Oh MaCenna, I was in tears when you were telling us about Kinsley. Our pets are our babies. Nobody could possibly be disappointed you didn’t have a completed project to show us after such a traumatic experience. I’m just so happy everything turned out ok and she’s safe now.

Sweet lord, I would be a panicking mess. So glad Romeo thought to look under the house! Also, that hardware was a SUPER score. Gotta love those estate sales.

I know that pure panic when you think your pet got outside. I thought my cat got outside one time and I was running up and down the streets hollering his name in full on tears for well over an hour. I eventually had to give up and hope he would come back. Funny enough he was in the house all along even though I thought I had looked everywhere. He was just hiding really good. I was an absolute mess. The hardware you found is beautiful, amazing score! And I can’t wait to see the bathroom, those peacock curtains are going to look amazing.

Oh, Macenna, I know exactly the pain you were going through when Kinsley got out. Many years ago my pup go out of a friend's condo. She was gone for 5 days before someone saw her and I got her back. Fast forward several years and it happened again 3 years ago when we were visiting my mom and a maintenance man went into her apartment unexpectedly when we weren't there. Sadly, this time I wasn't so lucky and I've never found her.
I think about her every day and I will always hope that a miracle will happen. I'm so so glad and thankful that you were able to find your angel so close to home (literally) and you only had to go through that ordeal for a few hours.
On a more positive note, I'm sure you finally got that coped crown molding beat into submission and we'll finally see the finished bathroom in all it's gorgeous vintage glory.

This is a question about the bathroom sink: Don't you think you should add a trim of stone between the wall and the sink? I feel there is to large a gap there and water can get in that gap and eventually ruin the wooden vanity. At least in most homes I have lived they have that to avoid water damage of the vanity and it's a place where it gets very wet. Edit: Forgot to add that this exact same thing is done in kitchens, the counters that go aganist the wall all have a stone trim so water, food, etc doesn't get in the gap between the wall and the counter.

    • @veritorossi
      @veritorossi 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@tlew9429 The thing is caulking is for small gaps this is from what I can tell in the video like 2-3cm gap at least. That is not fixed with caulk.

When she planned out the slabs I'm sure I recall that she spoke about back splashes/upstands (though didn't seem to plan them into the cuts) but I've not seen any anywhere installed or cut ready to be installed.
There looks to be a lip of wood on the front of the guest bathroom vanity in front of the marble.
I've also been thinking that she didn't prime the back of the beadboard behind the guest bathroom vanity so I expect that will warp at some point

I totally understand your panic when Kinsley was temporarily lost! Two years ago we moved across the country and something similar happened to me. On moving day, when the only things left to “pack up” were the two cats, we realized we couldn’t find one of them. I completely lost my mind. After about 20 minutes of everyone searching and me going into a full blown panic attack, we found her hiding in a kitchen cupboard. When you say you were spiraling, I know exactly what that feels like! I’m so glad you found your puppy safe and sound!

Girl that happened to me with my KoKo, she slipped out the front door I was and FREAKING out calling her name, my neighbor and daughter where all out calling her well that must have scared her , thank goodness when we ran out the door was left open because she came back in and crawled into her crate, I walked to my bedroom heard her tail wagging, OMG what a relief ☺️ I was worthless all that night and held onto her ... Don’t always feel like you must put out working on the house content, girl we just like hearing from you ‘all . LOVE the sales and thrifting 🤗💕

That second cope you showed doesn’t look too bad. Sometimes for your first time it is challenging to get close to your cope line. A helpful tip would be to shave/sand down the excess until it fits tight.
P.S. I enjoy watching all the progress you have on your house. You’ve learned a lot and picked up good techniques and I can see that. I may be a bigger fan of your house videos than my wife is

We did all of our crown and I remember initially wanting to cope it also but we ended up not coping and just cut it with the saw. We also invested in this tool that holds your molding perfectly in place and at the right angle every time so your cuts are perfect. Its called a crown master-crown molding jig.

