I’m from Denmark and the postcard is written in danish, actually it’s a dinner invitation, and the container beside these wine bottle is also from Denmark
I have been here and spoken with the groundskeeper, it was nothing to do with a cult, the buildings were illegally built and the people were moved on. They were strange, yes, but it was nothing to do with a cult of any sort, I used to live near this.
I'm convinced this was a Danish Closed Brethren community, just outside Huntly Aberdeenshire, in the 80s their was still some Brethren groups along the coast near by in Buckie etc the Closed Brethren would have their own church and beliefs, in the photo of the men all sat down some of them have a white tag hanging from their coats beside their handkerchief, this is seen in other photos of Danish Closed Brethren, I could be wrong but it certainly seems like it
That's what I thought, they didn't do the least bit of research for the edit, so guess it's all about them. I'd have had to at least find out the bare minimum about both communities who lived here.
I'm German, and the writing you found on things in that house wasn't German. It might have been Dutch or Danish. There are some similarities in these languages. I think Danish, because there was a Danish (Dansk) book in that "office" looking building, and the names of the guys on the photo were also more Scandinavian instead of German. Interesting place, though! I'd like to know what kind of community that was. Nice explore! 😊👍
During WW2 a lot of Norwegians fled their homeland after the German invasion and ended up in Scotland, Aberdeenshire and Moray welcomed many. The coastal town of Buckie was even nicknamed little Norway.
This place is adorable! A little mysterious and a bit creepy but very cool at the same time! I can imagine how bleak this place is in the winter. I do remember the Customs house that you guys went to as well! Thank you for another extremely interesting explore!!! Xx
@@MrBobchat Very rude! I believe you should smoke something and chill out. I hate people that have nothing better to do than sit and bitch about whatever someone else did. If you aren't okay with their exploring adventures then why bother watching their channel?
I actually jumped and had to rewind at the very end when you looked into the window of the locked cottage. There was a reflection on the window glass (Jess, I think) and for a quick second, it looked like someone was sitting in the cottage.
Guys, the large 'trees' in the front garden were Japanese knotweed as far as I can tell!! Great job dudes. Beautiful place and another truly wonderful explore. Xx 😊

The thumbnail you used for this video is of St. Elmo (ghost town) in Colorado, USA. Not quite Scotland and rather misleading. Why not use a picture or still from the actual place featured in your video?
Such a cool and beautiful place. Going back to places more then once or twice is always a good thing.. Abandoned places can change quickly and no doubt you'll see and find things you didn't see before. Going at night sounds interesting and if I didn't have health/mobility issues I'd gladly go with you but will agree does sound creepy too.. Thanks for shareing.
Enjoyed that little adventure. A bit like `Through the Keyhole` tv programe with all the misleading languages. A sign on the Wall said `God Bless This Home` in Danish, the cups with the spices are also in Danish, The old map looks to be in Welsh, a place near Llandrillo and other bits and pieces in English. So perhaps a Danish man married a Welsh woman and they moved to Scotland? Don`t think there`s any occult goings on though, just a little highland farming community that liked tgo keep to itself. You should have just asked at one of the other farms that are occupied, someone up there would know, I find the folk in the highlands quite friendly. Anyhow, great video Sam & Jess.
The plaque that reads "bud vellign vort hiem" above the old fireplace is Danish, roughly translates into Lord Bless This Home ... and the book in the church, Den Danske Salmebog, is a book of hyms of the Church of Denmark 😮 fascinating!
Guys that Guinness book was from 1974! That's wild! And they must have spoken English because that book was in English wasn't it? I'd love to go explore that village with you guys!
Those giant plants outside that house are giant knotweed. It's very dangerous stuff. Highly irritating to you if you touch it or are in close proximity.

Those big plants outside the house are giant hogweed they died back a bit but touch those when they are green the cause terrible blisters and pain for years any time sun light hits were you were stung the blisters come back
28:65 the ceiling in that cottage is so well built. Germans in Scotland wow, we have many German nationalities here in Kentucky, USA. they are Amish folk. Very nice people. Their young children just speak German then after age 5 they are taught English, as far as we know. It could be different in many areas. Great adventure. My grandparents were from Scotland. Such beautiful countryside. Thank you for your explores. Patty😊
Sorry, for a 3rd. comment, but now I've got it... 24:39 the letter is definately in Danish or perhaps Norwegian, can't read it propperly.) It's for Mayor Toft, I can't get the first name, but more interesting is the picture of the Danish priest Morten Larsen (1851-1936) In his early years he was quite influenced by Kiekegaard. When living in Paris he had a faith crisis, and he settled in "Grundtviganism". You can hardly call Grundvigianism a cult or a sect. It was a movement and is still a huge fraction in the Danish State Church, if not the biggest. My mother was raised strictly Lutheran, and they called the Grundtvigians "The Happy Christians" - and that was NOT a compliment. The Grundtvigians were in stark contrast to the orthodox Lutherans as they insisted on enjoying God's gifts! They like a good party 😂 Grundtvig (1783-1872) has influenced Danish culture enourmously. He was one of the dudes behind our constituion, and he has influenced paedagogics and didectics - he still does. There's a tiny pice of Grundtvig in every Dane 😉
Thank you for explaining these people's background, it's great learn something new as well as appreciate an awesome explore. I think this is one of the best I've seen!
Just watched this, right at the end as you zoom into the blue sash window, in, sort of the top left of the middle pane of glass, my better half and i can clearly see the face of an elderly woman, can anyone else see it? It looks like she's looking round the curtain at you

Those strange large plants outside the house looks like Giant Hogweed. I hope you guys didnt touch it, it has a toxic sap that burns your skin. Fun video though, stay safe 🙏
I maybe wrong but I do think you have the right to roam in Scottish law,as long as you don't cause damage to live stock and close gates behind you.if am right there is no need to worry walking about the outskirts of fields, but buildings maybe against the law to enter.
Thank you for sharing this fascinating Video 😀 Some of the Surnames listed upon the old Documents/Pictures definitely sound Scandi. I would imagine that this Commune is now abandoned as it just wasn't a compelling enough place for young people to continue living at. They would have jumped ship to live in much, much larger Towns/Cities.

I believe it was Danish rather than German occupants. The book on the desk, Der Danske Salme Bog is a hymnal of the Church of Denmark.
For sure it was Danish
Yes ore danisch
saw an old aebleskiver pan

This was a Danish family. I could read everything on the postcard and spices in the kitchen cabinets.
- hello, from Denmark 👍🏼
Those picture look like they are from 'back-home', as in the letter, or Denmark, would you agree?
This is all Danish. From the hymn books to the letters, documents and wall hangings. It's even decorated like classic homes in the 70's and 80's
This is not german, these people where from denmark.
I'm German, and the writing you found on things in that house wasn't German. It might have been Dutch or Danish. There are some similarities in these languages.

No dutch either.
Danish
Danish or norwegian. Some of that was norwegian for sure.
Definely danish! This is a really strange location

The plants are Giant Hogweed. Very poisonous.
That language is not German but Danish
Another cool vid , the plants were giant hogweed which when touched can cause blistering and itching. Thanks guys . ❤ X

I was thinking about a hogweed plant
it was not knotweed, its giant hemlock.
Yeah looks like giant hogweed
Giant hog weed, I’ve been unfortunate to have come in contact with this plant, not the best experience.
It’s been poisoned to contain the spread.
It is 100% giant hemlock/hogweed and its a bloody good job you didnt touch it
This is a fabulous find I would love to explore it myself, but unfortunately I can’t through illness so Thank You for taking us around here 😊
