Dion DiMucci is 83 as I'm writing this, I believe he's still performing & sounding great. My (professional musician who have some connection) friends showed me some footage of him from the last couple of years, with recent songs, & his singing is still excellent, for someone of any age. The man is a Cat!
11 11 i totally agree. i would have loved to experience the 50s-60s firsthand. people say they were terrible times but, really, aren't we in terrible times now, and every other time? it doesn't take away from the culture and important societal changes that made it so special!!
Damn good question, I do feel a nostalgic feeling, happens to me a lot, as if I am remembering abother life... Probably part of it has to do with hearing them as a kid, but I will listen to an old song I never heard before and like it, and feel the same way towards it
@@elsaportillo6479 I'm 59 got three months hit that big 60. Grew up with the music since my dad raised me to the music..said that this type of music is better than the devil music.
One more time: This was a scene from a movie! They showed 3 different angles of Dion. In that era, cameras were either ceiling mounted booms or floor mounted 500lb cameras on wheels. How could they hide them from angle to angle? The "audience" was overlaid after the scene from a (ready?) MOVIE SCENE was shot. Peace
I'd have to rate Dion as one of the top 10 voices of the last 100 years. Unbelievably overlooked by the music industry. As good as the best ever, Mr Presley, during his harmonies and with a top range growl that brought a whole intro to rock 10 years early. What a treat for us all.
Music like this is refreshing. It wasn't directly about sex or about partying or glamourizing promiscuity, it was directly about having your heartbroken. Theres just something about it that kinda gets to me. I recently had my heartbroken and although the lyrics don't seem relevant, I can relate to that feeling of a broken heart. It's a great song.
@Jay Dee That’s just your taste, it doesn’t mean music today is pure shyte. Maybe stop being entitled and so close-minded because you’re one of the reasons why people can’t even appreciate music anymore.
@Jay Dee Ha! People like you make me laugh. Funny how you don’t understand what an opinion is, and that neither is right or wrong. And again, music has not turned to pure shyte as there are many great songs and videos explaining songs with great qualities in them. You don’t have to like them, but that doesn’t mean it’s all bad. But alas, if I would agree with you, I would be stupid. And even calling you stupid is an insult to stupid people. ;)
@Jay Dee Don't worry bro, these people condemn themselves by their own words. See how in order to finally win, he has to belittle you, yet, hypocritically, plays the "cool and non-judgemental" dude when it comes to the music. He's rather judge you, a fellow human. You are right, he has much to learn about life. Beginning with the meaning of quality. But, as he is the one who has to learn, be gentle with people like him, they lack, being less mature and more thoroughly tainted by the world's filth, which is why they can't differentiate things in the way you are speaking about. They need to learn, so you must explain to them what they are blind about, that they might begin to see. And in the process of helping another, you yourself grow. ;)
Perhaps one of the greatest pop songs of all-time, in my opinion. I remember where I was and what I was doing when I first heard it on the radio when it had just been released. Listening to it takes me back to that happy moment.
I must be an old soul because all my life I have preferred music from my grandmother’s young days and I never lost interest in it. The composition of this song is brilliant and not an easy one to cover for those who have tried.
I'm 16 and my most listened songs are songs from the 60s to the 90s. Man, I was born in 2005 and I'm sad that I wasn't born 40 years earlier when it comes to the music back then :(

A picture of a cold winter night, a drum with a fire burning, a cardboard box, a wooden crate, Belmont Avenue street corner in The Bronx, and three talented young men wrapped up in long jackets, outside the local store, do-wopping this song. The place where real talent is born…….Thank you Dion and the Belmonts. …………..Young people take note!