I understand severe adjustments to the door. Our golden retriever can open any door- indoor or outer door. The first time we left her alone, we came home to find our front door wide open and Ivory sitting in the doorway waiting for us. Another time, I was back in my office and I heard a man's voice say, "Is your mom or dad home?" She had opened the door to a workman! We finally got a keyed deadbolt and so far she has not figured out how to turn the key. So very glad your tiny Kinsey is safe.

I really felt your fear when you were talking about Kinsley's great escape, I've been through that a few times with my own furballs and its horrible, so glad she was found safe. Big hugs
Edit to add: re. Coping, remember it only has to meet neatly where its seen. Hold one piece perpendicular to your working part to trace the line then as suggested use a grinder (or trim the worst with a saw and use a hand sander with high grit paper) to work up to the line you made. Caulk will hide a lot of sins ;)

When moving house my cat escaped the car at a service station. She had a brace and lead on but managed to twist out of it. She ran through the car park then hid under a car. She had four adults laying face down on the tarmac so she couldn’t escape until I grabbed her. She now has to stay in her pet carrier when travelling. I’m so glad Kinsley is ok. It’s scary.

GIRL!! Pick up some Rub-N-Buff for your amazing hardware score! If you use a couple of colors to create a new shade, it will allow the different styles to work cohesively. You are doing a phenomenal job & I hope you are super proud of yourself. Hope you & Romeo have a wonderful & blessed week 🤗💜🙏🏻!
EDIT: For 'coping'… if you don’t have one, I HIGHLY suggest you invest in a Dremel or at least borrow one from your parents or a friend. It is a fantastic tool for intricate carving, sanding, cutting a multitude of materials, etc. I have a battery powered version as well as an electrical & more professional model that works with most all rotary bits & attachments, and it is the most used small(ish) power tool we own! There are even tile/grout cutters that perform the same if not better than the larger rental equipment. Just a suggestion 😉!

The same thing happened to my eldest fur baby Ellie. We live on a main busy road and I was sooooo sick with fear she had been run over or stolen. Thankfully my Mum found her in the next street over. We reckon she had gone out to find my sister when she went to work that morning. Our pets are like our children. Especially for someone like me who can not have kids due to my severe disability and the fact I'm almost 39. I'm so glad you found her safe and your heart could mend quite quickly. The loss of a pet is just as painful as that of a human family member. Thank goodness for a happy ending 🐶🐾🤎
Our dogs are all chipped and have lost tags on their collars. We are thinking of purchasing a GPS tag for them also.
Sending you, Romeo, Kingsley (your Mum and Dad too) so much love from London, England 🤎

Hi McKenna, sorry to hear about Kingsley and how upset you were. I know how you felt. Our pets are so precious and important to us especially when you love them so much. I am glad Kingsley was found safely under the house. She looks so cute with her new hair cut and smell. Have you tried This Old House for help with the coping? There is also a Craig jig that I have seen being used. Good luck with it, it does take a lot of time to get it right. We lost our Multipoo this past May to a stroke, he was 15 yrs with us, so we are still missing him a lot. Keep well, and be safe Kingsley. ❤

We had a flimsy gate that was never challenged by my 16yo almost blind and deaf Jack Russell. It fell open twice for one reason or another. She found it both times. 1st time,
after about 30min found her the next block down hanging out with construction workers. 2nd time she crossed a 4 lane busy road. I ran in my bathrobe a block to get to her. I thought I was going to have a heart attack from fear and physical activity I shouldn't be capable of doing at my age and size. I
just kept telling myself to make it back to the house so when I pass out at least she's safe.😂 The terror is real though. My thoughts went to her being hurt, afraid, suffering and dying alone. It tore me up both times. We kept the door closed after that and only let her out when we were with her.

