The flute sound is a Mellotron - a keyboard that triggered loops of real, pre-recorded flutes on actual 1/4” tape inside the keyboard. The tapes spun for like 30 seconds and then rewound to the beginning to play the loop over again. Crazy but true.
I watched led zeppelin preform Stairway to heaven in Sydney Australia February 1972. I still now living in Perth Western Australia love my led Zeppelin.
73 year old lady here; and joined the hippies in San Francisco after High school graduation. Out of all the phenomenal bands I heard during the next few years, Led Zeppelin was my favorite; and I was blessed to see them in concert more than once. I even knew during that time that this band, their music would transcend way beyond my generation to be enjoyed by my children, my grandchildren, my great grandchildren… and beyond.
I just love seeing a youngster hear this song for the first time. As a child of the 60s and 70s I grew up with this song, which was voted year after year the best rock song of all time. It was so nice to see someone hear this song with new ears. At 60 years of age this song still moves me like it did the first time. Timeless classic!
Haha I also love appreciation for the music we had around us way back when. How wealthy we were, in retrospect. Mind you, teenager me dancing to Black Dog on a Sat night would most likely have just gone, Eh? to this comment. 😄
We must be as one. I'm 61 & have the same feelings/nostalgia. I still sometimes shed a tear when I hear this (usually after a few beers/wines!!😂). What an era to be in our teens/early twenties with LZ & Pink Floyd. Magical.
Robert Plant, the vocalist and the writer of the lyrical passage of Stairway to Heaven, describes this song as an allegorical poem illustrating the dichotomy between spiritualism and materialism.
THAT was one of the best reactions to Stairway To Heaven that I've ever seen. You FELT the music and it showed (not to mention how sensual and fluid your movements and gestures are-- you're a joy to watch). I see this was a year ago. I hope you're still doing reactions and I want more! I subscribed, so I hope YT will put more of your reactions in my feed.
Welcome to my channel thanks for your heartfelt comment! Yes I do reactions we have covered a ton of led zeppelin songs on this channel since this one was uploaded. As well as other artists you may like. Look around :). Or Google my channel name and a particular song you are looking for to see if I have it
Oh my! You are so beautiful, elegant and classy. What a lady and a star. You are the most beautiful young lady I have ever seen on utube or anywhere. Loved your reaction too.
It can't be overstated how well Robert Plant singing is on the opening verses; his phrasing is dynamic and dramatic at the same time. He builds a sense of drama and transcendence as he laments about universal themes of yearning, motion, time and energy.
The line "if there's a bustle in your hedrow" is just a way to say should you find yourself in a place in life where you have to start over (a new beginning from some sort of problem or hardship in your life), dont be alarmed now (it's quite common in life, we all suffer hardships) and as long as you're alive you can still change the road you're on.
he arrangement for "Stairway" is brilliant in that there are only 7 instruments, yet it sounds much bigger. The beginning of the song is mostly acoustic guitar and mellotron flutes, and a Fender Rhodes electric piano holds down the bass from the 1st B section onwards to the C section."
Nice to see your beautiful face react to this, the best rock ballad ever written! Bring s me back to days of my youth! You're charming and nice! Refreshing! Bellissima 🤌
Jimmy used an acoustic six string early, added an electric twelve string with Jonesy on the recorder and electric piano. Bonzo kicks in about four minutes in, throw it to the fanfare, one of the greatest solos ever laid down, and the rocking finale. Violated every rule of recording....the song accelerates as it goes. Brilliant arrangement and musicianship. Jimmy Page is almost unearthly with the musical ideas swirling around in his head. And, this was 1971, not some computer generated, auto tuned fabrication.
@@thedata831 Was at the Wembley Live Aid,great day.Saw them at the U.S. one,and yeah pure shite!!!Page wasted, Collins hadn't a clue what he was supposed to be playing, no rehearsal ,.. blah de blah. But 2007 when they did rehearse and get sorted, gives you some idea of what they were like in their prime. The answer.......Breathtaking!!!!..Done☘
This song is the most requested song on rock radio. This is just the tip of the iceberg, Led Zeppelin had so many different styles. None of their albums sound the same. They are the greatest rock and roll band ever. Each member could play multiple insturments. The keyboard player was playing the keyboard with his hands and the bass with foot pedals. They were just incredible musicians.
