Enough with family is family. Toxic is toxic. And those family members were just taking toxic and entitled to a whole new level. They expected everyone around them to be a doormat.

      Fucking mood
Sick of people telling me to try make things work with my mum. "You only got one mum" etc
NO! My mum is toxic, abusive, transphobic. I'm homeless to escape that even
We've stormed out of police stations for them saying this crap. We've had A&E nurses blame us for our abuse when we went there struggling with suicidal thoughts. Not a joke

That poor old man falling down and that awful woman reporting him for public drunkenness just enrages me! My father passed away a couple of years ago from Parkinson’s Disease and he never drank a drop in over 30 plus years. But he loved being social and friendly even when they told him he shouldn’t be walking. He hated the idea of being dependent on a cart. He would fall in public a fair bit and that would happen a lot. Luckily it was a small town and everyone knew and loved my dad. So they would help him if the cops were called. It was stranger and awful entitled people who just judged a poor old biker man instead of helping one of the kindest men who ever lived.

My sister in-law's father had a stroke while walking in town, everyone passing by thought he was drunk and just kept walking by. Finally the police showed up and determined the truth but it was too late to prevent major brain damage. I'm so sorry about your sister-in-law's dad. We had a case a bit like that where I live.
A homeless guy who was stung by a wasp and was deathly allergic to wasp stings, went to a shop to ask them to call an ambulance. It was early morning and most people were on their way to work, so this shop was the only one open. The woman in the shop assumed the homeless guy was drunk, told him that customers couldn't use the phone and then forced him to leave. He collapsed nearby. Some poor person on their way to work found him and called an ambulance but it was too late and the homeless man died.
There was a case in the US, captured on CCTV, that involved a homeless man who saw a woman trying to escape from a guy who was following her. The homeless man tried to stop the guy but was stabbed and collapsed in the street. He was stabbed in the early hours of the morning. Had an ambulance been called during the next few hours, he would've been OK. However, people saw this guy lying in a pool of blood and walked right past him, assuming he was drunk. The CCTV showed two men standing beside him, clearly discussing whether they should call an ambulance. They didn't, despite the large pool of blood.
The poor guy died because people assumed he was drunk, despite all the blood. It was an appalling case.

It may be a state law from what I found out from neighbors. It is called the “common law right of abatement”. It has to do with the right to remove overhanging branches to the property line or to just trim the branches back if needed. The state law in Texas said that the owner of the tree was NOT obliged to trim branches or roots, but the neighbors could do so as long as they did not trim to an extent that harmed the tree or trespass on other’s property while trimming.

Some years ago a friend of mine had her leg nearly amputated, below the knee, in an accident. Once she was out of hospital I started driving her wherever she needed to go, putting the handicapped placard in my window so that we could park close enough to stores for her to get around more easily. At Christmas there was an incident in which people parked on either side of my truck, in the handicapped loading zones, so there was no way she could get in. In order for me to get the truck out I had to open the driver's side door a crack, go to the hood, and reach down to the electric window release. I could then close the door and climb in through the window, to get my truck out to where she could climb in.

@@beez1717 I've done that. Pulled into a spot at walmart. Parked next to a cart corral on the passenger side, leaving plenty of room on the driver side.
Came out to a brand new lexus parked next to my car, leaving maybe 3 inches to get my door open.
I waited a bit, then got a crowbar out of my trunk and proceed to cave in the passenger side door enough to get my door open.
      Got in and drove off.

The handicapped parking incident reminded me of an incident I was involved in way back when I was twenty years old. I was leaving work. It was raining and I was really ready to leave. Another employee who was paraplegic asked me for help to access his van since someone had stupidly parked him in. His van’s ramp could not open without hitting the idiot’s parked car. He explained how the controls worked and after a little trial and error I backed his van out so he could access it. No satisfying Karen confrontation but I got him on his way. I felt so bad because he was stuck outside in the rain while I learned how to drive his van.

