I did a reset on my transmission adaption using ISTA+. I recently changed the fluid and filter. The car now drives so much better. Thanks for the vid Dean!!
I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Dean and his services! I can't imagine owning a BMW without ISTA D now. I know everything that my dealer sees, and what they don't want to tell me, and thus know what to expect before walking in the door. It's has saved me hundreds in dealer costs. Not to mention I can now properly reset every aspect of my car when needed. Dr. Dean knows these programs inside and out, he's truly a master of these programs!
Thanks for the video. Do I have to let the car sleep right after the engine adaptations reset to let the data save? Or can I end that service function, stay in ISTA and continue with transmission reset and valvetronic limit positions as you did in the video and THEN let it sleep after all three things are completed? Will the engine reset still work?
Hi Dean! I have a BMW 5 Series F10 and after battery change my car doesn't start, I have multiple errors but the one that I think is stopping the car to start is "VDM: Transport Mode Active" and I deleted transport mode with X-Tool but error still present and car still doesn't start. Do you think ISTA will fix it?
Hi Dean, Can I reset Gearbox adaptions on an F48 (2018) using the Launch Creader Elite that you recommended several months ago or by using Bimmerlink/Bimmercode? Car has only covered 20,000 miles and changes are a bit notchy. I don't have access to ISTA. Thanks in advance
With the foxwell scanner it asks you to start the car when doing relearn adaptions ?

Hi Dean, I keep reading on the internet about a complicated driving process you have to do after transmission adaptions reset, should I do that or not?
Hello - great vid. You can just reset the transmission for the shifting points correct? no need to reset the engine as well? In the transmission section there is an option 'oil change'. What is that and what is it used for? when you do an oil change?
@BMW Doctor do you know if there is a 'relearn' procedure for the ZF 8 speed transmission? I know there is one for the 6, but can't find anything for the 8. I reset my transmission adaptation, and now there is a lag in acceleration
@BMW Doctor what would the risks be in doing this on my M2 Comp? I got ISTA but not much on forums about running this on an M car. At the moment my gearbox is a little jumpy going from first to second in slow traffic and it's also stalled twice since getting it back from BMW after a ISTEP upgrade. It's still under warranty but would like to understand fully what this is doing.
Hey man! Quick question. Can I use same method you showing to get the car out of Limp mode? I have fixed the issue. But still I get a drivetrain message.
Please answer me ! Hi , i have an F10 V8 and Drivetrain malf. Messgae came out and i diagnosed it . It turned out to be VANOS solenoid issue , i dont know which one so i thought replacing all 4 of them would be best since i have 90K miles . I replaced all 4 yesterday and my car still drives like its in limp mode . I didnt replace them myself an inde shop did it and everything is correct as far as parts and labor . So do i need to code them or something ? Please help
I replaced my E63 SMG clutch back in 2013 (132kmiles) afterwards, drove it to dealer to get the clutch adaptation done. After fun 30k miles (162k) later it started throwing malfunction transmission in 2017 (stuck in R). I replaced salmon relay, battery, SMG fluid, ibs negative cable, module inside Ebox, fuses etc.NO luck ! Towed it to Independent mechanic for diagnostic still couldn't figured it out how to get the gear to( N). I got sick of it and stored my car in the garage for 2years no start. Today 2019 I decided to give another shot. Took down my gearbox, clutch, flywheel, and all SMG unit components all in great shape. Tested gear shift ,angle sensor, solenoids, pressure sensor are all in good ohms values. After all that work I still couldn't get the car to neutral. It keeps going to R in dashboard. My shifter doesn't do anything even if I move to N, or 1. My battery is at 13v reading after fully charge, same battery I bought 2017. Then the miracle happened!!I am still puzzled how I got it started. Heres how I did it, I unplugged my neg cable waited 5 sec and plugged back in, I then pressed unlocked car via key fob waited 2 sec I then inserted the key to driver door and turn to right to alarmed and turn to left to unlocked. I quickly inserted the key to ignition and FC*^%$ cow I heard click and N on dash showed up but quickly lost all power after 1 sec. Everything went out I re -unplugged my battery n repeat the process and shit started right up!!!! No smoke no hesitation just like what is was in 2013. I'm shocked!! I run my INPA to monitor status all is good even I unplug my battery on n off now stays in N. My guess was my car went to sleep mode or maybe when my old battery died it put the car into security locked mode.. who knows but damn it's crazy!

Great channel subbed! Dean Im looking to buy a cable and software. I would like to do coding for injectors and general diagnostics. I doubt I will do any programming and I don't have a voltage stabilizer anyway yet. What cable is the best for plug and plug coding and diagnostics with insta?
Man i cnt see engine electronics under power rail :(. My engine shakes a bit thought reset would help.... I kind of reset the gearbox weeks ago do u think, it could also be the cause the shake?
Great video. I want to get that software too. Will this work on my car? I have 2005 530i E60. I took it to an indy. The 1st thing he said was the I need a new valve body. At first the car used to give me a transmission malfunction error when coming to a stop from 2nd to 1st gear. I have INPA and did a transmission adaptation reset, I dont know if it did it correctly. Now when I accelerate lively, it shudders up to 20MPH until I let off pressure on the accelerator, from there there is a hard shift into the higher gears. The transmission malfunction from 2nd to 1st went away. Would your adaptation reset work in my situation?
I did this on my N55 535i 2011 after changing vanos solenoids. It resulted in giving me codes (164041) Exhaust camshaft: installation error and (120408) Charge pressure control: shutdown as a result of reaction. The car shakes like hell on cold start and and gives me CEL like in 5 seconds. I tried to erase them but they keep coming back every time I start the car. I didnt have any codes before but had rough idle. I even reinstalled the old solenoids and clear the codes but it was same issue. Could this procedure messed up my cam timing ?
Yep thats correct espically E39 thats the most common cause of E39 gearboxes giving up and failing people leaving the adaptions set for years and years of different ownership and different shift style patterns that they fail
Hello bro, great video!, i have one question, I have damaged my diff 3.38 on e60 550i and i want to change it with 3.46 diff after this will my transmission work perfectly?
Hi dean sometimes my 530d gearbox holds onto gears i thought that could of been because the seals under the mechatronic unit and not holding pressure or could it be the adaptions?