“The meaning of "Stairway to Heaven" "When I run or hike my mind often plays songs repetitively. If I don't like the song or don't know enough of the lyrics to make it a pleasant experience the resulting monotony can get quite burdensome. But if I'm lucky, a beautiful ballad that I know and love will play and I can enjoy the experience. "Stairway to Heaven" is one such song. Written in 1971 by Robert Plant and Jimmy Page, performed by the incomparable Led Zeppelin, it played endlessly on the radio when I was in high school. And every time it came on, I turned up the volume and let the spell of that song carry me away. At over 8 minutes long, with lyrics scattered sparsely throughout, it's arguable that the lyrics aren't central to the song. It's one of the greatest rock anthems of all time - who even listens to the lyrics? I certainly didn't. Not until it started playing endlessly in my head. When you are forced to listen to a song 15 times in a row, you get past the awesome guitar solos and the ethereal mood of the song and you start to wonder, "What the F--- is this song really about?" At least I do. When I first heard the song it seemed to be about some rich lady who bought her way into heaven. The line "your head is humming and it won't go, in case you don't know" seemed appropriate to the endless loop I was experiencing. But it took a long time for the story to come together in my mind. As I got into it, there seemed to be a lot of non-sequiturs. Consider the line "in a tree by the brook, there's a songbird who sings, sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven." Where did THAT come from? We were just talking about the Stairway lady. It made me wonder. In time I realized the song is not a linear story. It's a series of images altered by the later context. It's kind of like a movie that starts in the middle of the story and only later supplies the context to understand what you've seen. "There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold, and she's buying a stairway to heaven." The lady and her stairway represent materialism. There's also a hint that she may be misguided because all that glitters is NOT gold. "When she gets there she knows, if the stores are all closed, with a word she can get what she came for." Money, privilege and power. Pretty simple so far. "There's a sign on the wall, but she wants to be sure, 'cause you know sometimes words have two meanings." She doesn't trust anyone. Money has cut her off from people. Then comes the apparent non-sequitur. "In a tree by the brook, there's a songbird who sings, sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven." So far the song has been about a lady and a stairway, or if we're already on the metaphorical bandwagon, it's about materialism and the way that cuts us off from other people. We can't understand this line except in the context of the rest of the song, but we'll soon see that a change from an old way of thinking to a new one is the real theme of this song. So eventually we'll understand that this line starts the real theme of the song and everything that came before it is a metaphor for the old way of thinking. The refrain is "Oooo, it makes me wonder." Wonder what? The singer is rethinking something. But what? The story takes a personal turn with the line, "There's a feeling I get when I look to the west and my spirit is crying for leaving." This is a lovely poetic line that boils down to "Facing death makes me think about what's important in life." Because the sun sets there, west has been a metaphor for death since at least ancient Egyptian times. "In my thoughts I have seen rings of smoke through the trees and the voices of those who stand looking." Rings of smoke denote campfires, indicating that people live there, despite being hidden. Those who stand looking are people who witness evil, but say nothing. The people in his thoughts are coming out of hiding to stand up for what's right. "And it's whispered that soon, if we all call the tune, then the piper will lead us to reason." The vision continues. The tune and the piper are musical metaphors connoting the spread of the goodness and truth seen in the vision. "And a new day will dawn for those who stand long and the forest will echo with laughter." As the vision gathers momentum, the people are no longer hiding in the trees. But we're still not sure what this great vision really is. Does it have anything to do with the lady or the materialism she represents? In the next few lines, we the listener are brought into the song somewhat ambiguously. "Your" and "you" could refer to the lady, but as we'll see later, they don't. "If there's a bustle in your hedgerow, don't be alarmed now. It's just a spring clean for the May queen." Very poetic again, and very British. Some translation is needed. In rural England the hedgerow is the line of shrubs denoting the property line between your estate and the next, so a "bustle in your hedgerow" means something is changing in your life or your mind. The May queen was chosen by a village to represent youth, beauty, newness, and hope for a better future. So this line boils down to "if your old ideas start crumbling, don't be alarmed, you have new and better ideas forming in their place." It's also possible that the May queen is