    I feel honored that you always take the time to respond to your viewers' comments. You are an exceptional teacher, and your passion definitely rubs off on me. Glad to see you also scored in 2019!

      Thank you, if people take the time to comment, it's the least I can do is respond. Also, I love the interaction, why else start a channel. :)

      @@VinceVenturella I think that's what sets you and a few select others apart from the rest. Many make channels for one reason: earn money. I enjoy your raw content without fancy editing etc. You're like a college professor who cares about the the subject and doesn't need all the bells and whistles :D

    Such a helpful video.
    This is the first time I've noticed the girl standing where the head would be, and when you explain the bright blue swords it help me understand the mini more.
    Thanks again.

    Vince, you have always been the go to for anyone who asks me, "how do I get started?" or "OK, I got it how do I get better?" But, this video is practical application at its best. So nice to see why all these individual skills and techniques come together. Thank you so much not only for all your work, but, this video specifically.

    • @VinceVenturella

      Glad to hear it landed for you. :) - That is exactly what I was hoping for, to really break down the way I think about the techniques and how I apply them.

    As someone who is thinking of getting more serious about their painting, this level of analysis and explanation was incredibly helpful. I don't know how I haven't found this channel earlier. I instantly subbed.

      Well thank you. My goal is always to make sure I really explain the why more than just show the how. The reality is, there are lots of roads to the same ends, and I want to make sure people can make their own decisions using the techniques they are comfortable with. Glad I was able to assist, and thank you for watching, commenting and subbing. :)

    I am currently going through the video stopping it as you get to each off shoot video and watching them. I LOVE this video idea and since you have such a large video library you are able to make very complex painting tutorials without having the actual video being insanely long an it is very easy to skip techniques that you might fell you already have a pretty good handle on or on the opposite side watch other multiple times. The video that I just finished watching was the pigment video and it made me think of a video series that I thought someone like your self could easily do which I haven't really seen before. Versus for Beginners where the concept would be to go over the difference in certain techniques that a beginner might this are one in the same / interchangeable. Example: Using Pigment Vs. Dry brushing; Washing / Shading Vs. Glazing.

      It's tough, I have thought about such a video many times, but the reality is, I am not sure how to construct it. It's like you saying to me - "How do I get to Chattanooga"
      Well, I can giveyou an answer of highways, but I don't know where you are coming from, what roads you prefer to drive on, what construction is around.
      The situation is the same here. Often the techniques are interchangable and any of them are fine. it's about the style, the skill of the painter, the nature of the figure, the thing they are painting, the material attempting to be replicated, the tools they have available.
      In other words, there often isn't a right answer. To do such a video I would either set people in the wrong direction and make them think there was only one road to Chattanooga or give them a bad time when my directions didn't align with those items listed above.
      This is one of the reasons I just try to really break down the technique and then let people experiment. In the end, through use and practice of the technique, you will become more comfortable with your own style, your own tools, your own goals and be able to better use the techniques to achieve your goals.
      I know it sounds kind of a cop out, but it's one of those things where the real answer is "Don't get hung up ont he technique, just try something and see how it comes out.

    You have my vote buddy! Personally I don’t think I will compete for the next 10-20 years. I’m nowhere near here...yet, and just imagining painting this much detail seems painful for me. It’s almost like looking at the Mona Lisa, taking out my paints and hanging my poor representation of a Space Wolf right next to the original. You are a true artist sir. And I love seeing your work and I use the hobby cheating videos to practice deliberately. In the end, I just like to play with well enough above table top, painted army men or women. I grow small and slowly... 10-20 years slowly... I wish you the best!!!! You deserve a win!!!

    • @VinceVenturella
      @VinceVenturella  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you, that is far too generous (like way far), but it's greatly appreciated. Compete when you are ready. As long as you are having fun and creating things you like, then you are winning. :)

    Holly mama, that freehand is amazing.
    Btw, how did you get to the bone base from where you start on the Hobby cheating 29 video? Could you tell more or less how to get there using brushes.
    Thanks.

    • @VinceVenturella
      @VinceVenturella  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you, very much appreciated. The bone skull on the ground more or less follows the exact process in Hobby Cheating #29, the only finishing was I used some pigment from the secret weapon line and worked that into the skull along with some cracks and micro-detail (just like the battle-damage from that video).

  • @lysanderaurelius7810
    @lysanderaurelius7810 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Did you sketch all these freehands on paper first and then onto the parts?

    • @VinceVenturella
      @VinceVenturella  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For most no,because I have done these shapes a lot on other knights, but for the bigger more complex stuff, yes and then with a pencil lightly on the miniature. If you look at the detailed Freehand video, I show you my full process.

    • @lysanderaurelius7810
      @lysanderaurelius7810 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@VinceVenturella that video was actually how I found you, was just curious if it's still the technique

    • @VinceVenturella
      @VinceVenturella  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lysanderaurelius7810 Excellent, well that is ironic. :) - Yes, for the most part, I still often use that process, it depends on how comfortable I am with the pattern I am trying to draw.

  • @JohnKessler

    Where did you get the sword for your knight? In game play would you just use the rules for the Reaper Chainsword?

    • @VinceVenturella
      @VinceVenturella  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I made it out of the regular chain sword and bits. The skull handle is just both sides of a skull from the Skull Pack, don't remember what the handle and tubes are. But yep, just a kit bash and yep, in practice, just a Reaper Chainsword. :)
