Brilliant - this was the first race my dad ever took me to, I was 3 years old! We went to Oulton Park many, many times over the years, thank you for sharing this

I was there aged six. I can even remember the Ferrari white exhaust tangle.

I was there as an eight year old with my father who was Chief Pit Marshall for the meeting . I played with Damon Hill who was same age. If you look at about 1.30 he’s in the blue at the rear of the cars. There was a doghouse club for wives and girlfriends and when the racing was on Dad left me with Damon and Bette Hill. I went to all the races but Damon didn’t usually at that time. I had a crush on Piers Courage’s Wife who was in a macrame dress and reminded me of one of the Angels from Captain Scarlet….although I was known around the paddock I was borrowed by sports Reporter Duncan Meeser for a pic used on the cover of that nights Manchester Evening News in the pits getting an autograph from Graham Hill in the Lotus , which was paid for by a lap around Oulton at lunchtime in Robin Darlington’s Purple GT40. Happy days….

0:22 - amazing exhaust stack arrangement! It is also interesting to note the various different set-ups for the rear wings - the Ferraris had mid-mounted wings, while the rest of the cars had rear-mounted wings, with one of the Lotuses running the very high wing setting that was eventually banned later in the year after several accidents caused by wings collapsing at high speeds.