I was 8 years old when Runaround Sue came out. WKIX in Raleigh was the only rock and roll station we could pick up in 1961 and of course it was all AM back then. I love it as much today as I did all those years ago ( I'm 70 now) Greatest music ever!!
This is one of the most adorable songs ever written and performed. Simple, basic, and beautiful. No dirty, garbage lyrics cluttering up a simple meaning. I LOVE YOU. One of the prettiest love songs you'll ever hear. Peter Noone stripes it. As a side note, if he didn't have "The Baby Face of the Century?!!" Wholesome, clean and as far away from toilet groups like the Rolling Stones as you can get. Amen to that.
Ahh the 60s. When I heard the song, I closed my eyes and thought back in time. I wasn't lucky enough to spend my youth in this decade, let alone experience anything of it (born 99), but I imagine it to be just like in the movies. Of course it's only the films from which I get my idea. But what would I give to just spend one day and one evening in this era. Everything seemed so simple and straightforward back then. I would be in college with my friends, help out in my uncle's workshop in the afternoon and in the evening drive my Ford Mustang to the annual barn festival and drink the best beer there with my mates and just dance until the morning to this song and others .
The whole room is a stage set. Those people were either paid to sit there or were enticed by being on TV. That pretty blonde was not placed in the front row by accident. Everyone told to sit still so as not to distract from the performers, but some couldn't avoid at least tapping fingers. Or maybe the whole scene was just a set piece excerpted from a movie .... It's also probable that Dion and the whole band were lip-syncing, to be re-mixed with the official audio track in the studio. All that kind of reduces the spontaneous fun that the on-camera audience could have been having.
I love this guy, i played Fallout 4 the video game and his song the Wanderer is in the game, now im listening to all his songs and he just so so so good! Old school swagger

She likes to travel around, yeah
She'll love you and she'll put you down
Now people let me put you wise

I fell in love and my love still grows
Ask any fool that she ever knew, they'll say

Still listening to Dion in 2023 makes you want to get up and dance this song lifts you up.
I remember seeing Dion in Seattle Washington when I was stationed out there and he gave quite a concert incredible guy.
August 2024 winter down under
This was my grandma's favorite song. She passed away a few years ago and this song has a core memory attached to it.
sorry
Wonderful. I listened to this music when I was 16. It was 25 years old then.
I'm 54 now. 💘💕💗💜😥😥😥🙏❣
Dion DiMucci is 83 as I'm writing this, I believe he's still performing & sounding great. My (professional musician who have some connection) friends showed me some footage of him from the last couple of years, with recent songs, & his singing is still excellent, for someone of any age. The man is a Cat!
Cats live to be 83?
Dion is awesome!!! Have you seen his videos where he’s playing with Peter Frampton?
This was a decade before l was born but its all about when music was about good written lyrics and a amazing voice and proper musicians,
@@Starrygirl63 I haven't but I'll check it out, thanks!
@@silva0186 Apparently some do!
Such a great song. Man, this era of music has such amazing melodies ❤❤❤

I luv the 50's songs so much its all i listen too for some reason i feel i was born in the 50's but was born in the 80's🤷

why is it that we all have the same nostalgic feeling for these times, even though most of us never even experienced it ? it's so magical
Probably part of it has to do with hearing them as a kid, but I will listen to an old song I never heard before and like it, and feel the same way towards it
Michael Samson tell em!
11 11 the good certainly does not “out-weigh” the bad
Being white helps a ton
I'm 58 an grew up with this music through my older siblings. Best thing they introduced me to.
@@elsaportillo6479 I'm 59 got three months hit that big 60. Grew up with the music since my dad raised me to the music..said that this type of music is better than the devil music.
Over fifty years later and we're feeling this more than the original audience
That's exactly what I was thinking. How can you be so stiff when hearing this song?!? Great song!
I think the video is older than 50 years, maybe nearly 60.
Omg, imagine what they'd think about all this hook-up and baby daddy culture going on now!!!! 😬
You'd think Sue burned everybody in that audience at some point.
I know right?
It was actually they're monthly meeting for the auntie Sue delegation.
Ñ
Baaahaha! I'm glad it's just my middle name lol
That's why they're all quiet man lmao
Thing I don't get at all - how in the HELL do these people just sit there smiling and smoking? No clapping? No dancing? Couldn't keep me in my seat!