another reference to the lady, though significantly changed in her ways. "Yes there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run, there's still time to change the road you're on." This is a major clue to the still nebulous vision. It's a vision about a change for the better, one that we the listener can make. "Your head is humming and it won't go, in case you don't know. The piper's calling you to join him." Since the bustle, hedgerow and May queen were so mysterious, this stanza restates and clarifies the previous one. The piper, as mentioned earlier, represents the vision, now evidently an idea because it is humming in our head. It's also a popular idea because here the piper is portrayed like the Pied Piper whose pipe magically lured rats and children to follow him. "Dear lady can you hear the wind blow, and did you know, your stairway lies on the whispering wind." There's a lot going on here. Blowing wind is a metaphor for popular opinion, just as it was in many other songs from this era. Now we see the flaw in materialism, represented by the lady. Her money is only good if people accept it. And her reliance on it has cut her off from those people to the point where she may not be able to hear them at all. "Dear lady" is a clue that the lady also represents the materialist part of ourselves, one of the "two paths you can go by." "And as we wind on down the road, our shadows taller than our souls." I really love this image. This song could have been about other people's flaws, but it's not. As time goes by, we inevitably grow more materialistic. One day we realize that we haven't lived up to the idealism of youth. Our material selves are now more important to us than our spiritual selves. But why shadows? A close inspection of the entire song shows a consistent differentiation between things seen and things heard. Things seen are false and misleading. Things heard are real and from the heart. This might seem strange, but remember, we're listening to a song. The truth is coming to us aurally, not visually. "There walks a lady we all know, who shines white light and wants to show, how everything still turns to gold." The shadows of the previous line come from the shining white light of a materialistic point of view. If we cast a shadow, it's because our materialism is showing. "And if you listen very hard, the tune will come to you at last." The tune returns. Like last time, the tune is the new way of thinking, the second path, the non-materialist way of living that is more genuine, and keeps us connected to other people. "When all are one and one is all. To be a rock and not to roll." It's too bad this line is so hard to understand in the recording because it really ties everything together. If the new way of thinking is good for one person, it's even better for a group. If enough like-minded folks get together and form a community then we'll live in a real, solid and reliable paradise. "And she's buying a stairway to heaven." If not, the materialists will take advantage of the rest of us. So that's how I interpret the song. It has added immensely to my enjoyment of Stairway to Heaven. I hope it does the same for you. Brian Robinson” This is the best interpretation of “Stairway to Heaven” lyrics I encountered so far. If you/anyone knows a better one, please share. “... It's one of those songs where… if you have a moment, with either someone else or just a moment where you're watching the sun rising or something… It's one of those moments that, this piece of music, if it connects, it's going to connect fully, into every vein you've got going, and makes something inside you… Your little atoms are stirred by it. Your being… it's one of those songs that actually connects with your being.” Krusher More than a Rock band, Led Zeppelin is an experience. An emotional rollercoaster able to show you places and feelings deep within yourself, that you, yourself, never knew existed. That is the reason, I think, Led Zeppelin is the greatest Rock band of all time.
My brother was in the service the 60s. He brought home a Harmon Karden stereo system with albums and 8 tracks and a Sony reel to reel. I was 12 in 1969 . So blessed to have had music from this Era. It never goes out of style. Led Zeppelin. Moody Blues, ELO, Cream, Creedence, Elton, Grand Funk,Wakeman, Hendricks. Wish I could go back. Such great memories of a great childhood.
I loved how you came alive when Jimmy switched from 12 string to 6 string and amped it up. You have a true feel for the music, and a pure soul. I was in high school when this album came out and bought it as soon as it hit the shelf. I've enjoyed this song a million times, but watching you hear it for the first time makes my heart sing! Thank you!
Loved your reaction, it was pure, and not too many people react genuinely by listening to the song actively and letting it penetrate their soul, you did and I loved how genuine you were keep up the good work.
It’s so heartening to see young women like you enjoying Led Zeppelin. I was 14 when the album came out. I’m so content to see young women like you getting what they are about.
And I believe the reference to piper is the one to the Pied Piper, who can only lead us to drown. Such a beautiful and haunting allegory! The lyrics are sheer poetry.
