      diving's made pretty easy in London, restaurants leaving full neatly packed boxes on top of the bins after close time

    i'm american i live in L.A. and it looks to me like homelessness is going up in all the first world industrialized countries. i'm 54 and the homeless rpoblem here in L.A. is the worst i've ever seen it and L.A. is already famous for having the biggest homeless population in the u.s.a.
    it seems to me like alot of modern technologies that could easily be used to improve things across the board for human beings are instead concentrating more and more wealth in the hands of fewer and fewer people. it's sickening. unfortunately the human race never figured out any way to keep sociopaths out of positions of power and wealth.

      Yep, same thing here in the UK, the homeless population has grown exponentially over the last decade, and the government just doesn't care

    • @truthsearcher596
      @truthsearcher596 ปีที่แล้ว

      But the government will have you believe that this is no way down to mass immigration.

      Well said my friend. The same thing is happening here in Philly and my best friend from elementary school is a struggling H and Fent addict. I try to support her in anyway I can but, I can’t imagine the level of despair and agony she experiences everyday on the streets of Kensington everyday just trying to stay well. These people aren’t criminals, they’re human beings and deserved to be treated as such.

    Advisory service for squatters, are great. Recently got 3 handbooks from them. Really good information regarding the rights of squatters. Been in 5 squats, way back in the 90s. Good times, and great memories.

      Spent a lot of time around crusties in the UK when squatting was legal a few years ago, weirdly never noticed a bad smell. Definitely notice it in other spaces though.

    I don't understand why these guys are homeless. In the UK there's a safety net called the welfare state, now I know in 2023 times have changed in regards to that, but this is 8yrs old. There was hostels, homeless shelters, benefits to claim (whether NFA or not). There was enough housing available back then to have your name down on the council/housing association list in order to prevent this.

    • @Mike--Oxmall
      @Mike--Oxmall ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Councils can choose to deem you intentionally homeless in which case they will not help you with housing. That can happen for many reasons, lets say you lose your job, dont receive correct benefits in time and are just evicted, then you also have alcoholics/drug addicts/gambling addicts and mentally unwell people. Many homeless people are are also immigrants who aren't entitled to benefits
      There are also many people who live this lifestyle intentionally as a form of protest, thats what many of the people in this video appear to be, they are hippies, many of these types of people aren't truly homeless, they just want something to rebel against so they leave their parent's homes to go and live like this, they actually have somewhere to go back to if they really get desperate, These types of people tend to be from wealthier backgrounds.

    • @Piccolo...
      @Piccolo... ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There's years long waiting lists, assuming that one is eligible for social housing. It's a far more nuanced situation.

  • @arandorapress7561

    It's woefully short on accurate legal information and the terminology is wrong and confusing. That isn't good film making. There is little to no information about anything much. I'd agree that establishment media such as the BBC are awful but this type of twee and shallow is not the best way to remedy those establishment propaganda defects. And before anyone whinges, I know about squatting, as well as criminal and housing law.

      They are occupying unoccupied dwellings that normally have no current owners. Squatters DO NOT = Burglars. If there is no owner of the property, thus there is no burglary. These people need assistance and even if this is just at least a patch work solution, it’s a solution nonetheless, to prevent these people from dying of exposure or hypothermia. Learn to have some compassion for those less fortunate than you and I….
