Asides from replacing the rings five years ago that's been it for the ole girl. Still ride her every weekend

it's common knowledge that the Ltz is a lot faster stock but it's not all about drag racing. on a track it comes down suspension set up and rider skills. l would rather have the Honda perfect all around sport quad.
LTZ FOR ME I LOVE MINE best quad I've had and I've had em ALL--The 660s and 700s are not light and nimble. Suzuki 03 to 08 are my favorites. All around beasts. And super low maintenance with 100% reliability......lol Smoking EXs and loving that look on their faces.....lol
best way is, both go side by side in 2 gear down the road, set some sort of marker, then when you hit/ pass, ,both let her rip, who ever gets the best start will win. My stock 400ex with muffler and K&N would beat a 660 raptor piped and jetted till 5 gear then the raptor would pull away

josh taylor 400ex has reverse on anything after 03 I think might have been a little later. I've riddin both in brand new unmodified condition and I'd give the edge to the 400ex on power and speed they both have their own feel I just feel more torque sooner on the Honda and the top end at least in the sand is definitely stronger the ltz was bogging trying to carry 5th gear where the ex never did. The ltz has fuel injection but I didn't notice any gains to that other than cold starts you don't have to choke it. There are definitely gains that come with fuel injection but there are also added electrical parts I personally see as problems and expensive repairs. I've had my 400ex for 10 years and ive never touched the carb. I do think they are both good bikes both good power either one is a solid choice. I personally like the 400ex more. They are simple and reliable and cheap to work on.
HARRAPSY The ltz is better and more setup for racing then the 400ex, The Ltz is also lighter and has better suspension so it would be better on the curves for sure.

Either your 400ex was modified vs stock LTZs or those riders on the Suzukis were terrible. And if my 400ex wasn't taken care of then my LTZ's wouldn't of been either, so your point is moot. But since you bring it up, no they were both properly jetted with adequate compression and all maintenance done. I had a stock '07 and an '02 with a full FMF exhaust and filter, w/lid removed. The '02 was *slightly* faster than my stock LTZ, but my other LTZ with Yoshi pipe and filter w/lid removed was noticeably faster than the '02 EX. It wasn't even close. You sound like a 400ex fanatic that can't accept the fact that his air-cooled SOHC isn't as powerful as a liquid cooled DOHC of the same displacement. I am not blindly loyal to the LTZ as you seem to be towards your EX, I don't even have either of them anymore, I moved onto 450's and Raptor's. Keep believing your 400 trail bike is the fastest shit out there kid, you're only fooling yourself.

I have had both , they are both amazing machines I would say get they z400 they are slightly faster stock vs a stock 400ex and they have reverse
