I’m working on starting up for Spring 2023. Just bought a nice used work truck for $7500 but it already had a Mow & Go ramp and a complete set of GreenTouch racks. Killer deal. Bought it on Labor Day. 😉 I just completed Landscape Business Course and about to watch the whole thing all over again, taking better notes and setting reminders this time through. Awesome content. I hand out 4 different color fliers. 1 color is a $35 lawn. 1 color is a $40 lawn. 1 color is a $45 lawn. 1 color is a $50 lawn. When they call, I just ask what color is your flier.
Very smart! Another way you could be more precise if you want to order less colors get a three different colors and put 3 prices, such as 40$, 45$, 50$. Then you have a sharpie color over the other prices and circle the price you want in red sharpie. That way you can have anywhere from 40$-70$ for just 3 color fliers.

Ahh finally figured out how to post a comment. Lol just started our lawn business in May this year 2022 that we are having a hard time finding part-time employee that’s bilingual Spanish English speaking. Also not making as much money as your videos show I work full-time and my husband does the landscaping part of the business while I do the admin part. Hard to help since I still have a job with another company. Any advice on how to handle the situation with juggling two jobs?
I'm glad I kept my full time job. I thought this year was gonna be great. People are really starting to cut back ,and also the drought. I feel like to compete with the competition you need a commercial lawn mower. The commercial mowers really do add to the finished product, and makes you stand out from someone using a cheap mower. But here's the problem the mowers are 15k+. Good luck everyone. I'm gonna take it slow . I want quality customers not a bunch of cheap ones.

Hey Mike! Great content for this industry. I am starting a lawn care service and am super new to this industry, and from my past companies, I have learned how important a great busniess is to the company. I have a question that would really ampact the way we open our services these next two months. The equipment we have 3 fully equipment truck and trailer with all the mowing equipment. The marketing budget is built to enter our market as the company has been in service for some years, and also funds to fill Roles for the company. I would like to be a able to connect with you over a call or some other way to discuss the plans and where I would like to scale the company with built processes and be a process driven company, so that my time is not in the day to day and more allowing a team run the business by following the processes.
This is very informative, but we also have put taxes into play. You have payroll taxes and every quarter sales tax. I would recommend to make yourself a check, so that you have have owe taxes at the end of the year, and make your estimated tax payments every 3 months. So, Uncle Sam is happy.
Im at 10k a month and looking to increase i dont even do any advertising. All word of mouth and customers referalls . Bad part is i dont do snow and its winter for at least 4 months here in central Ontario Canada. That may be the biggest thing holding me back other than hiring good employees.
How do I use Lawn Care Media? trying to get the door handers, however on their website does not have an option to edit the door hangers, I dont want a strange guy on my door hangers
Hi Carlos, when you purchase you will get access to the PDF, JPG and Photoshop files. You can make any and all changes using the PSD file. You can use the JPG file and edit on Vistaprint, PostcardMania, etc
Thanks for the clarification about the stamp for the EDDM I didn’t know about it and just printed postcards only to have the post office tell me I needed to have the stamp printed and most places that do the stamp won’t do it unless they print the postcards for you
Anyone that is following the business course or following your videos just needs to buy your media package. You will save yourself headaches. Any one that has doubts just know we have no affiliation with Augusta. So all of the information and services Mike is providing will save you from making some mistakes which in turn is time and money. BTW mailers do work in our failed mailer attempt I sent out 20 of the 2000 post cards I had made just to do a field test on the results. I did a Zillow search of recently sold homes in our town. I had 3 people call in and one turned in to a recurring customer. That customer had us re landscape their front yard and next year we will be redesigning their back yard for a landscaping project in conjunction with a pool. So in Mikes words “Let’s Go”
Hey Mike! Great video. I have a full time job that’s 6am- 2pm Monday-Friday. It’s a township job so the benefits are good. Currently I have 30-35 cuts, mostly bi weekly, with about 7 weekly cuts. How can I grow my business to be in and around $100,000 - $300,000 a year, while still maintaining my full time job and a family?
After watching this again, I find it silly to even offer landscaping until your doing 250k+ in revenue. Probably higher. If a customer wants is, sub it out to a guy who does strictly landscaping. You want your guys to be super proficient at one thing. Lawn care. Hire a guy to service the 32 clients with you, while repeating the direct marketing campaign. Now you’ve got a 100k/year business. Do it one more time, get off the truck at 150k, and focus strictly on marketing/hiring/sales. Do this and you’ll be at 250k by end of year 1…. I would recommend staying there while you accumulate more cash. Offer landscaping after doing 1 mil per year in strictly lawn care. Open your own landscaping division, to specialize in that.