If I'm not mistaken, you should be right. Pay attention to what he says after that. He speaks of the new day dawning for those standing long (not following the piper) and the forest basically laughing at the ones that followed the piper to the slaughter. Plant was an amazing lyricist.
@@janelson41 And the amazing thing that he offers so many levels for imagination that, although, you and I agree, other people may find something else. And Plant may have meant something totally different. That's the magic of literature. Same with the Beatles. People wrote thousands of pages trying to interpret what they meant by this or that, and John, Paul, George, and Ringo just smirk as if to say: Good luck, you'll never guess. Thanks for your thoughts.
the best way to do zeppelin is go in order from track 1 (good times bad times). they EXPLODED right out of the gate and just kept going! they have soooo much quality and diversity
@@bishlap did you ever see zeppelin live? Well I did, I also saw 3 reunions and page and plant. When they did rain song it brought the roof down. It sounded like a jet was landing in Madison square garden. You're crazy if you think it's a girl song. Most bands that split up over 40 years ago would have most of their songs over played on classic rock radio. They've sold 100 million records so I'll leave it at that. If you haven't seen zeppelin live you've been deprived and the rain song is a vibe, it's not zep 1 or 2 but it's still a great song. I'll take it anyway over all the shit that's come out in the past 40 years, there still isn't a better band than Zep and I've seen them all. I was a ticket broker for years,so not only did I see all the best rock and soul and Motown acts but I saw them in the first 10 rows. Including Sabbath, Van Halen, GNR and frank Sinatra. Nothing can touch 60s and 70s music. There is no comparison. It's based on taste and musical knowledge and I'm an authority. I've seen hundreds of shows over 4 decades. Today's music is garbage and the rain song is epic, you're dead wrong!
The difficulty for a western audience is that this is one of (if not the) most played rock songs of all time and so it is difficult to have a new perspective on it. But it encapsulates everything that the composers wanted from it. Robert Plant recalls writing the lyrics and practically 'leaping out of the chair' when he saw what he'd put down - whilst Jimmy Page's solo remains one of his crowning achievements on the guitar.
A great intro editorial into a Zeppelin magazine special says, "Like a Japanese puzzle, each layer of their music unveils an even more complcated portion". or words to that effect.
Woman, your smile when the drums came in! One of the greatest things I've seen! So glad you're loving this music that has been magic to so many for all of our lives. Also you clearly have an appreciation for the layers in story telling. We are all less alone in this, here. Welcome to the Greatest Rock band ever!
This song is like time machine for me, it brings my childhood back. The guitar solo is spot on right to the heart and can never be duplicated while keyboards shadowing smoothly with the drums attack was perfect and vocal climax are amazingly beautiful. Go to Since I've been loving live at MSG 1973 ..
I have lived this song since it came out saw them with my dad 7 times but my fiance and me were driving in early Dec 2013 and we were singing it loud in the car a vintage 82 caddy maybe the best moment of my life the next day she was killed by a drunk driver I had it played at her funeral thank you for your reaction pure joy
@@MrsPenPal needless to say the song has great meaning for me I did see Robert plant and Alison Krause last month you should check them out his voice has not lost any of it's quality
Greetings from Canada. What you thought were flutes were- in fact- three different recorders played by John Paul Jones (called Jonesy within the band). In the Live version (which you really should view: LIVE MSG, NYC, 1973) he recreates the sounds on a Mellotron (an earlyish synthesizer). Peace, love and bellbottoms. btw NOT your first Zep... you did "Since I've Been Loving You" six days ago.
@@MrsPenPal Starts with acoustic guitar and JPJ’s recorder tracks, the 2nd section also brings in two different 12-string electric guitars. JPJ also starts playing a Fender Rhodes keyboard when those 12 string electrics come in. Jimmy Page used his Fender Telecaster for the solo, plugged into his trusted and mythical Supro guitar amplifier. Not a ton of instruments, but a great arrangement with the ones they used. Wonderful to watch you rock out to music I’ve rocked out to for decades, thank you!