My mother decided she was staying at my house for a few days, without telling me, knowing that I’m about 90% bedridden disabled with mobility problems (permanent nerve damage) and PTSD. She complained I was in bed most of the time, that I was using my disability as “an excuse”, tried guilt tripping me because I physically couldn’t do things, and took it too far when she lied to me and attempted withholding my medications.
The only thing I’d asked of her whilst staying at mine was if she could get my medication from the pharmacy I was registered at, which was in the large town nearby maybe 10km away, as I lived in a coastal village (the quiet location was best for my PTSD). She’d said she could, because she was going to meet a friend in a coffee shop a couple doors down from the pharmacy… except she didn’t. She said she’d text when at the pharmacy, but by 4pm I’d heard nothing, so I’d tried texting and calling her to no avail. I physically and mentally couldn’t go out, but had to force my body to get the bus when I was in a LOT of pain, I really struggled. The normally 5 minute walk to the bus stop took 15, my body just wasn’t coping, and mentally I wasn’t coping with her being in my house uninvited.
There were some kids bullying another kid on the bus, so I chewed them out for it and my PTSD was going NUTS, so I’d closed my eyes and just sitting in my seat. The kid who was being bullied sat next to me, gave me water, and told me her uncle suffered the same mental illness and she’d asked if I’d fought in any wars, she’d recognised my PTSD and was the sweetest wee girl, so I just replied “different kind of war”. She didn’t really understand but sat with me and told me all about her day, and she got me speaking, so I’d asked about the boys bullying her and loudly said they should be ashamed of themselves, and she thanked me. I thanked her and told her I was very grateful for her help, and got off the bus.
So as you can see, mentally and physically I was not doing good, and my mother still wouldn’t answer her phone. So I went to the prescription and shocker, she hasn’t bothered picking it up, when she was explicitly told they closed at 5.30pm (NE Scotland, most stuff closes around that time). So I texted her saying “have my prescription, getting bus home”. She phoned me at 7pm, demanding to know why my doctors was closed, when I told her “it’s a repeat prescription, I told you that, why would you need to go to the doctors?”
    “To get your prescription”
“You work in a pharmacy and know how prescriptions work, so I don’t understand why you didn’t go to the harm act 5 buildings down from where you had coffee”
    “Oh, because it’s closed”
“I’m aware, hence I texted you at 5pm saying I’d gotten the prescription myself, because you wouldn’t reply to me”
“Oh, so you can pick and choose when your disability is upsetting you, so you can ruin my holiday?”
“Wifie, I am in a LOT of pain and my PTSD has been triggered all damn day, don’t push me. I only asked you for one thing whilst you stayed in my house, uninvited, which you couldn’t do, where you’d have effectively held my prescription hostage, that you KNOW I need to survive”
So she got to my house and started SCREAMING that I was selfish for disturbing her, selfish for ruining her holiday, selfish for asking her to do ONE singular thing whilst staying in my home, uninvited, when she wasn’t paying any money or buying food, and selfish for ruining her hanging out with her friends and having coffee (when she wasn’t even bothering to reply to her phone), and I LOST it. I told her to get out, I was fed up of her acting like a bratty, irresponsible teenager who threw tantrums when she didn’t get her own way, for being constantly ableist, and for almost withholding my desperately needed medications that I need to survive, and for mocking me constantly. She refused to leave until I told her I would call the police, and that I wasn’t joking, because she was an uninvited guest being ableist, which is a hate crime in my country.
She eventually left, but not before slamming every single door, having a huge tantrum, screaming and calling me every name you could possibly think of, think of a female teenager throwing a tantrum, but for a woman who was almost 50! Once she arrived home several hours later I got a text saying
“That’s me home, not that you’d care. A car crash on the way slowed everything down, but I bet you wished it was me who crashed”
I cut all contact, for me, that was the last straw, I’d lived a life of abuse from this woman where she psychologically abused me, gaslight me, told me I was the reason she wanted to end her life, that I was worthless, and enabled my brothers psychological and physical abuse against me, and enabled his homophobia and ableism towards me, telling me I was being “sensitive” and that his homophobia and ableism were simply a “difference of opinion”, when both are hate crimes here, and didn’t see anything wrong with him telling me I somehow “flaunt” my disabilities… by talking about them on social media, to encourage open discussions about mental health, to get rid of stigma, and raise awareness about invisible disabilities, so she saw nothing wrong with how she treated me, or how my brother treated me, and I’d simply had enough.
She was so entitled that she fully expected free accommodation, free food, the right to emotionally abuse me, the right to gaslight me, the right to manipulate me, the right to weaponise my disabilities, and to withhold my medications. Some parents are beyond entitled.

If you have a tree on your property (within 50 to 100 feet of your house) you NEED to get an engineer and property surveyor, as well as an arborist/tree surgeon, to look at it. To see if it's interfering with your home. Depending on the tree species the root system will easily be 2 or more times the size of the canopy. So just cutting the tree down and letting the roots just rot can cause issues with subsidence and damage to your homes foundation. As well as the foundations of the neighbouring homes. This is also a reason why many trees planted along streets are being carefully removed. Because the roots interfere with the surrounding buildings AND the road itself.