I pretty much agree with everything you said, but I dont believe the last part is gonna work where you raised prices on existing customers by 50%. Taking a lawn that is $50 and making it $75 after 6 months just because you have a website. You didn't get those with a website, so why do they care and they aren't gonna pay the premium. I do believe that is when you can start charging the new customers the premium though. Also this is gonna be working from sun up to sun down with this much work and only a 21 inch mower and you are gonna be physically exhausted. Time to invest in commercial equipment that is more productive at that point. I really like how you break everything down in this video though. Good video. Wish I would of had this info 20 years ago.
He mentioned 60 customers for a cut. Only using 21" Honda. These lawns only 1k sq.ft? Otherwise, 1/4 or 1/2 acre mows would between 2 to 5 hours, each. There is only 167 hours in a week.
I have lawns I mow for over $200 a cut. My hourly rate is $80, which is my minimum of $40 a cut times 2, because I average 2 lawns an hour solo. I don't have a website or wear even a t shirt with a logo. I wear standard t shirts, usually yellow or orange to be visible to traffic and dickies work pants khaki or olive drab. I like to think my work clothes present a professional appearance. Give a quality service and the customer will pay, and if they want to be cheap. Then get rid of them.
I wasn't with my husband Mikey when he first got started in 2006 but what I do know is he started with nothing but push mower and a broom for a blower and a weedeater brand Walmart weed eater
Mike, the correct phrase is, “I COULDN’T care less.” That means you have absolutely no degree of caring about that topic. Saying, “I COULD care less” implies you have some degree of caring, and you could even care less.
If your only goal is to make money. And let me be clear IT IS. Wouldnt it be more profitable to turn those lawns into herb gardens? Or at least small parts.
@@TooTRUEtoBeG00D it's not a recurring service that needs done. And homeowners don't want to maintain in the majority of them... that's the reason they are hiring lawn care.
I’m all about business too. I don’t care about being a technician minded person, im profit minded. That doesn’t mean i skimp out on great services and so on…. I watch videos of other trades because im always looking to invest elsewhere and/or learn new tactics.
Great video but flyers and door knocking looks like you’re begging for work. You’re only going to get very low end clients that fizzle out fast if you get paid at all.
Why did you choose the dog for your mascott? I would like to see you talk about that at some point if you haven't. When I think of dogs, I think of land mines all over the yard, and that turns me off. Why do you think the dog works for you, because it obviously has.
Lol this guy shilling all his stuff with this - His design stuff for flyers, his insurance company, and his 400 dollar per month web site. Im sure there are much much cheaper options..
Happy to stand behind any of the products I sell. I don't have any sponsors and have demonetized my channel because I can't say the same things about 3rd parties.
@@MikeAndes You know what... Getting people to use your overpriced services to keep your competition broke seems pretty low. How can you put out yard signs on other grass covers when other company already cut it?
im goin all in this winter on website/marketing/advertising. started a tree care company 2 years ago and just got to the point where i can quit my old job. jumping into general property management now. upsell upsell upsell. im always trying to tell my customers all the other outdoor services i offer. 1 30 dollar lawn can open the door to a 2000 dollar tree job.
Love the strategy!
What about living expenses
What about medical/dental/vision insurance for your family? Putting money into an IRA etc?
What is the NET PROFIT after all expenses.
After expeses, cogs, gross sales, what is the pure profit percentage earned? Thanks
I'm just getting started with an organic ecological land care business organic pest and soil care. do you offer launch packages???
I really wish miike came out with this video a few years ago when I started Beyond Green Property Care
Do you have any locations in the greater Charleston area
Ahh finally figured out how to post a comment. Lol just started our lawn business in May this year 2022 that we are having a hard time finding part-time employee that’s bilingual Spanish English speaking. Also not making as much money as your videos show
I work full-time and my husband does the landscaping part of the business while I do the admin part. Hard to help since I still have a job with another company. Any advice on how to handle the situation with juggling two jobs?
Hello do you know how to register business? Or license? Idk how to do it. And I heard you also need insurance
$5000 zero turns aren’t bad at all. A serious upgrade compared to residential ones and not ridiculously expensive like top end brands
Quality used COMMERCIAL equipment has always worked for me. Saving thousands
Despite the fluctuation in the economy, I’m so excited I’ve been earning $45,000 from my $10,000 investment everyday 10days.
Wow! How’s that possible please I’ll appreciate your assistance on how to go about it.
I’ve heard a lot about trading and investing with Mrs Angela Cole Carr and how good she is.
Same here I earn $13,000 a week. GOD bless Angela Cole Carr, she has been a blessing to my family.
I am from Denver Colorado USA I connected with her and she has helped me a lot,she makes so much profit for me she is a FINRA agent, the best I can invest with so far ever since I came across expert Mrs Angela Cole Carr, my bad turned out being good and profitable. She's made success earlier than we thought.