Back in the day this mesmerizing song was voted New Orleans' favorite song for 10 years in a row! Two of my fave LZ songs are Ramble On and Dazed and Confused. Oh, and let's not forget Kashmir. Happy listening!
I was 13 years old living in New Orleans when I first heard Stairway to Heaven. 50 years later I still remember the time and place; it’s etched on my soul.
Yes! Yes! A thousand times yes! By all means listen again and again. This masterpiece is an introspective examination of the meaning of life and the anthem of my generation. John Paul Jones played bass and 3 recorders. John Bonham played drums Jimmy Paige, who wrote and produced, played a 12 string acoustic guitar and a Gibson Les Paul electric guitar. The tempo increases twice. The solo is considered among the greatest ever and if it doesn’t move you to tears there’s something wrong with you. It should be noted, prominently, that this is a collaborative effort by 4 geniuses. Even more worthy of note in this day and age is that it was all done by hand. There were no beats or samples or computers back then. Every single note is an original creation of the mind of the artists and performed manually. Think about that for a minute. Then listen again. It will take many times to take in all the subtlety and nuance. THIS is real music.
@@MrsPenPal let me suggest you 3 acoustic (or almost acoustic) ballads by LZ ...........3 absolute masterpieces..............Thank you..........The battle of evermore.........Going to California
Hi Blessing MrsPenPal, You're looking radiant and this beautiful music is lighting your soul up! Led Zeppelin was my favorite Rock/Blues band growing up in my teen years. I loved how deeply you were feeling this great music. You were right into that amazing guitar solo and your enthusiastic grooving to the music made me feel like dancing along with you. :)
Hi Matthew thanks Pal. Surely join in the dance. We just premiered Kashmir and that was another experience altogether. See here th-cam.com/video/gZQsPxugs_8/w-d-xo.html
I love your reaction to this song. It reminds me of how I felt when it first came out in 1971. There was a lot of very, very good music around at that time, but this song seemed to trump everything.
What a fun an amazing reaction. You just nail all of the stuff. It's wonderful. This is considered one of the three greatest songs in Rock music. And I love how it's still a Rorschach inkblot test because you can read lots of different kinds of meaning into it. But either way it's a magnum opus kind of thing. I could talk musically about it all day long, but I like your observations. They are truly across the map and what they do. But if you want to continue further on this line, I would also say there other early song like this would be a whole lot of love.
@@MrsPenPal oh my, that is an early one, sorry I missed it. Thank you for the link. In that case, if you haven't done Babe I'm going to leave you, from their first album, I bet you would like it. It alternates back and forth between mostly acoustic and then heavy-hitting stuff. But his voice is just incredible.
Hello MrsPenPal, I want to say this was a great selection for you to react to...It is a very iconic classic by Led Zeppelin that has stood the test of time!!! Special greetings to you as you continue on your musical journey & recording career!!! Keep up the good work!!!
NICE!!!...Im proud that so many are rediscovering the great music of our amazing past....be ready and make sure your able to hear the piper when he calls....oh and beautiful reaction by the way.
They are using a Recorder 🙂 The song was recorded and released more than 50 years ago. The band was one of the biggest rock groups in the world during the 70s along side the likes of the Rolling Stones. They toured around the world, not just the US. The did all that with skill and talent. That's why you were stunned hearing it for the first time.
@@MrsPenPal wishing you many, many more! You should react to the studio version of Babe, Im gonna leave you or Kashmir? Both are absolutely incredible songs. One a basic blues classic cover, the other a deep multi layered masterpiece.
