Band-Maid elicits your inner most feelings. The obvious next song will be FREEDOM-LIVE for Akane's extended drum solo. Then the MV Warning. There are no bad song choices. Ever. Let there be no doubt that Rock is alive and well. Their stage presence is off the charts. Their ability to engage one and all. And the music of course just envelopes you. P.S.: I totally understand your reaction and feelings, round about three years ago it was the same for me! I totally lost interest in music to be honest, especially in rock- or metalmusic, there was nothing new IMO! I just heard Drum n Bass, it was easy to listen to and got me in the mood... AND i discovered Band-Maid and was infected, just like that i was surprised, happy, excited to discover something that made music interesting again, at least for me personally, i have heard a lot of bands, genres, musicals and musicians, but they are special and they opened a totally different view how i should understand music... It opened my horizon and my mind, that is how important this band was and still is for me at least...

I am seriously concerned for your brain, if Play melted it, then you need to use extreme caution when you listen to songs like Black Hole, Giovanni, and Corallium.

Great reaction and yes tears are normal with B-M. Their energy on stage is unbelievable and this song was the 22 of 23 songs in a 2+ hours show. You got the drummers name correct. Also, when they gather around the drummer they're making faces at her to see if they can make her mess up, but she never does. As others will tell you, Freedom from this same show has a longer drum solo.
This is song 22 of 23 in a 2 hour 30 minute set. Quite honestly I think they could play their entire catalogue in one set they have so much energy ! Never apologise about going back on a Band Maid video, I must have watched 100 + reactions to this video and it stills sounds fresh everytime. Keep enjoying Band Maid. 'Freedom' live next !!
I have been listening to rock since the 60s, i grew up listening to the Beatles and was enchanted with them. Since then I haven't found another band that combines excellent songcraft, phenomenal musicians, catchy vocals, stick in your head lyrics and is just plain fun to watch - until Band Maid came along! There are so many songs to suggest: 'Freedom' live has an extended drum solo (I think the longest solo in Band Maid's repertoire), 'Manners' (either MV or live has my vote for the best rock song of the century), 'Dice' and 'No God' - for starters 😁
Yep, I'm another old fart that's discovered this band. And I'm amazed at how many of us who lived through the hard rock era of Purple, Led Zep, etc have rediscovered a love for that with this band.
One of their most intricate vocal performances is in the song Corallium, from their newest single Sense. There they have everything: harmonizing melody, counter melodies, ad-libs. They even do delayed harmonics, which is really cool. The instrumentation is also everywhere, one of their most busy songs. If you had trouble picking apart details with Play and Domination, Corallium is going to drive you absolutely insane.

Band-Maid is simply amazing, and you'd think this much talent coming together into one band is something that happens once in a lifetime, but that's not quite right. As you noticed with Lovebites, Japan has tons of talent. I have discovered through BM a ton of incredibly skilled bands and musicians that blow my mind everytime. Here's a small list of other bands I listen to regularly along with BM.
Gacharic Spin - fun, energetic, very original.
Nemophila - mostly heavy metal sometimes thrashy, always fun
Hanabie - incredible blend of genres. They will surprise you.
Wagakki Band - more like folk-metal folk-rock insane energy, very unique.
Maximum the Hormone - there are no words to describe this band. They're a journey. Open your mind and let them take you for a ride.

One of the best things about Band Maid is their versatility in the rock genre. The can do anything from Power Ballads to melt your face, high speed prog rock to deep gritty blues rock. Best example of the last two, they released a video not to long ago of Manners and Black Hole. absolutely a must see! And as far as ballads go, Daydreaming. Akane's solo in that is insane! Just all the emotions they put into it. Also, keep in mind their energy, this was song 22 in a 23 song setlist!

Nice reaction. You brought up a couple of things about Akane's drumming that don't remember anyone else mentioning.
Freedom Live is the logical next song. Not as complex but a fun song and you get to see Akane have her moment. Real Existence Live and Onset Live are 2 other great concerts in front of an audience.
Moratorium and Puzzle (both Live) are a couple of masterpieces whose videos are in other places than you tube.
Akane's drumming is also really prominent in No God, Blooming MV, Rinne MV, Dice MV, Different MV. But so so many songs. You can't really go wrong.

You are saying Akane correct, good job! "Freedom", live has to be you next stop, a great drum solo is in that song! Musical perfection is the result in hearing Band-Maid, brings a smile and a happy feeling, every time! For a change of pace from these amazing ladies, try "Smile", acoustic, "About Us", a love song to the fans they miss, or "Daydreaming", a epic ballad. No bad songs, really!

This performance is a perfect example of why we love these ladies so much. Yes, this community and the fans of these ladies are great. And sometimes we might be a little passionate in the comments. But, I ask for a little indulgence, because we are all infected with probably the most contagious virus ever. And this carries the name 'Band-Maid'. And no antidote to it has been found yet, let alone searched for. :)

Akane is the happiest drummer in the world. She's all rainbows and sunshines when she plays her drums... She has also an amazing solo in Freedom.

For the concert that Play and Domination came from, they were the 21st and 22nd songs of a 23 song set. The amount of energy they bring that late into the show is just great. To get the range of Band Maid, I would suggest the MV of Daydreaming.

“Blooming” is my favorite and has a ton of cool musical harmonies and stuff in it. It’s like a showcase of their favorite musical tricks in a single song.
“About Us” is another favorite of mine and is a straight up pop song they wrote during the pandemic as a love letter to the fans. They have a live version on their TH-cam channel and it shows how they can switch up genres while maintaining their sound. They’re masterful songwriters.

Just a great band. Perfect tonic to listen to if you are having a bad day. The joy they have playing is infectious. All there songs are great but personal favourite of mine is Manners the official MV. Shows them off as a classic rock band. Great reaction.

