- ICJ LIVE: UN’s Top Court Rejects Call for Germany to Immediately Halt Arms Exports to Israel
The International Court of Justice has ruled against issuing emergency orders to stop Germany's arms sales to Israel. Nicaragua brought the case, arguing that Germany had breached the UN genocide convention by sending military hardware to Israel. The German government said the lawsuit was unjustified.
At hearings early this month, Nicaragua’s Ambassador to the Netherlands Carlos José Argüello Gómez told the 16-judge panel that “Germany is failing to honor its own obligation to prevent genocide or to ensure respect of international humanitarian law.”