Oh yeah She is always active on whats-app APK 🇺🇲
It can be done. I started a six figure pressure washing business for 7500. This year I’m trying to go from 150 to 250k.
Would you mind sending breakdown of where the 7500 went in the initial startup? good to hear

So, Uncle Sam is happy.
fantastic video
Im at 10k a month and looking to increase i dont even do any advertising. All word of mouth and customers referalls . Bad part is i dont do snow and its winter for at least 4 months here in central Ontario Canada. That may be the biggest thing holding me back other than hiring good employees.
Good for you bud and your word of mouth. Maybe just scrap all advertising together for everything, it not as effective as word of mouth.
Thank you for this video. You did a great job!!! What's the methods of charging if they don't have cash? Also making schedule? Jobber? Thanknyou
What happened to the 3k down payment you used for the truck ?
How do I use Lawn Care Media? trying to get the door handers, however on their website does not have an option to edit the door hangers, I dont want a strange guy on my door hangers
Hi Carlos, when you purchase you will get access to the PDF, JPG and Photoshop files. You can make any and all changes using the PSD file. You can use the JPG file and edit on Vistaprint, PostcardMania, etc
@@MikeAndes Thank you so much. So basically, I am buying from them, only the design so I can print in another place, right? Makes sense.
@@MikeAndes do u have any recommendations for personalized uniform online?
This guy kind of reminds me of that kid seen in the stands of a sporting event or something pickup up his shirt stick out his tongue and dance
Thanks for the clarification about the stamp for the EDDM I didn’t know about it and just printed postcards only to have the post office tell me I needed to have the stamp printed and most places that do the stamp won’t do it unless they print the postcards for you
You can buy the EDDM stickers separately if worse comes to worse
So in Mikes words “Let’s Go”
Aren't you glad you don't have to spray the whiteboard to clean it? 😂
Easy. Just gotta be in two or three places at once.
I went all in right after high school
Where can i do good uniforms and hats?
You raised prices on customer from $50 to $75? I think every customer would drop me. Just an opinion. Great video.
Good video, however 400 a month on a website is very expensive.
Depends on size of business you are building. One of my businesses we pay $5K/month
Mike, the correct phrase is, “I COULDN’T care less.” That means you have absolutely no degree of caring about that topic. Saying, “I COULD care less” implies you have some degree of caring, and you could even care less.
Wayyy to go, Joe!!!!😒
Very positive attitude but I think you forgot the most important thing to explain to every new business owner is TAXES.
I just bought 2 yard signs off vista print for $100 😬 and 2 truck door magnets for $165 😬 😳
The problem is finding people who are willing to pay $300 to mow their lawns.
He said $300 including doing side jobs, which are much more expensive than the mow
@@jamesp1979 That's true
If your only goal is to make money.
And let me be clear IT IS.
Wouldnt it be more profitable to turn those lawns into herb gardens? Or at least small parts.
The market for herb gardens is very small compared to grass cutting.
@@MikeAndes Every single person uses herbs in food. What small market are you talking about?
@@TooTRUEtoBeG00D it's not a recurring service that needs done. And homeowners don't want to maintain in the majority of them... that's the reason they are hiring lawn care.
@@BTLawnCare What a bullshit reason.
I’m all about business too. I don’t care about being a technician minded person, im profit minded.
That doesn’t mean i skimp out on great services and so on….
I watch videos of other trades because im always looking to invest elsewhere and/or learn new tactics.
Can’t make money cutting bi weekly yards
I have 4 customers. Annual gross is $100k... i may be doing this wrong.
Golden retriever is almost universally recognized and liked (especially by females - our target audience)
Is that first sentence you really beed to state how much profit that 100k a yr business will make from that initial 10k investment.
I’m not seeing you subtract taxes and all that
WHATS IN THE BOOOOOOOOOOX!!!!!
-Brad pit
Quite literally involves handing out or posting lots of, what ends up being, trash :/
Less than $500 a month in gas? Maybe in the 1950s...
People don’t wanna pay people the right amount to cut their grass with a push mower
Ooof on next dont recommend them
Lol this guy shilling all his stuff with this - His design stuff for flyers, his insurance company, and his 400 dollar per month web site.
Keep your competition broke by selling them stuff they dont need with ideas that dont work. You are a good salesman, but what you are doing will only hurt a new business owner. Meanwhile, your lawn service still running strong, and the money from your competition is the gravy on top.
Feel free to talk to anyone that has purchased my products and services and see if the value and impact on their business wasn’t greater than what they paid.
Have a great Sunday 👍🏻✅
@@MikeAndes Thanks for that. I appreciate your permission to feel free to talk to people about your "products" that you are selling.