I can totally relate to your reaction to losing Kinsley, I would have been the same crazy spiral state. I’m SO happy for you that she is found and unharmed! Have you checked with your municipality about whether pets need to be registered/licensed with them? My city has that rule even if your pet is an indoor only pet. Our husky got out this weekend too. He will usually run around for about an hour and then come back if we leave the door open, but we live near a busy road so it is very nerve racking when he gets out. We were sitting on the deck and saw a whole bunch of cars stopped along the road. We thought for sure he was hit, but it turns out all of those people stopped because they saw him running by the road and they were trying to catch him! He thinks it is a game and runs away when you chase him, but he came back to the house. I'm glad Kinsley is okay too! It is such a relief when they are home safe.

My suggestion on the coping is to do the best you can and then make up the difference with caulking. It is challenging! But you’re doing great!!

Try and section off an area of home, where she is safe and has room to walk around but cannot go far, a large portable pen, just when you pop out or in and out the house doing works. Then she is out of harms way xx

I had the same problem with my Maltese. We had just moved into a new rental and it was a nice day so left her in the backyard. I went out for about an hour and she was nowhere to be seen. I was the same as you. Drove all around the neighbourhood crying, calling out her name for about an hour. We live opposite a park and the she was. She was coming home from a tour of the park. Then I found out that she went to a neighbours house for "afternoon tea". The couple didn't know where she came from so they kept here there until they heard me calling her. OMG I was frantic. So I know how you felt. Glad your baby is home again ❤️🐾

I've never tried coping, but I've installed crown using the kreg jig & it was pretty painless. Definitely worth the money & something you may want to try if your installing more crown. I used some crap to make guides for right & left of an inside & outside corner; it really helped my confidence & minimized mis-cuts.

Firstly, I’m sooo so happy that your sweet girl is safe and sound!
Maybe an AirTag would give you some peace of mind 💛
Secondly, make yourself a simple coping jig and use a jigsaw to make notches in the wood and a coping saw to finish!
Enduring Charm LLC has a good video showing a jig that might help!

We live in the country, lots of woods. Biggest snow storm in years and our boxer ran off, we searched for hours without any luck. I was heartbroken and then 3 days later he showed up, I cried all night with relief. So glad everything turned out well for you too. ❤

My husband said that it is two angles. One is 31.5 and the other is 33.9. 31.5 is the miter saw cut and the 33.9 is the bevel on the saw. He does not cope, but cuts both angles and make sure that you have something to nail the crown to. I use 2x4 blocks to shoot the nails to. Glue your joints. That is for a 90-degree corner. What really gets complicated is when you have a cathedral ceiling, and you have to adjust the angle. Hope this helps.

So sorry you went through that with Kinsley. Always good to have lost dog material prepared ahead of time and to have a plan in place like a to-do list. There are great blogs Pet Rescues or Humane Society on what to do when that happens. Print and keep in a red folder. People don't seem to do this here, it would be good to include the post date as well as the day and time and location the dog went missing. So glad that Romeo found Kinsley. I have a dog too and I would go ballistic if my dog got lost or stolen. / Love the lamp and great score with the hardware!

I truly know how you felt when Kinsley went missing. It's the most terrifying thing to feel scared and helpless, not knowing where she is and if she's ok. It's a great big world out there for such a small dog and not everyone/everything is kind. I'm so happy that you found her and she's ok. God bless!

Oh your heart, I know how it feels, we had a 20 year old blind chihuahua who wandered off while doing his business, rolled down the hill just missing falling off a ledge that drops down to creek below our property. I was an absolute WRECK😭 we all searched for quite awhile until my Son finally found him, thank the Lord your Baby was found safe, you will learn by living now in house where all your weak spots are and avoid further scares like that. She was so happy to see her Daddy❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

She simply loves everyone so we really watch her close because she loves to visit people lol. So I know our animals are family and we love them. Thank You Romeo for keeping your feelings in check and finding her. MaCenna you will figure that crown molding out how faith. Your a master of all trades.
