    Put the cans in a bucket of hot water. It will keep the plastidip thin, and you won't have any globs coming out if the nozzle.

    I done whole 1995 Jeep Wrangler in Plasti-Dip and put in a car show last year. It looked cool.

    Cool...I did something similar to my front grill but I used Rustoleum bedliner spray. Turned out really cool...might have to consider doing this.

    Thanks for the "How-not-to" video. Hahahahaha. By the way, what is the long-term prognosis for how this holds up? Color still good? Chips? Peels? Any negatives/regrets for doing this? Cheers!

    • @JKitsTrav
      @JKitsTrav  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Fred Pearson color is still great, but had to take it through a car wash and it ruined one of the fenders’ paint. No worries though, just peeled and repainted. No regrets!

    Should be around 20 Celsius or 75 Fahrenheit to spray plasti dip and you can put cans into bucket of warm water to atomize the dip

    So how long until the plasti Dip oxydizes in the sunlight? I found out with my Wrangler that the Back to Black works better if you brush it on hard. I used a rotary drill brush. I gotthis tip from JeepMama here. It does a nice job in less time than doing PlastiDip.

    Thanks for the video. So how many months or years this Plasti Dip lasted on your Jeep?

    • @JKitsTrav
      @JKitsTrav  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This lasted about 2 years -- up until I took it to one of those drive-thru car washes after mudding. That tore it up. But I ended up replacing the fenders after that anyway.

    How's the plasti dip holding up on the plastic fenders?

    • @JKitsTrav
      @JKitsTrav  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Autobot37! I did a video here th-cam.com/video/jAt1aHikGQ0/w-d-xo.html if you'd like to see the update. It held up great except for the one time I took it through a car wash, the spinning brushes pulled some holes in some areas. But as a cheap DIY fix, I'd say it held up great. Hardly any fading either after 2 years (not garage kept).

      the plasti-dip held up great until just this weekend. I took it mudding and made the mistake of taking it through a pretty rough car wash...the dip did not survive.

    This is a bad example of plastic dip application. There are steps missing and "rules" not followed in this so called instructional video. Please visit the Dip Your Car TH-cam site for proper application so yours doesn't peel in a car wash and last much much longer.

    • @corinadiaz5616
      @corinadiaz5616 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did a lot of research before doing this to my fenders and wheels and they still peeled off without going through the carwash.

    • @RioGood
      @RioGood 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@corinadiaz5616 yes you did research and that's good but you didn't follow advice from that research. Application of any sprayed medium requires a stable or controlled environment to achieve a basic application such as one where temperature and humidity change can effect a poor bond of the medium. A good example of this is using a spray booth but very few have those to use or purchase portable ones. Another would be a garage with the door closed to try and keep the area with a relative non fluctuate temperature or use during the middle of the day that is dry and clear. There is another variable that is easily seen and that is the wind is blowing and that can cause contamination of the surface from particulates like dust or small insects. Having having weak bonds of the layers due to poorly prepared surfaces is the main cause of the product not adhering correctly. For something like these fenders they were cleaned and prepped for application but the fenders given the material they are, raw unpainted plastic is something that need additional time to dry. Usually 4-6 for this type of material is recommended due to plastic being porous but most just let them dry overnight. If you would have done this in your garage in the middle of a nice warm day and followed proper preparation recommendations you would have a end product that would not failed like it did and you would not of had overspray on the rest of your Jeep but you also had a slight breeze also so go figure why you got that result too. Next time just pay someone to do it for you so you don't try and blame the product for your poor attempt of using Plasti-Dip. Like I said before watch the proper videos and follow all recommend procedures...you might have to dig to old videos to find all recommend procedures since some seam like common sense to others.
