All I can say is you made that 1st Gen look awesome and whoever gets it will have a nice work truck. Keep the awesome videos coming. Really enjoy them.
Beautiful truck when you started adding the trim back , I was like “f” that leave it plain but you did the pin stripes and it made that trim pop out excellent work
I will never forget my first experience with the death wooble. I was on my 6/7th trip with my 16ft. cargo trailer and the front hydraulic stabilizer blew at 70 mph… wow I never want to experience that again
in 2004 I had my actuator full of water from being stuck in a mud bog, didn’t drain, then during winter the next it was engaged it didn’t work as it was a block of ice. So after sitting in a warm garage for a while drained it out. 2024 twenty years larer, it still works.
Beautiful truck man. I really want to add a clean 2nd gen to my collection, but I'd sure consider that 1st gen! Love how the interior has survived on that one.
I'd love to be able to do what you do with these trucks. Return them to the farm where they can continue to serve like they did new. Just needs your signature Black Patch TrailFX cow pusher and she's ready. Love the silver too that came out frickin sweet
When I had to do some touch-up work on the roof of my 1990 1st Gen, I sanded-down all the rust, exposed the holes in the metal, then filled them in with JB Weld. Then primed and painted over that.
@@VBELTandSON So far, so good. I've used JB Weld as a small-area body filler (for holes and other small dents and imperfections) for years. However, I've noticed some minor pitting in my JB Weld/primer/paint layers, above the windshield (Rock chips?). The holes in the metal that I JB welded were only a few millimeters in diameter. I also used it along the seam, which seemed to work just fine, so far. Also, I noticed in your 1st Gen restoration that you left those holes in the body. When I restored the body on my 1990, I used nylon screen window material (Probably should have used regular autobody fiberglass cloth?) as a backing and filled-in the holes with JB Weld, then sanded it smooth. That was over a decade ago, and no problems since.
Amazing job Sam. I can hardly believe the transformation but I have to because I can see it with my own eyes. The color really suits the truck. I like the modern molding and the black pin stripe.
Yeah i loved the 74 two tone light on top and dark on bottom mint green d100 adventurer club cab short bed round corner ribbed sheetmetal frame, painted red, anyways the truck had very loose steering, so yeah and it was not even a 3/4 ton or a Cummins diesel truck...
That being said id still love to be able to get a decentish 75 dodge 3/4 ton club cab long bed 2wd or 4wd truck preferably gold but id consider it being a 76-79/80 but yeah id have to tighten up the front end if it was a daily driver truck...
Needs the duallies! Analogy Big Body Builder up top w/ Chicken legs down below. *Wide Flat bed that needs the duallies to come out to the edge of the flat bed* Admire your dedication for putting the old guys back on the road!! Great Job
Sweet I got a 93 1st Gen. One ton Dully. Still got the factory bed on a long wheelbase Extended gab. Needs transmission about all Then I can drive it around . It's only got a 175000 miles on it bought it brand new.
Sam, I have a well educated theory. The 'death wobble' you were experiencing, I'm fairly certain it's the weak leaf springs. I noticed at 37:03. That's probably why the steering bracket/frame fractured. Just saying. I've had the same problem on two semis . Greetings from the UK
That actually makes sense because the weight of the front axle and the brakes and hub Adapters and the wheels and tires and the heavy Cummins diesel engine...is directly on the springs on both the top and bottom of the frame so it's getting pushed against both ways so the weak springs can wreak some serious havoc on the entire front end of the truck.
Looks good. I done 2 2nd gens so fat one 2000 24v and 1996.12v I live in the salt belt. The 2000 24v I got for 1500 bucks I put all new inner and outer rockers cab corners fenders floor patch 4 cab mounts fix some dents in the bed. Took me 6 months to do
Strong work! But I would have had to keep her a dually and put a goose neck hitch in it while the bed was stripped down and steel topped the bed + some aluminum dually wheels. But she turned out well.
