Restrictions have now been eased in Scotland, so me and my friend decided to head off to Loch Tummel for a wild camp and wild swim. The weather is atrocious to some, but ideal for me. Two nights and absolute bliss.

I love the views the vibe the values of leave no trace. Hated going to some lochs and seeing nothing but trash and fire pits everywhere. Spoiled the whole out in the wild vibe to see old beer tins and crips packets everywhere. Plus it pisses of the land owners and they start to push the good out with the bad.

Mate, thanks for the complimentary comment. At times I can't be bothered with it until I get comments like these.
My ideal camping conditions are dry when out and wet when sleeping, so I can capitalise on the therapeutic benefits of both. Tried to get more of the rain while in the tent but the battery died.

@@furiousfudge8240 What is it you do? I'll need to check those spots out, but I like a spot near water - even a river - for a wash lol. And it wasn't my 1st camp, I snuck out about 3 times to clear the mind. I was losing it...
@@MontyOutdoors I'm a painter and decorator. Thought u would have been out a few times for the head lol. I had been out a few times at the lily in calderbank too🤣. I like loch side camping as well just fancy a sumit camp. That shit changes quickly with the weather. Used to bag munros years ago but never camped. Should watch a youtuber Scottish mountains some of the views the guy sees are amazing
@@furiousfudge8240 Haha, the Lily Pond. Not a chance would I risk that. Don't get me wrong, I did think about camping in Drumpelier Loch, Roughrigg, and Hillend Loch, but not a chance. There is a wee wooded area behind me in Glenmavis, but it just wasn't discreet enough. How did you find it? No problems? A summit camp is coming. I have a small one this weekend, but a bigger one will happen next month. Never done one like yourself. And aye, I've subscribed to him. His videos and editing is just something I aspire mine to be like. The guy has excellent patter and a voice to go with it. All the best with the painting and decorating, my mates are struggling.

I thought there were only a few spots along the foss side, but surprised there was loads. When we first arrived we were panicking as spot after spot, after spot was taken. Then we found that one! Hope all is well with you.

When I car camp, I make top quality food. When I trek I stick to packets of stuff with rice. But I try and find extra space to have like a monstrous breakfast or dinner!

Magic video , & a massive 10 outa 10 for your swim too , I spoke to a couple o wild swimmers when I was camping up the resevoir a few weeks ago , decided to treat myself to a wet suit off Ebay, hopefully gonae get a camp & a swim this weekend , its Lexi's 4th birthday on sunday ...
Mate... ditch the wetsuit. If I can do it in February in my shorts, I'm sure you can do it in July!

Hope to eventually get a paddle board too so it will be handy for that , I want to see how many lochs we can camp , paddleboard & swim in , my knees are telling me to go easy with hill climbing...
@@onedogherman2926 Yeah, it's on my bucket list to camp/swim in every loch in Scotland. My fibromyalgia makes it incredibly difficult to climb mountains but I plan on doing it :)

Some lovely processing of wood going on, I spotted a Bahco Laplander there, just bought myself my first one too.
Got it months ago, Bugsy. The thing is near indestructible. Prefer the Silky for minimal effort but if my technique is off, bye bye blade. How are you finding it?
Monty Outdoors yes that’s the reason I made the jump too, I find the blade more durable.

Will do at some point!! Probably not done yet as need some kit, confidence and rather do 1st one with someone else in case i starve to death 🤣🤣 its on the agenda. Just need to sort at some point mate
@@paulmcneill1846 If you are based in Scotland, there are plenty of car camping spots that will make it easy for a first timer. I'd recommend getting a permit from The Trossachs and camping in one of their spots when they are open, as you will also have people around you doing likewise. There is also the wild camping sites at Loch Chon and Loch Achray - where I woke up in the loch as it flooded, was in a wild camping site that was closed for the season.
For kit, I alternate between Go and Amazon. Cheap and highly effective.

It was indeed, Jonathan. As soon as I'm back home the mood decreases and the widespread pain increases. I need it in my life. It's a natural drug with natural comedowns 😂.

Thanks for watching, Sam. The water isn't that cold and you settle in about 10/15 seconds. Nice one, mate. Hope the new job goes well, but surely you can still go during the week? At least it will be quieter.
Really want to give this a go but not sure where to start... could you recommend if it's a better option to go along the north or south of the loch in search of a spot to pitch up?

Hi Erin. This was a year ago, so I'm hoping it's still the same as plenty of places have put boulders up to prevent car camping. There's loads of wide spaces on Loch Tummel where you can park the car, sort of like passing spots, but I don't think they were passing spots. Or if they were passing spots, then you could get a bus or two in them. There isn't a designated car park sadly. My car was just up the hill from this spot and many campers were doing the same. You'll see what I mean when you use street view:

@@erinhart2385 There is plenty of places to camp on that Loch. It's just further along to Loch Rannoch they've put boulders everywhere and the same happened to Glen Orchy. You can always try Loch Tummel but I believe there is appropriate parking on the very east bank of Loch Rannoch with a few spots and a gorgeous view right down the Loch. Hope this helps.
Did you take your own wood or can you also burn dead wood?

The water was unusually chilly for this time of the year but still enjoyed it. You should try it! And I love spicy 😍😍😍. Trying to immerse people into my experience and I hate talking. I'll alternate between the two. How have you been keeping?

@@MontyOutdoors Camping was allowed from July 4th but I'm just waiting a few more wks before I camp out, not sure what the crack is up your way for camping out, i know the bothies are all still closed x
@@l-jshikingbootslippy3431 15th onwards. Although you can go caravanning and visit accommodation for as long as it's self catering but not wild camp 🙄. Although the police are cool with it and are doing a great job limiting people littering and prosecuting those who do.

Bin. We always carry bags and leave no trace. Sometimes burn it which isn't ideal, but gives a little extra heat.
@@MontyOutdoors Burning plastic packaging is a gigantic no-no. If you really adhered to 'leave no trace', there would be no "sometimes". You get a Dislike for that reason.

It was cool, but not cold. Enough for a minor cold water shock. Now in winter when it's only above freezing...
I do it for my mental and physical health. Reduces anxiety and worry, along with masking my full body pain.
