Mike you have found your niche. These turnaround videos are second to none some of the best work related content on TH-cam. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with the world.
This business model drives me nuts - Big fancy office, nice trucks, lots of chiefs with polo shirts yet the equipment looks un-maintained, the guys are getting paid the absolute minimum by industry standards, and the "chiefs" complain about guys not wanting to show up. This is the old school mentality, heavy overhead, and slave labor. The new model is low overhead and pay your guys $20-$35 per hour, they are the most essential part of the business yet the most neglected.
Most don't consider what level of money per hour, management makes you for your business. If they can't match the crews income, than they are a drain on the business. Management is a finicky department.
That "consultant" looks and sounds like a waste of tax money. Dude is texting during a meeting where Mike is handing them golden information. Then saying the crew can't understand a simple P/L and showing off a degree as an accomplishment when he hasn't built anything himself.
Yeah he was a perfect example of degrees don’t mean anything than just a piece of paper if you can’t produce much. Mike tried to cover for him with the part of he is not getting paid but that is a waste of space and time for consultant being there. Lot of promotion for Mirror Lake in this video that they could have kept out. Love Mike but feels like this one they took in one ear and it went out the other.
Mike and Team, Just want to say that this is some of your best content. The information you are putting out for small business owners is invaluable. You are an extremely effective communicator and extremely charismatic. Its fascinating watching these an learning along the way how to eliminate waste from our businesses. I genuinely believe there is more to be learnt here than there is in a lot of business majors at third level. Well done, keep up the great work. Hope to see you working with a business in the Chicago area soon!
What about the biggest issue? The owners are doing this as a side gig while playing firemen. 1.5 mil, 24 employees, no systems, and they're trying to run this as absentee owners
You need to be there day in day out to build the system that allows you to be an absentee owner. Then they don't listen to the advice about open books and p4p. And the name who the hell decided on that name.
It seems like all of the businesses that are failing are focused too much on looking like big shots and having 100 employees. Remember it’s not what you make it’s what you save. Don’t strive to be the biggest strive to be the most profitable.
@@Gregoman89my brother owns a tree company it’s been me him and one other guy for 6 years were at around 300 - 450 thousand a year , we’ve had an occasional 4th guy but mostly just the 3 of us , and his wife does the office things . At 24 employees they should be at way more revenue than that . And we don’t even work year round , mostly just April thru end of September or so with a little snow work in the winter which the last 2 years we haven’t done
@@dylanstevely1443 comparing a lawn maintenance company and tree business is comparing apples to oranges. Your revenue per job and revenue per action item are astronomically higher compared to lawn Maintenance. The reason why: tree cutting is much more skilled and dangerous
“Some people don’t work for money, they work for vacation or retirement” that dude with all those degrees is delusional. And I love the way it was edited right after the workers saying money definitely matters.
Thank you for doing the 6 week update. I HOPED they would do the 48 hour hard shift, but doesn't look like they wanted the work it would have taken. A shame because it would have really showed off how well Mike's strategies could work.
Great video, probably one of my favorite yet! Such a shame with that consultant, I know you said to not hate on him Mike, but you did more for them in an hour than he would do in a year!
Majority of people who start labor industry businesses don’t have the discipline to take care of their bodies so they can’t handle the labor themselves very long. So what do they do… take on debt with employees and equipment to do the labor they don’t want to do.
It seems as if he’s running the business while they fight fires. It’s not his business so why would he really care. He’s getting paid no matter what. Not the same and having everything in your name to lose if you’re not getting things done right.
It would be glorious, also isn't this the same guy who constantly tries to make his customers or their neighbors the bad guys in yt shorts by having them say he did something to them and he claims he did nothing wrong like blowing grass on their drives or something along those lines.
Man I really wish I discovered your Augusta franchise a month ago. I had the money to start in the solo operator program and plus some. Look I will give you guys one of my chevys as payment lol.
How are you suprised you’re struggling, you’re grossing 1.5 million on 24 employees. That’s 62k per employee. Subtract their pay, benefits, taxes, and workers comp. Then subtract your insurance, and debt payments and you’re suprised you’re struggling. You have to be higher grossing per employee.