I enjoyed this video so much. I am trying to save up money to get one of these for a daily to drive to work and teach my daughter some things on. Been a dream of mine for a couple years. Had some set backs lately but hopefully soon. I am not sure yet.
brother I am dying to know how you like that portacool. Looks like the big boy? Couple shops around me have them and I"m considering one too. Similkameen valley, okanagan BC canada
Hell yeah man! The gen one came out looking sweet! Looks so much better with the singles than the dually look. Looking forward to the rest of the content of you restoring the rest of Dodges you have laying around.
The gold would explain the peanut butter brown and tan interior... not usually dodge interior choice for a red or burgundy truck, although the early red and burgundy interior second gen dodge trucks were some of my favorite ones around 96 though almost all of them got grey interior...
Nothing worse than listening to a guy in California pointing out little spots of rust on a 30 year old first gen when you live in Nebraska. Here that truck would rusted so bad the doors would have fallen off 15 years ago.
Come on man. Learn the difference please. I’m concerned with the fact the last guy tried to half ass cover it up. But if you don’t like your state than move out of it!
I found brackets bended then torquing the u bolts, so I split a 3 inch x 1/4 square tube length ways and drilled new holes. I haven't had any more problems with bending.
I can’t remember who but I was watching another TH-camr with a first gen. He bought a red head steering box with a steering box frame brace, he said this was to ensure that the frame can’t flex when you steer.
My 2000 dodge ram the clear coat on the roof is a thing of the past and the paint has been baked and oxidized for probably 15 years before I got the truck so the paint looks like crap on my truck anyway,, and the hood is also loosing most of it's clear coat and even paint in some spots and when the previous owners haphazardly flat black spraybombed the red front doors and the replacement chrome front straight bumper on the monochromatic trim truck so it got sprayed black as well so there's over spray and touch up spots all over the truck...
Love the cat...Great info on the 1st Gen, Sam. Somehow I am out of sync again. The 3rd video of this truck popped up about breaking receiver, then I saw this video so I clicked on it and now a prior video when you bought it with "extreme death wobble". I will go back after this video and catch up. Thought I was subscribed and now not so I have hit "Subscribe" again. Beautiful paint work, body work and electrical repair. Much better with the SRW.
Looks like an awesome job well done. Not criticism as I am not anything remotely like an expert, but I would have put some additional steel plates where possible on the frame and parts so those cracks could never reoccur. I tend to really over repair things like those cracks as I would think that the original design was a little weaker than it should have been.
Man I just bought a 93 D250 and I dont understand how people hack these things up so bad. I appreciate your approach and I agree if I am going to be daily using it for dump runs and work it doesnt have to be show work but what you did with that truck was solid and good work. If you ever take work from Texas I may have to bring mine over to you at some point for body work.
I’m jealous Sam. These Kool ole ranch Cummins units fall right in your lap 😂😂😂👍 I’m like you I could mess around with those units all day 🇺🇸💪🏻✌️
I agree!
All I can say is you made that 1st Gen look awesome and whoever gets it will have a nice work truck. Keep the awesome videos coming. Really enjoy them.
Can I spread the gospel to u
Beautiful truck when you started adding the trim back , I was like “f” that leave it plain but you did the pin stripes and it made that trim pop out excellent work
Thanks. And I would have left the trim off but they have trim holes to mount it and I didn’t want to do the extra metal work to fill those holes
I did kinda like the two tone paint scheme they had chosen for the truck before you got ahold of it, but the silver really looks good!!!
I will never forget my first experience with the death wooble. I was on my 6/7th trip with my 16ft. cargo trailer and the front hydraulic stabilizer blew at 70 mph… wow I never want to experience that again

