  • This video is for entertainment purposes only and you should refer to your factory service manual when servicing your specific machine!
    With that said, in this episode I am servicing Honda's 2016 NC700X DCT ABS. I recently purchased this motorcycle and want to make sure it is properly serviced and safe to ride. I will be performing an oil change, servicing the DCT, checking the health of the charging system, the lights and horn, the cooling system (coolant level and fan operation), inspecting the braking system (fluid level and clarity, pad thickness, actual function), inspecting the tires and valve stems, cleaning, lubing and inspecting the chain, inspecting the suspension, etc.
    While these procedures are performed on a specific motorcycle, they are applicable to a wide variety of motorcycles.
    Honda's 2016 NC700X DCT ABS is a game changer! With aggressive Adventure Bike styling, clever large-capacity storage, comfy ergonomics, easy handling, insanely good fuel mileage, linear power delivery, and ABS brakes. Best of all, this model has Honda's ground-breaking Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT). This "smart" transmission can be set on fully automatic or manual. It also has two automatic shift settings - Drive and Sport.
    What is it like to service? How do you service a DCT motorcycle? Let's find out!

    I don’t have this bike, but I saw one yesterday and it interested me. You did a fantastic job of explaining the needs of your bike. Your explanations were very user friendly for anyone that buys or currently owns the NC. Unfortunately for me, I’m not a chain drive kind of a rider, I prefer shaft drive since it’s cleaner, in my humble opinion. Thanks tho, it was a pleasure viewing your process.

    Picked up a 2014 700x with DCT a month back with 4000 miles on it, two year old tires, and recently serviced. I'm loving it so far. I just wasn't sure how to maintain it because there was no manual whatsoever. Now, I'm covered. Thanks!

    ...use torque wrench specially on bolts used on a metric bike. However...There are places that even a torque wrench can get you into BIG TROUBLE QUICK... handle bar clamps for one!

    Sounds like we picked up similar used NCs. Mine is a 2016 bought from a coworker. Only had 1,400 miles or so on it 2 yrs ago, just under 9,000 now. Getting ready to do an oil change, coolant drain/fill, and brake fluid replacement. Then I'll be good for a couple more years.

    Where did you get the additional brake light with blinkers? Easy/hard to install?

    Every 12k km the valve clearance has to be checked. Have you done this aswell?

    when you lubricated the chain that was wrong because you have to put the grease on the inside of the chain and then the grease can do his work now its flying directly to the rear wheel and does not do his job well grts from belgium

    • @jonsmotorcyclerescueandrev3538
      @jonsmotorcyclerescueandrev3538  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Joseph, newer chains are internally lubricated and sealed with o-rings. Cleaning them and lubricating them is more about removing abrasive grime and then protecting the links from corrosion on the outside. I make sure all exterior surfaces of the chain are coated with the chain wax - it doesn't sling off the chain like traditional lube. Cheers!

    "E-Brake"? Dude it's a parking brake. Not for emergencies! If you did use it as an emergency brake it will be locked on and if tightly adjusted lockup your rear wheel, then you really will have an emergency while riding one-handed.
