I like the idea of restoring the 4x4 first gen selling it then put the money into the 2x4 and keep it, do what ever you want to it, now in terms of height for the 2x4 first gen I would level it, dont go to crazy! Make it a nice classic truck, and off course add your out touch to it.

Lower the dually and put it on some 22 Alcoa’s I’ve seen a single cab dually 2nd gen lowered on 22 Alcoa’s and it looks absolutely amazing, I’ve never seen a 1st gen that’s a single cab lowered on semi truck Alcoa’s maybe you’ll be the first to do it and it’ll be different 🤔

Definitely a lowered dually, switch it up a little bit..live life low sometimes. For the 4x4 I think you should keep it factory spec, but with a level and some aggressive tires

I just this week bought my very first ram a first gen 1990 Ram w150 with the 5.2L 318 small block in it i paid $400 for the entire truck its not running and it's in rough shape it was a plow truck there is a hole in the floor but the frame is solid. I'm selling the plow for $350 so no matter what I do with that truck I only spent at the end of the day $50 for it basically. But I plan on fixing the hole in the floor fixing it up and seeing how nice I can make it.

I love your ideas for both trucks and I don’t know how you’ll be able to decide which one to keep. As I’ve watched before your ideas change as you get into a restoration process.

Do the 2wd leveled souped up custom dually for yourself and then build the 4x4 and sell it to cover a good chunk of your dually cost
Level them out and put 2019 Dodge stock wheels on them with 35 mud grapps and the paint color be a darkish blue with a good amount of flake on it
I say the two-wheel drive dually would be nice with a level kit on it would be better than lowering it and I would make the four-wheel drive one the one you sell

To fix the charge issue buy a FAR FROM STOCK external Regulator for the alternator bam problem solved also could be your CPS sensor (crank positioning sensor)
I'm a little biased because I'm currently working on a dually 4x4 NV4500 truck. So would definitely like to see the 4x4 build. But for your situation sounds like the 2x4 just makes a lot more sense!
Lifted 4x4 would be sweet with classic two tone paint job.

For the one you keep I think you should level it rebuild the engine with 200 over injectors keep the afc live p pump it and put compounds on it with a dark mettalic color and bright accents
4x4 one would look a great with a black cherry paint leveled on some 22x14

I'm fairly sertin that lmc sells tail gates. And a Texas company sells dually fenders for that truck. And if ur gonna tow, look up hydro boost brake conversion on your first gen.
Also a second gen rear end will fit under the truck, just have to change the shock mounts. If ur looking to convert a truck to dually. U could get a rear end with disk brakes and what not. Be better for towing
Ryan, lower the dually, but to make it even better you should throw a gooseneck trailer lowered to the same height and color matched!

And the charging issue you are having is thePCM in the fender behind the air box contains the regulator and they go bad. So just buy an old style gas engine regulator at the parts store and the harness. Then just buy pass it.
If its just for cruising 2wd slammed on air would be sweet especially knowning some of your crazy color choices.

I would do a lower Dooley with air bags for you because lower Dooleys look cool. Lift the 4 x 4 one and do a gun metal gray for paint

You should build the truck your gonna keep they way you would want it. Go a little wild on the sell truck. One of your viewers will buy it just cuz it’s a Mayer build and the other people will just love the content. The sale truck would look sick in a metallic woodland green.

For the the flip truck, do a red and white two tone for the paint. Keep it classic and it would probably draw more money
4wd comes in handy for tow vehicles if you need low gear or to lock all 4 wheels in park while loading on a hill.
id keep that 4x4 just in case you ever get in a situation where you need it and a lifted 4x4 restored 1st gen would be pretty badass

I say keep the 2 wheel drive dually lowered with 22.5 semi wheels low pro tires with super singles in the back compound turbos bigger injectors duel 8 inch stacks and on the 4x4 lifted it with 37s on 18s or 20s and a 10 inch custom exhaust tip both trucks 5 speed on the lifed truck do a custom 2 tone paint and on yours do like cobalt blue

Restore and sell the 4X4. The 2 wheel drive, if you plan on a complete rebuild, maybe something that we haven’t seen for a while. Something like a rendition of a 1978 Little Red Express. They were a highly sought after truck then and even now. I understand the body style is way different. But if you plan to keep it for yourself, why not make something special out of it ! Would be a difficult build, but with all of your skills, I believe it possible.
I would keep the 4wd, make it a dually,either leveled with 35x10.5 on it, or 4 inch lift with 37s, but the 2wd with a 2 inch front, 4 inch rear drop or on bags is awesome too

Sell: rusty 2wd, drop/low, give it a sexy low ride but your style.

In my opinion I think you restoring one of them and selling is a good idea but imagine a lifted 4x4 first gen similar build to the banana ram. I would try to get them to build you a custom air ride lift like you had in the banana ram and brushed wheels powder coated frame 🤤I just don’t know what color would be good

Keep and bag or drop and put the dually bed on the 2 wheel drive and build and sell the lifted 4x4. Cant wait to see both builds either way.

You should get the FFS long travel air suspension, that way you can be lifted or lowered at the push of a button, they’re also local to Ohio
What happen to the g56 single cab 3rd gen?
Just find and do the 4x4 swap for the other one, and then choose between a cruiser that can pull or a cruiser to sit low. I’d go for the 4x4 dually 4-6” lift 22” stocks on 35”s
You do what YOU want with your skills and talent they will both be sick. We will watch both builds. But at the end of the day YOU are the one that has to live with the choice.

I think u should keep the 2wd and bag it and go with the manual the 4wd u should def do like a 4 inch lift nothing too big and do a built auto trans and make it a dually I think that combo will bring good money being it a 4x4 dually

Candy apple red is always a SWEET color on 1st gens and red is obviously an attention grabber... might be a nice selling point, or even another purple would be cool dude
The 1st get for sale if either keep do an oem resto or some sort of modest lift and just keep it old an classic tbh... yours would be sick to see it go all out like usual !
Maybe bag the 2wd not necessary slam it but get it low and keep it as a hauler and paint it like a metallic root beer brown. For the 4x4 lift it get it cleaned up and put it on some 26x14 and 36s.
Keep the running truck make it a dually lowered and flip the grey truck can’t wait to see what you do but definitely the running truck as a keeper