The second story about the family that expected this woman to play host to them and serve them breakfast at 8am in time for their flight... well that reminded me of a story my aunt told me a while back. She is bed ridden and has been for several years. She only is able to bet out of bed for a couple of hours a day but event then she has to stay at home due to a host of medical problems and could cause her to pass out or be in severe pain. Everyone in the family knew she was sick and was sending her love and gifts and other support because she lives in Florida and we all for the most part live in New England. So her youngest step-sister just shows up one day unannounced and tells her she will be staying for a few days. On the surface this sounds great. The step sis will take care of the ailing sis and they will have a little time to bond. Nope - the step sis asks her what were we eating for dinner. Auntie says well um it will probably have to be take out since I can't really cook. Step says "I need my full meal." Auntie was mortified and hurt because instead of offering to make the meal step wanted so badly she expected auntie to get up out the bed to shop and cook for a guest that though she loves dearly, didn't ask to be there, didn't give any advance notice so plans could be made and made auntie feel like she was being a really bad host because she couldn't do the things she would normally have done when she was healthy. This blew my mind and I wanted to go find step and give her a piece of my mind. But the upside is that step never paid auntie a visit again.

    Here's a bit of a heartwarming story.
My family moved next to this elderly lady named Betty, she lived alone with her collie dog, Jackie. At first she was a bit distant, just a wave toward us whenever we saw her but that was it.
Then after a really horrible wind blew through our area, I saw Betty crying in the passengers seat of her car. Concerned we asked what's wrong. She said the wind destroyed the Wisteria her daughter planted, it was the last thing she did before she was killed in action in the service. Now the wisteria is dead, just a memory like her daughter and husband.
This was heartbreaking to find out. We liked that wisteria too, its flowers were a welcome sight on our side of the yard. We just never knew the story behind it. However, my parents being greenthumbs felt they could save it. My mom took a part of the truck that our neighbor discarded, and over the course of two months, my parents worked their magic on it.
We presented the baby wisteria to Betty and she was absolutely shocked. At first she thought it was a new one we bought, but when we told her it was from the original wisteria she just broke down. We had restored a piece of her daughter's memory for her, and she could not thank us enough.
That was about six years ago and the wisteria is growing between our properties again like it used to. Betty is still alive, during lockdown we were helping her get essentials and she's since been invited to our family celebrations so she doesn't have to spend the holidays alone.

One of my regulars at one of my jobs is disabled. I haven't asked how/why/what's going on with him, but he's wheelchair bound. His family does a lot of automotive/machinery custom fabrication. So naturally he's got a badass wheelchair, that has spikes coming off the wheels. A similar type of stupid person to story 1 had parked his brand new Range Rover blocking the van space in my store's handicap van entrance spot. The staff had offered to find the person that owned the vehicle to have them move it so he could get back in his van. He said "Nope. I got it." and scratched up the entire side of the car with the spikes, and finagled himself up onto the ramp, and into the van. He looked like he'd done this before.
The person with the Range Rover freaked out and demanded we hand over security camera tapes, and threatened to call the cops about it. Our store does not have *any* security cameras. But we did have an employee that took a video of where he was parked while the guy got his wheelchair onto the ramp for the van. The dude not only got fined for parking in a handicap area, but also got sued by the handicapped badass for the "damage" to his wheelchair. Which was backed up by the family's reputable custom fabrication business's receipts for what it cost to build the wheelchair.
To anyone that thinks it's ever okay to park in a handicap spot, even if it's only going to literally be 30 seconds to get a receipt for your gas, Go f*** yourself. Walk a bit farther for someone that can't.

One day my aunt visited my parent's house and just took a bunch of snack for her family. That snack was fully paid by my mom's client, and should be delivered to the client the next day.
But my mom is the non-controversional type, she panicked but didn't know what to do. In the end no one in my aunt's family seemed to be interested with the snack so my mom quietly hide them.
There was also one time my aunt tried to take home our cat, but my mom told her that she spent a whole lot money (a little bit exaggerated) to take care of the cat (food, vitamins, etc) because she knew that my aunt is a total choosing beggar (even though she is rich smh). Our cat was safe because my aunt didn't want to spend money on pets!

I laugh at stories about entitled families. My own learned decades ago that I am the only one who decides what's best for me and my children. My mom died suddenly last year, and everyone knows that they will never again see me or my children. Mom was the only reason I ever went back home. Now, I have no reason to be there. I am this way with them because of the idiotic jealousy expressed toward me and my children (especially my daughter). I have zero tolerance toward f*ckery.

