Hey Mike. I love the quality of the videos recently. The cut screens between each point top-notch. I’m looking forward to the upcoming videos going forward. Especially if this is a new type of series where you do deep dives on how to get to different levels. Super helpful, and wanted to say thank you.
Appreciate all the valuable information brother. Epic quality on the video as well. Looking forward to growing my small business that I started 5 weeks ago. At 31 clients already and ready to hire a crew to help me service even more. Thanks Mike!
hey mike im 13 years old and just started a lawn care business a week ago and in the first week i spent 7 hours door knocking and handing out flyers and got no customers so i stopped doing that and tried nextdoor now i have 1 recurring customer giving me $90/mo and i have to pay my dad $15/job for taking me to jobs,my google business got denied,my phone got broke, and my google voice number got deactivated, and i have to change my name and create a new email and all,my dad owns his own lawn care business that he wants me to take over but its already failing and i want my own business, something thats mine and its so hard just getting started especially being under 18 i've watched almost all of your videos and i watched your $0-1M video atleast 10 times in the past 3 months do you have any advice for me?
A for effort. Don't stress yourself out. You'll be fine. I've worked a full time job since I've started. I'm on my 5th year. We almost have 50 yards, but Id say 85% would be profitable without me on the job. I have 1 full time employees, but the reason is that I have a full-time job to support my family. Whenever I think they're a customer that is price sensitive, I'll give them a reason not to choose me. I promise you'll be fine. Hard work at a young age can be a recipe for success.
Just chill bud - work for your dad, learn from his mistakes and wins. Once you get a bit older, work on improving the business together. You’ll be able to build it bigger faster and easier than trying to start from scratch.
Hey man just started as well. The best I’ve gotten is instant quote door hangers. If you had flyers with instant quotes and handed out door hangers for 7 hours a day for a week and they didn’t work then ignore this might be the wrong market. Best advise is the rule of 100. If you do 100 reach outs a day you will get customers that pay. At some point I would recommend getting a cheap golf cart/riding lawnmower and haul your stuff around yourself. 15$ per lawn is way too much to be paying for transport to make sense long term.
Do not be afraid to raise your prices. I am glad I did. Yes I did loose a few customers. But my profits went up and working less. Example Company A charges: $100/Month and has 50 weekly houses Company B charges: $200/Month and has 25 weekly houses Company A: $5,000 Company B: $5,000 Both company’s generate the same amount of money but company B does half the amount of houses so in return less fuel used more profits in their pockets. Stop focusing on the amount of houses you want to have and focus on the pricing.
Thanks for everything Mike! Can you do a video on your gross and net profit breakdown? Would love to hear your insights on how to maintain healthy numbers.🙏
Send them an email informing them about the price raise. You'll be surprised (if you offer a quality service) how sticky your service is. Many clients can't be asked to go find a new service provider if you are doing a good job and are consistent.
@mike hey big ask here. But the van in the video is from Vancouver? I’ve seen other videos with them. But I’d like to touch base because I run a fleet of vans and love the side ramp. Would love to pick their brain.
Hey mike i got a challenge for you I am a 38-year-old man that just recently lost everything in the back-to-back hurricanes that hit Florida an i wanted to open a lawn care business but now I've lost everything so how you feel about taking a chance an invest in someone like me by letting me run a business for you here.. i have over 23 years experience in the business
Well marketing yourself as a small company means you can charge more by emphasizing you have your hands personally taking care of them so it is more valuable to them
@@Tx.1987 he did not say 2 charge less ,but he did not say 2 charge more either. What I am saying is for example: have a professional phone number with monthly fee ( about $50) with 5 different options to choose from ( even though only u and ur wife pick up the phone), customer is going to think that u r a big company and u will be able to charge him more.
Mike has a point tho . What's the point of trying to appear a certain way for ego purposes when customers are going to feel misled and may not trust you as much. Being small doesn't mean you can't be super organized and clean . It means you can charge as much as you want because the truck looks clean, your equipment works well, your experience is great for the customer, etc , etc
dont understand why someone would steel from a hard working lawn care person... that is just not done. Steal from someone rich if you need to steal, or maybe find a job.... The lawn care guy works hard for his family... maybe he needs staff, just ask for a job in stead of steeling. This makes my head spin.

You the smartest 13 year old to date I swear. Keep going. That storm will pass and when it does maybe both you and your dad will be booming!

Great info ❤❤
How would I tell my customers that I raised prices do I go out and talk to them or?
Another question how do I get copilot and p4p

Mike sends them a letter 2-3 weeks prior its in one of his older videos with the whiteboard in the back
You can just google copilot and P4P. Copilot has a free version you can use to test it out and P4P has a free trial but is solely a paid service
so great man
In the future proofing section where you talk about bidding per budgeted hours. Can this style be used for Softwash / Pressure washing?
For sure! 95% of this applies to every other home service industry
Texas- how much you all charging for irrigation inspections? Currently at $250 (residential) commercial flux
Starting in the fall what are your thoughts about generating customers?
Hello, I live in California and see an opportunity for a turf cleaning business… do you do any turf cleaning

Do not agree. If you act like a big company and you look like a big company ( even though you are small), You charge customer like a big company!:)