"Stairway to Heaven" features what can easily be considered one of the top five guitar solos ever recorded. As for the meaning of the lyrics, bear with me a bit here as I'm going to ramble a bit. They could just be another Led Zeppelin interpolation of the J. R. R. Tolkien trilogy "The Lord of the Rings." The lady may represent the character of Galadriel (played by Cate Blanchett in the movies). The pastoral lines about songbirds, looking to the west and crying for leaving, the smoke through the trees and the forests echoing with laughter, the May Queen with a choice of paths to take, all speak to that to a degree. Another heady take on the song concerns the lines about the piper who will lead us to reason and is calling you to join him. The notion of the piper evokes the fable of the Pied Piper. And perhaps that is meant to reflect an aspect of the conflict between generations during the cultural upheaval of the 1960's that extended into the early 1970's when this song was released. But rather than serving as a commentary about the anxieties of the older generation worried that rock and roll would lure the youth away from their moral guidance, the notion of the piper summons the pan-pipes of ancient Greece and with them the nexus between music, poetry, and the love of wisdom i.e. philosophy. And that takes us to perhaps the greatest lyric in the song, "When all are one and one is all, To be a rock and not to roll" -- a line that reaches back 2,500 years to a fragment from the pre-Socratic philosopher Heraclitus: "It is wise to hearken, not to me, but to my Reason, and to confess that all things are one." (c. 500 BC) A variation of that expression survives to this day in the rallying cry, "All for one and one for all," meant as an expression of unity which provides a sense of grounding and identity -- standing strong together like a rock, steadfast and unmoving. But perhaps the line is better understood less as an anthem of solidarity and more in line with the existential understanding which people often glean when under the influence of psychedelic drugs -- that feeling of oneness with the universe and the sense of belonging that feeling confers. Bad trips not withstanding! PS. Major props for keying on the emotional journey taken by the guitar solo! My eyes tear up during that part sometimes too!
Jimmy had composed Stairway for a few months...when it was time to record the band played through a few times with still no lyrics...Robert sat and scribbled on a pad for 45 min...they then recorded and wrapped it in 2 hours only...Jimmy said he played the solo 3 times and the just picked the best take...this masterpiece will live on long after we are all gone.
Great reaction! I used to play, sing, write and record music and I feel music the same as you. I feel so much emotion when listening to certain songs, it can be overwhelming and wonderful. I’ve been listening to Zeppelin for 30 years, a great musical journey! Thanks for your honest emotional reaction beautiful lady!
To see the expression on a young person's face when they realize that the music that their GRANDPARENTS were listening to at THEIR age is SO MUCH BETTER than anything they have now... I don't know how many times I've heard this song in the last fifty years... but it's STILL great...
Bless your heart. You get it and feel it. Love your reaction! Saw them 11 times not counting Page/Plant, Plant and Page solo tours. Talked to Jimmy and Robert at the Plaza Hotel in NYC before one of their Madison Square Garden concerts in June 1977. Magical, spiritual and best ever!
Watch them Live. They take it to a whole new level. From Madison. Square garden. Song Remains the Same concert. Blow your mind. They improvise and are amazing musicians.
Awesome, Awesome reaction! You broke it down and analyzed it so beautifully! What a great reaction to one of the greatest (if not the greatest) songs ever written. I seen others commenting on here to do a reaction to "The Rain Song" off of the album "Houses of the Holy". Their entire catalogue is amazing, but that could make for a great 3rd reaction to one of the greatest bands in music history (in my opinion, it's a very short list with Zeppelin and the Beatles topping them all). Peace
The pipes & some other instruments were from an an early version of a synthesizer called a Mellotron. Each key had a prerecorded instrument. They were used by many groups like the Beatles & Led Zeppelin.
Great reaction, great insight into the lyrics. And an honest response from you emotionally insofar as how the music, moved, swayed and hit you on the deep, soul level. Great.

The flute sound is a Mellotron - a keyboard that triggered loops of real, pre-recorded flutes on actual 1/4” tape inside the keyboard. The tapes spun for like 30 seconds and then rewound to the beginning to play the loop over again. Crazy but true.

It’s only one singer, a guitar, drums, bass and a keyboard. We were all obsessed with this song in the 1970s
he arrangement for "Stairway" is brilliant in that there are only 7 instruments, yet it sounds much bigger. The beginning of the song is mostly acoustic guitar and mellotron flutes, and a Fender Rhodes electric piano holds down the bass from the 1st B section onwards to the C section."
we still are obsessed
Yes, it is grand.
Stairway to heaven is the most requested song ever on FM Radio
And the most banned riff in any guitar store.
Every song you hear by them will take you on a musical journey
they say the guitar can make a person emotional.. well at 8:30 you did exactly that.. a perfect reaction!
The lead guitarist said he was always told to keep the beat & tone of the song the same. He broke all the rules. It worked!

The goats Zepplin and like 50 more masterpieces to go!
