Zico was more of an attack-joiner and heavier scorer and Platini more of a creator and controller from the middle,though both could do both things brilliantly. So I think it's perhaps a little tricky to compare.

@@rjjcms1 Zico did everything that Platini did, only with more finesse and flair. The only reason Platini gets a higher billing is because of France's & Juventus' successes during the time for which many other factors were also responsible.
It is Brazil's and Zico's eternal misfortune that from 1975 to 1985 the national side was always in want of a pair of world class strikers and a world class right winger. In 1982, Santana stedfastly ignored Zico's request to play Paulo Isidoro from the start in all games. Consequently Brazil's were a lop-sided eleven, which got caught out in the tough games.
And in 1986, Zico was not in the starting line-up in any game, which was a blasphemy, for he has remained the best after de Stefano, Pele, Cruyff and Beckenbauer (chronologically speaking) to sum up an opponent and orchestrate the game accordingly.

I still remember his shirt after the decisive game against Italy in 1982 - 3 or 4 holes in it, completely devastated by the 🇮🇹 bastards Gentile & Scirea - This game was a football scandal ☝️ With refereeing standards 10 or 20yrs later at least 3 🇮🇹 players would have sent off in that game + Brazil easily would have won the World Cup in 82. So history denied one of the greatest Brazil players ever (Cerezo, Junior, Socrates, Zico, ...) & fabulous coach (Tele Santana) a well deserved WC title. Maradona had better awareness of the pitch and more confidence and knew when to go on full speed.
Zico was somehow less confident (you don't see so many prolonged solo plays by Zico).
Anyway he was a great player, but not at the same level as Pelé and Maradona.
People always forget his modest performance in the WC 78 (when he was 25)