Akane, and yes your pronunciation is correct, plays very straight forward, and hard. Her double kicks are heel/toe, iirc.
This is song and concert is the poster child for their live show experience. I've seen them 6x times live now and every time it is 2 hours straight of getting your face melted.

You chose well! I've seen like 100+ of this video and it still gets me. The end makes me hold my breath every time! All of their live songs are amazing but you might like the drum solo in Freedom. I guarantee you will be amazed every time you see a video of theirs and it's your new favorite. They are hit machines!

I'll double down on the Freedom -> Thrill (I would say the live one but the MV bight give a better idea of where they came from since the live is much later) -> Sense that motley22crue said. Freedom is because you wanted a long drum solo which this one DEFINITELY gives you. Also if you look closely a lot of familiar names from the Band-Maid Community Discord lol.
Akane's drum set owes her money, that's why she beats them so hard. Others have recommended Freedom already, so I just throw in Wonderland from the same concert. I have no idea what the instruments are doing most of the time, the vocals are just that good to my ears on that song.

Saiki: sai-kee (like 'psyche', but if you want to get more into it, it's more like (sa-ee)-kee. (2 syllables))

They do have a few songs, in order to give Saiki’s voice a rest during live performances, that Miku sings the vocals by herself. I don’t think there’s an official video of any of them but there are fan videos and grabs from CDs of their Servings. The songs I know are the newest “Sayonkadori” (means Nightingale), “Rock in Me” & “Time”. There by an earlier one I don’t know yet. The live version of “Sayonkadori” is absolutely stellar.
To add to this list from their earlier albums Miku also sings Beauty and the Beast, Big Dad, and Summer Drive. I'm quite partial to Beauty and the Beast, very cool shift in the breakdown section.

If you're looking for something more technical from the whole band, check out the live versions of Different or Black Hole. For more harmonizing you could check out some of their slower ballad songs like Wonderland or About Us. For a pure thrill ride, I recommend Warning!, Dice or No God, which are some fun, upfront and heavy songs. Just remember, none of their songs is the same and it's always quite amazing!

Band Maid is unique in that all members have mega talent and showmanship but zero ego. In any other band the lead and singer would be' fighting'. Lead Kanami ensures that everyone gets their solo and time in the spotlight. Off stage she is the shyest most demur, slightly unworldly young woman - onstage she is a monster. A genius. Jimmy Page reckons drummer Akane is amongst the best in the world.
In Zen Buddhism there is a saying "While some horses need the whip, some horses run at the shadow of the whip" . You, my friend, belong to the last category. You didn't need any background or introduction. But right away saw the genius of these ladies. It's a pleasure to see your journey with BANDMAID.

Saiki = Sigh - Key (vocals)
Miku = Mee-Koo (rh gt and vocals)
Akane = Ah-Ka -Neh (drums)
MISA = Mee-Sah (bass)
Kanami = Kah-Nah-Mee (lead gt)
Not sure if anyone pointed it out yet but this song followed immediately after "Play". If you watched them back to back you'll see how they transitioned over.
Akane Hirose on drums and MISA on Bass both went to Tokyo College of Music and have their music degree. This school is in Japan what Berklee in Boston is in the USA. Kanami Tono played the Piano from a very young age, Kanami is the main composer of their songs, but everyone contributes in the process. MISA started playing at 3-4 yrs old. Miku Kobato had never played the guitar before forming Band-Maid in 2013, she has become a very good rythm guitarist since. All girls are masters of their craft. Forgot to say that Saiki Atsumi is the best singer in hard rock in a very long time.
You got Akane's name right. You arent the only fan of Akane , Jimmy Page is there with you too, and got his pic with her after seeing them live in Tokyo. Well done with reviews . I am a musician in Oz too, and these girls are the real deal for me.

Kanami never does too much on solos. They are always exactly enough.
I suggest you start from the beginning, you will learn and see how they have improved from being very good back then to be extraordinary today. Start with Thrill, their first MV that got the ball running and saved them from being dropped by the record label. I suggest you continue with Real Existence from their second album New Beginning and Alone from their 3rd album Brand New Maid. Alone is the first song written by Band-Maid, before Alone the record label refused to let them play their own music. From their 5th and 1st major release Just Bring IT you can react to Moratorium and Secret My Lips, and you will be blown away yet again :-)

I do have quite a few Ozzie friends here in Japan, some very much into heavy stuff and all agree this is something new and the more overwhelming that they are young (well, they look young, lol!) ladies blasting you right into our face! You would not believe how shy, unassuming, polite and still passionate in private life!
But their main asset is their incredible camaraderie that have them smile (when they do not play acoustic, another incredible experience!) onstage like no other group does or can.

From your reaction I figure you already understand what Band-Maid are all about, they melt faces, makes you hair stand on your head and your arms, and you have a hard time standing still. Still happens to me all the time. Akane is the best drummer in hard rock today. Greetings from a Maidiac in Norway. Band-Maid call their fans for Masters and Princesses, and their conserts for Servings. Have a look at their stage setup, have you ever seen chandeliers on stage before? Well you will with Band-Maid. They greet their fans at the start of the conserts with: Welcome home Masters and Princesses, todays servering is about to start........
I cannot wait until you watch Freedom (live). Akane (you pronounced her name perfectly) is going to melt your face in that one. BTW Saiki's name is more like psy-key, not sah-key. The other three are pretty easy.

Great reaction! I'm not sure if this is your first time listening to Band Maid, or just this song, but either way you're in for a treat. They are without doubt one of the best hard rock bands to have emerged over the last 30 or 40 years. Cheers from the UK.