“The meaning of "Stairway to Heaven"
"When I run or hike my mind often plays songs repetitively.
"Dear lady" is a clue that the lady also represents the materialist part of ourselves, one of the "two paths you can go by."
"And as we wind on down the road, our shadows taller than our souls." I really love this image.
Brian Robinson”
This is the best interpretation of “Stairway to Heaven” lyrics I encountered so far.
Your being… it's one of those songs that actually connects with your being.”

More than a Rock band, Led Zeppelin is an experience.
Fabulous song. One of my favorites. I’m so glad you got to enjoy this Blessing!!
Hi Pa 🤗
No keyboard, guitars an recorder. Plus four geniuses.
Most iconic rock song ever written.
You must hear "Since I been Loving You" LIVE at MSG. Jaw dropping.
Zeppelin is the greatest band ever
I loved how you came alive when Jimmy switched from 12 string to 6 string and amped it up. You have a true feel for the music, and a pure soul. I was in high school when this album came out and bought it as soon as it hit the shelf. I've enjoyed this song a million times, but watching you hear it for the first time makes my heart sing! Thank you!
I've seen many Stairway to Heaven reactions, but yours is the best. New subscriber.
The greatest Band ever
...whoa...that song is EPIC !!!
Sure is!
Loved your reaction, it was pure, and not too many people react genuinely by listening to the song actively and letting it penetrate their soul, you did and I loved how genuine you were keep up the good work.
Haunting & Beautiful At The Same Time,,
Led Zeppelin "No Quarter"
"The Rain Song" is their best most beautiful ballad, highly lyrical and melodic, highly recommended.
@randyjud right on Randy, The Rain song is so fucking epic ,simply tremendous!!
wrong
@@bishlap then what is? Kashmir? It's overplayed
@@edwardcapobianco2975 Most Zep "hits" are overplayed, anyway, Rain song is stairway lite and really a girly tune.
"Thank You" and "Rain Song" are a couple of mellower songs by Led Zeppelin but both beautiful.
The difficulty for a western audience is that this is one of (if not the) most played rock songs of all time and so it is difficult to have a new perspective on it. But it encapsulates everything that the composers wanted from it. Robert Plant recalls writing the lyrics and practically 'leaping out of the chair' when he saw what he'd put down - whilst Jimmy Page's solo remains one of his crowning achievements on the guitar.
this isn't a song.............this is a miracle!
A great intro editorial into a Zeppelin magazine special says, "Like a Japanese puzzle, each layer of their music unveils an even more complcated portion". or words to that effect.
This is the DEEPEST song you will ever hear.

THIS is real music.
awww this music 🎶 is so deep..Nice one mrspenpal

I love your reaction to this song. It reminds me of how I felt when it first came out in 1971. There was a lot of very, very good music around at that time, but this song seemed to trump everything.
Chasing Dawn lifetimes on her way to musical fame & fortune. It's about love for music.
Wow you are so cute hearing a true classic.❤️
What a fun an amazing reaction. You just nail all of the stuff. It's wonderful. This is considered one of the three greatest songs in Rock music. And I love how it's still a Rorschach inkblot test because you can read lots of different kinds of meaning into it. But either way it's a magnum opus kind of thing.
I could talk musically about it all day long, but I like your observations. They are truly across the map and what they do. But if you want to continue further on this line, I would also say there other early song like this would be a whole lot of love.

Wood flute or recorder, acoustic guitar, Fender Rhodes electric piano, electric 12-string guitar, and of course drums and 6-string electric.
This song is widely considered the best rock song ever written; performed by arguably the best rock band in history.

My eyes tear up during that part sometimes too!
wonderfully stated....!!
You gotta do Led Zeppelin

Jimmy had composed Stairway for a few months...when it was time to record the band played through a few times with still no lyrics...Robert sat and scribbled on a pad for 45 min...they then recorded and wrapped it in 2 hours only...Jimmy said he played the solo 3 times and the just picked the best take...this masterpiece will live on long after we are all gone.
Great reaction! I used to play, sing, write and record music and I feel music the same as you. I feel so much emotion when listening to certain songs, it can be overwhelming and wonderful.