Depending upon where you live some handicap spots are just handicap for certain hours. Although these are generally street parking and become general parking when the business in the are closes for the night. Incase there are other events going on

That last story reminds me of an incident when I was in the Air Force. Being single and living on base, I was happy coving any weekend callouts. Didn't happen that often anyway. so it made sense. One week I was asked if I could cover a couple of hours on Saturday.I said no as I was going away. A married female complained bitterly when she had to cover, stating that I should do it as I always did. Luckily I had a good boss who put her in her place. And I stopped covering every call out and out of hour flying, and let others take their fair share.

It happens a lot. Our house was alone in the neighborhood for 2 years. Our trees were many. Most were planted 1981. In 2017 a new family moved behind us. They did not like leaves either. Long story short Dad had 2, 36yr old trees cut down because he does not want confrontation in his 80s. Not before they went and hired an arborist to go straight up frim the fence and cut off 1 third of the trees. Not just ours. 3 other neighbors( our lot is big so they split my direct neighbor) they managed to piss off their 4 immediate neighbors within a month of moving in. The damage they did to 1 neighbors tree caused it to break in light wind and fall on their new deck. Destroyed it.
I had very colorful words for him when 2 weeks after we lost out trees he planted 4.

In English tree law you are allowed to trim overhanging branches back to the boundary, but must then give what you cut off to the owner of the tree...always strikes me as asking for trouble !

Tree story.... reminds me of my old neighbor. For some reason he had it in for my parents holly tree (it started as a small bush and ended up about 20 feet tall!!) It wasn't near the fence line, didn't shed onto his property and did not block his view of anything except the side of our house, but that didn't stop him from asking at least once a year about us getting rid of it. My parents always told him no.
One summer, we're cleaning up the yard and I grab the branch clippers to trim the holly tree back. It was growing over the sidewalk so I clipped off some of the lowest branches so we didn't have to bend over to get past it. My neighbor sees me and comes over really happy, "So, finally cutting that thing down huh?" I was like, "No. Just trimming it back so it doesn't block the sidewalk." He gets mad and says, "I don't know why you won't cut that thing down!" and walks away. I tell my mom about what he said, she gets pissed and swears "As long as we live in this house, that tree is NEVER coming down!"
Fast forward about 15 years. Both of my parents have passed away and my brother and I are selling their house. Turns out the grandson of the man who build the house heard about what's happened and wants to buy his grandfather's house back. He and his wife stop by and check out the house. As I'm walking around with the wife, she comments on how huge the holly tree is. So I tell her about it, about the neighbor not liking it for some reason and my mom vowing to keep that tree no matter what. When her husband comes outside she looks at him, points at the holly tree and comments "I've never seen a holly plant that big. It stays!"
They end up buying the house. Last time I drove by I could see the top of the holly tree, still standing in the side yard and undoubtedly still pissing my old neighbor off!!!

Parking....Also entitled people love to park over the line to take up two spaces with their shinning new cars. I used to have an old beat up VW bug and would park right next to them within the lines of the parking space they encroached on. I didn't care if my doors were dinged, but loved teaching these entitled drivers a lesson.

"you need to marry and breed because that's what women do!" is the most stupid thing i ever heard and the fact they used the term "Breed" instead of "start a family" speaks volumes for how little they care about you and just want grandchildren to potentially take from you for "negligence"
just because your parents want something does not mean you're obligated to do it for them just because they said so
once you become a adult you quite literally break the shackles of parents and you're free to do whatever you want and you are responsible for all your actions and they cant force you to do anything because you can legally call law enforcement

About the public drunkenness story. The guy isn’t old tho. He’s only 50. Although seeing a guy on a cane might be an indication of disability, not drunkenness.

In story 3, Mother Nature wanted to be petty and remind those neighbors she hasn't forgotten their entitlement and made sure to be petty every towards them every fall. Never mess with Mother Nature. She knows how to fight back.

That indian story doesnt seem like entitlement but rather following a culture than is extremely different from ours. It seems like to me that she was expected to be subservient because she's a woman. I'm praying for her, I'm proud that she can stand up for herself like that.

My dad was in a power wheelchair when I was kid. He and mom went to Home Depot and the idiot manger decided to put products in all the handicap spots. Argh 😫 my mom went off on them . I guess handicap people don't do home Depot.

Don't know how many times in the winter, all the snow from the parking lot is plowed into the handicapped spots.