Weirdos
One more time: This was a scene from a movie! They showed 3 different angles of Dion. In that era, cameras were either ceiling mounted booms or floor mounted 500lb cameras on wheels.
How could they hide them from angle to angle?
The "audience" was overlaid after the scene from a (ready?) MOVIE SCENE was shot.
Peace
Production told them to do that
Runaround Sue is one of the greatest vocal performances of all time.
No kidding!
My mother used to play this song when my siblings and I were small Kids. Love U mom ❤, hope we can meet again someday.
I get so homesick and get to missing my dad, I'll accidentally discover songs like this and it makes me feel at home with my dad. I love you dad.
☺️👌🏻
Touching comment
I love you too baby
I'd have to rate Dion as one of the top 10 voices of the last 100 years. Unbelievably overlooked by the music industry. As good as the best ever, Mr Presley, during his harmonies and with a top range growl that brought a whole intro to rock 10 years early. What a treat for us all.
Probably because he did not pay people off, you know, his pals in the industry!
@@dc10fomin65 True my friend, but we get to enjoy his magic anyway. A special club of real music lovers if you like.
Quality.... one way to cheer up after a bad day. Dion's the man 👍

It's a great song.
i thought it was about ♀nature
2021 and I'm still listening to this because nothing in 2021 can compare to this.
It’s just your taste it doesn’t mean modern music or any music can compare to another hit, and it doesn’t mean it’s bad.
And even calling you stupid is an insult to stupid people. ;)
@Jay Dee you're saying the massively talented band Balthazar are no good?
Tell us the story. 😊
I only recently discovered it and had a similar reaction to yours! Amazing tune and that voice!! Incredible. I was blown away.
I’m a 39 year old teenager. I love 50’s and 60’s rock. Grew up on it.
Adolescente de 39 años? Estaras estudiando supongo
I must be an old soul because all my life I have preferred music from my grandmother’s young days and I never lost interest in it. The composition of this song is brilliant and not an easy one to cover for those who have tried.
I’m 18 and can’t stand todays pop, rap, and country music. I think I’m a boomer when it comes to most things.
I was few days when Elvis died, but I'm probably one of his greatest fans💗 the Oldies from the 50s to 70s are still the best!
I'm 16 and my most listened songs are songs from the 60s to the 90s. Man, I was born in 2005 and I'm sad that I wasn't born 40 years earlier when it comes to the music back then :(

Good music is good music
I'm 44 and my mum and the wanderers movie got me Into Dion. I love this track and can never get bored of it ! Wish I was in the 60s just for the music ! Can't get songs like this nowadays. 😢
I love this one so much, I literally can't get enough of it! It brings me so much joy that the moment he starts really to sing I am instantly twisting, jumping, goofing and dancing around 🤭🤸🏽♀️
So sad that today they don't do music like this anymore, such a pity.

I loved watching my parents dancing to this in clubs and disco's.

Thank you! Love you too, Brazil!
This sound paints me a picture.
How do i not see people's head moving with the rhythm this is a BANGER
They're actors! Although the couple at the upper left seemed to be tapping table.
Right??
Bc it was not in their culture at that time/for that part of society
It wasn't In the mafia to applaud someone they thought below them, it showed weakness! what a shittty rule

One of the best songs ever created.. there are a few and this is up there on top ... genius .. What really makes the song is the brilliant is the backing harmony singing over dions voice .. comes together to make something very special

One of the most amazing songs EVER ! Hall of fame !!

Have the original 1961 album one of the greatest!
Have you had it since it was knew or did you get it more recently?
As a young man at 14 I love this song and it’s a blessing that people had angelic voices like this

The crowd didn’t know what was coming. The greatest music ever!!

Drops a bop????? Hahahahaha
What's wrong with singing about your feelings? I don't see a problem, if the song is good then what's the problem?

This one's an absolute banger and the rooms just full of mannequins. Amazing.
They have to show ... nothing actually. They aren't really there.
Yea lol it’s a room fille of pretentious ppl
LOL one lively audience he had there. They were poppin!
They’re being respectful. Older generations be like that
The whole room is a stage set.
61 years later and the song Is still popular at car shows ! I'm sure Dions music was rockin the dance floors back in the 60's ..
Yep, we were twisting the night away!
I love this guy, i played Fallout 4 the video game and his song the Wanderer is in the game, now im listening to all his songs and he just so so so good! Old school swagger

Dion you have talent and a gift, you have the gift to sound amazing without auto tune unlike today's artists in 2022
I ran to the record store when this was released, and I've been listening to it ever since.. ...A true classic if there ever was one, and Dion is STILL a Class Act after all of those years.
You know this is a great song when everybody in the room is enjoying the song and the showmanship of the singer and other members :)