Nice build, doing it right keeps the new owner happy. Nothing wrong with how long this video was. Longer videos are better sometimes.
Great build Sam. Glad you got the steering figured out. Saved another one!
Thank you!
Did anyone else notice how good Sam sings? Wow brother you really are talented! Keep the videos coming man we love learning from you! God bless
I was thinking the same thing!
I figured that was his voice singing.
Awesome Work ! really killing it Sam ! my respect 🫡 🙌🏻
Thanks mike!
Wow, that came out nice! Perfect blend of daily driver and weekend cars and coffee level truck
Damn. Second video I've heard you sing on! Ol son.. you ain't hurting my ears...
Wish I could say that’s me hah

So how many brownies points did you get. With the in-laws for the green truck?😂😂😂

Good job all around! Kudo's!
They are not as nice to drive every day, but 1st Gens are still my favorite. Nice job

I finally got me a 4x4 first gen the other day i love it.
You are making a hell of a truck for someone!
Sweet I got a 93 1st Gen. One ton Dully. Still got the factory bed on a long wheelbase Extended gab. Needs transmission about all Then I can drive it around . It's only got a 175000 miles on it bought it brand new.
I wear the same gloves, best ones I’ve found yet and for the money can’t beat it!
I’d daily drive the hell out of that truck! Ain’t mad at that build
Thanks Sam love watching your videos

Love the restoring vids
Killer work personally I think the duals looked way better and it seems like first gen dually 4x4s bring more money
Strong work! But I would have had to keep her a dually and put a goose neck hitch in it while the bed was stripped down and steel topped the bed + some aluminum dually wheels. But she turned out well.
Thank you and I’ll aim for a true dually 1st gen. We gotta be legit sometimes hah
Just keep on what you are doing, Saving them!
Great job.
Sam I always like your builds you make amazing looking trucks dude! 👍
Patience + skills = talent !
I enjoyed this video so much. I am trying to save up money to get one of these for a daily to drive to work and teach my daughter some things on. Been a dream of mine for a couple years. Had some set backs lately but hopefully soon. I am not sure yet.
Looks good Sam 👍👍
Wooooweee that 1st gen turned out purty, another dang good looking rig sir
brother I am dying to know how you like that portacool. Looks like the big boy? Couple shops around me have them and I"m considering one too. Similkameen valley, okanagan BC canada
It definitely helps keep me alive. I hated spending that much money but I push it outside sometimes and it keeps me alive in straight sun when 100+
looks real pretty man, awesome job on er
Looks good, Sam
Thanks!
Looks great Sam! Keep up the great work.
Good video brother. Nice truck. I’ve learned when I had a 93 d150 that you should check the floor pan also
I love projects like this one 😊 Great job 👏
Hell yeah man! The gen one came out looking sweet! Looks so much better with the singles than the dually look. Looking forward to the rest of the content of you restoring the rest of Dodges you have laying around.
Paint looks incredible!
Thank you!🙌🏻

i Like the 1st gen Cummins ram truck son

I am waiting for a 3rd gen rusty rocker repair video. Get at it!
I’ll edit that’s trucks footage up really soon. Certainly was a challenge truck but it’s almost done aswell
@VBELTandSON awesome! I just bought my father-in-laws 06 mega cab 6 speed. The rockers are a little soft on it, even being a southern truck.
The old ram chargers had a pretty bad problem about the frame cracking at the stirring box also.
That is a nice truck!!
Thanks, LOVE IT SAM, GOD BLESS YOU...😊
Loving the music 🙌🏻🙌🏻 trucks bad ass to!
Those trim holes and screws are why the tin grille and 81-93 trucks body panels rust so much...
Turned out great man!
Looking very well like it I have a 1987 4+4 love to do it too 👍👍👍😊
Looks great. Keep up the good work
Thank you
Nice, this one could have been a camper truck with a huge foam box on the back.
Looks great way better with the single wheel love the videos and the time lapse music
Hell ya beautiful job keep up the great work respect all u do

Another excellent project done right! Good video Sam
I liked it. Red and black
@@paxtonpickett3456 wasn’t a bad look. But I didn’t have any red or black paint left over
Idk if you have ever heard of this place but it’s called Geno’s Garage they only sell dodge parts for all Generations
Looking awesome
That is a good looking truck
Looks great
Heck yeah brother 👍🇺🇸💪🏻
Turned out awesome!!
I liked the dually wheels on it best. What was the specs of those tires? It was perfectly fitted.
Awesome work man!
Thanks man! Not quite the OG crew but I’m getting closer lol
Nice rig
Damn, that is a sweet truck!
Thank you!
Should have painted the doors and jams. But everything else looks nice.
Absolutely love all your builds have built a few first and second Gen dodges also in California what part of California you from
I really feel like how different content is, is what makes is… we never know what we’re gonna get
Lookin Good!!
Will Ferrell called and said this one song needs more cowbell at around 12:30
Man I just bought a 93 D250 and I dont understand how people hack these things up so bad. Bruh- you deserve every dime you get for that sucker!!!!!! I'd love to own that!!!!
She needs a visor 🤘
