This business model drives me nuts - Big fancy office, nice trucks, lots of chiefs with polo shirts yet the equipment looks un-maintained, the guys are getting paid the absolute minimum by industry standards, and the "chiefs" complain about guys not wanting to show up.
This is the old school mentality, heavy overhead, and slave labor. The new model is low overhead and pay your guys $20-$35 per hour, they are the most essential part of the business yet the most neglected.

Most don't consider what level of money per hour, management makes you for your business. If they can't match the crews income, than they are a drain on the business. Management is a finicky department.

That "consultant" looks and sounds like a waste of tax money. Dude is texting during a meeting where Mike is handing them golden information. Then saying the crew can't understand a simple P/L and showing off a degree as an accomplishment when he hasn't built anything himself.

Yeah he was a perfect example of degrees don’t mean anything than just a piece of paper if you can’t produce much. Mike tried to cover for him with the part of he is not getting paid but that is a waste of space and time for consultant being there. Lot of promotion for Mirror Lake in this video that they could have kept out. Love Mike but feels like this one they took in one ear and it went out the other.

You are an extremely effective communicator and extremely charismatic. Its fascinating watching these an learning along the way how to eliminate waste from our businesses. @@dylanstevely1443 comparing a lawn maintenance company and tree business is comparing apples to oranges. Your revenue per job and revenue per action item are astronomically higher compared to lawn Maintenance. The reason why: tree cutting is much more skilled and dangerous

Then subtract your insurance, and debt payments and you’re suprised you’re struggling. You have to be higher grossing per employee.

Also, (ahem) if you think joining a landscape maintenance franchise is going to make you more successful.....think again.
Every single healthy male and female in the USA can become a landscape maintainer within one week....if they want to. That should scare you straight.
Get a skill, become a SKILLED tradesman. Then you can start a business that is potentially lucrative.
"I own a $1.9 million company". Wowee. Show us your bottom line; if you even know what that is.

I know the Mirror Lake customer and think they propped up them to much. Definitely need a switch to residential customers more for better profits. Commercial is great if they know how to work the relationships and budgets of HOA boards like Mirror Lake. Warehouse’s in West Ga probably will be bottom dollar clients and might be good to drop if losing profit.
My opinion drop the consultant, as it’s a waste of time, which yes is wasting money even not paying for his time. I also think he would have negative influence after Mike left. To many degrees and my opinion archaic way of thinking on business. His input was not even of value add to the video.

Hey mike, awesome vid! Might be my favorite turnaround yet. What did you think about the follow up? Do you feel like they did what they needed to and it will turn around? I think it would be cool to add that to the end of the video. Thanks!

the reason businesses dont like to share their numbers with their employees is because they dont want them to see whats happening. they dont like telling someone "hey you busted your butt for us, but your making less than bill who sits around all day and does nothing" or worse "hey i know im the owner and i dont do anything, but im making 20x more than you and your doing all the work." that is what they are hiding. they are ashamed.

    • @urbanrootslandscaping3874
      @urbanrootslandscaping3874 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

The guys doing the call are the guys on the media team who film and edit everything. I’m sure Mike delegates this call because they know the whole storyline well.

Ya im sure they know all the details and it also a good testimate to mikes delegation skills. Although, with things like this people are super interested in the follow up and if mikes suggestions actually worked. Just feel like the follow up gets thrown to the way side a lil bit. But Mikes a smart guy I am sure he has a reason for everything he does@@urbanrootslandscaping3874

Putting them on salary just to eliminate overtime is a b.s. move and I can guarantee that came from the "consultant". It's actually illegal in some places to do that and in some places if a person is salary but under a certain threshold they still have to be paid overtime.

I saw one thing on that talent sign that is absolute BS, "Doing a little extra". Yeah, no thanks! Unless that business is "doing a little extra" for you as an employee, then you don't ever "do a little extra" for them. Also, if that other guy did $100k fraud, why isn't he in jail?
