Let me know how you get on with the heater, will you mate? Really interested to hear what others have to say. I delved into it and asked for advice from others regarding the blue flame and carbon monoxide: for as long as there is plenty of ventiliation, you will be fine. Mountaineers use the blue flame from their stove to keep warm and have had no issues when the tent is fully ventilated. We had it on from half 5 to half 10 I think and no side effects. Someone else did a review and recorded zero carbon monoxide. It's not for indoor/enclosed use so must be treated with care.
That heater is no bad monty, when you said half a can for over 5 hours,I was really surprised,I thought it would run out way quicker. Pretty decent bit of kit. Must admit,I do like a camp in the hot tent in the colder months.
Exciting stuff good Sir. The wee heater looks good, for whilst one may use one's cooker as a heat source in a tent with a moderately spacious vestibule, yet in a smaller tent the tumble-home of the tent door fabric above might not survive the direct rising heat blast from a cooker at any moderate output level. Here though, the cranked-over head of the heater unit neatly sidesteps this problem by radiating the heat directly into the tent's core space.
True, but the tent wasn't moving, only that corner. The poles underwent stress and are now permanently bent - superficial damage though. That corner had a little ditch which caused the issue.
Have one of those small heaters and recommend them, but I would only use it in a tent as a last resort. With the high wind blowing the tent side in, one touch and.......... but I'm sure you know what you are doing. @@MontyOutdoorsMark, mate. Often in the Scottish mountains there is no 'wind Direction' per se, it's more like a vortex of wind hitting you from all directions, which is what you experienced at times. so while the tent is undoubtedly more structurally sound from the front and back due to the crossing poles, sometimes we don't have that luxury. Tents like the MH Trango and NF 25 struggle in the Himalayas during high winds too, the difference is they will typically brace the structure from the inside using their body and arms, adding to the pole integrity. Two people, one either side. Unless you have a perfect pitch i.e. even, pegs in well, optimal guying etc.. most tents will begin to tap out when exposed to 50mph wind I think. I can't even stand in 50mph, so it's no joke for a tent. I bought a second set of poles a while back as I figured if anything was going to fail, it'd probably be the poles. Big Monty coming up with the quality content that youtube needs, what a lad, Ive seen the mtn 2 pitched in ferocious winds and have confidence in it, and testament to the tent that you survived the night without having to bail
What do you think of the corner? Poor pitching from me?
Doubt a man of your camping prowess would cause that but you ken what the pitches are like squint and uneven, tussocky grass etc
15:09 option 3?
If you are talking about the "little chap" I may have urinated in my Firemaple... twice lol.
Great to see you guys out in horrendous weather again ha ha. That Vango stands up well. Last year i bought a Mirage Pro based on your videos and im really liking it so far. Keep the vids coming, theres nowt in telly!

Awww mate. I miss that tent so much!!! Have you had it out in interesting weather? One of the most underrated tents on the market and one of the last tents from Vango to have Yunan poles before they moved over to their own. And thanks and good look, Fraser.

Wow that tent did fantastic and love the look of the heater.
Look forward to the next one Monty 👍🏻🍻

Great stuff Monty, loved this one. You and Gaz are some team sir. 🙂
