      As Darrell Mansfield said in an introduction to 1 of his songs, " rock n roll was here before Elvis and before Jerry Lee Lewis. It started 2000 years ago. When they laid Jesus in his tomb, He rose 3 days later and said to the rock that was blocking His tomb, rock i want you to roll out of my way. The rock has been rolling ever since." Of course he wad just leading up to his song but the rock rolled out of the way and rock n roll was born.

      It was just the dominant fashion at the time. Clothes mean nothing, really. And, also, this type of music, or "rock and roll" was considered the devil's music that would lead children astray and into deliquency. Remove your rose-colored glasses, pastor, and just enjoy this music of the most popular genre in the world today.

    One of rock and roll's definitive masterpieces. Absolute, utter perfection. Sadly, group co-founder David White (he's second from the front in the opening sequences) is battling a serious illness as of March 2019. Keep him in your prayers, folks.

      He's my Grandfather. He passed away peacefully. His talent was on par with his love and guidance as my Granpop :) As far as my musical mentoring I received from him, one bit of advice he drilled into me (I'm paraphrasing): When you find that you have started to write a song your passionate about, let your ear guide you but KEEP IT SIMPLE!

    • @Rome.TheVoid.22
      @Rome.TheVoid.22 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@Conradaxx you were lucky to have such an amazing talent not only as a grandfather, but as a musical mentor!!! That is something that you can carry with you forever, of course you’d have memories either way, but he truly wrote some amazing songs!! He really really did! I’m not at all from the music of that era, but I have to say, I wish I had been. I’m glad I’m able to enjoy it now… what a different time it was… and it certainly seemed like a great one.
      I’m sure he taught you exceptionally well. And I’m very sorry for your loss. He will never be forgotten. His music will always play…. And people will always remember with a smile. 🙏🎵

      +Edmund Vitale lol, keep sniffing glue - The music of that era was heavily influenced by money & pay to play. Payola hearings of that time testifing before congress, Clark would testify to holding an ownership stake in a total of 33 different record labels, distributors and manufacturers that all profited handsomely from the rise of Clark-anointed stars like Danny and the Juniors and Frankie Avalon.

      @@THECARS7879 I was born in 1985 and couldn't agree more. Everything was so much better during that time. The cars, music, women, the economy, mannerism and just life in general. Men were gentlemen and women were ladies. Most individuals had so much class during this time. It was a much more simplistic and overall better time to be alive. I would give anything to be able to live in those times. Today's times are quite depressing and it's only going to get worse, unfortunately.

    Rock & Roll will be remembered as a late 20th Century phenomenon. By the early 2000s, the creative innovation of the art form had disappeared. It's now something played in dentists' offices.

    It was an age of innocence the 1950s and the early 1960s until the advent of the British Invasion in 1964.The Beatles and the Rolling Stones with their wild and rebellious music.

    Thanks to those like the immortal Dick Clark, Rock and Roll is indeed here to stay.....when it appeared so often that Rock and Roll was on the outs during that era, shows like American Bandstand and even The Ed Sullivan Show kept it alive and in the national conscience....and thanks also to DJs like Alan Freed, Murray the K, and Cousin Brucie for their significant contributions as well.....long live Rock and Roll
