It was a summer song that you can go out with your girlfriend to the burger joint and just have it blasting your car. My grandfather passed away. I always think of him from time to time so whenever I’m in the car, I will put on Danny and the juniors at the hop to remember the good times I had with him. Miss you, grandpa

My Dad was the guy in our family that everyone wanted to dance with. He was a good dancer and fun to be around. This was his Era. He grew up with this music on the radio, going to hops, dances every weekend. He absolutely LOVED dancing to this particular song. God, I miss him. Lost him just over a year ago now. When this came across my feed, I just smiled thinking, "Yeah, Dad, you're still around us. Now you're just dancing with your mom" ❤ the 50's had some of the best songs. Just plain fun.

In 1979, Hauppauge High School, L.I. N.Y. put on a "Vaudeville Show", which included "Danny & the Juniors"! Even though it was twenty years after their initial success, they still 'brought the house down' with "At the Hop!" The audience of 30-40 something parents, couldn't stay in their seats & started dancing & jumping, to the amazement of their teenage children! This was the best $3.00 per person admission, of my life!
I wasn't even born when this came out. I was a teenager in the 80s and remember thinking back then that songs like this were positively ancient. I bet teen today think the same of my generations 80s tunes. Nowadays, when I hear this 50's classic I just think how amazing it is. I love the shot in this video @1:27 of the teenagers in the audience losing their sh*t to this song. They all look so happy! I was lucky enough to have my dad born in 1937 I grew up in the '80s and my dad had still the old records in the 45s he bought when he was a kid so I knew all about this stuff the simplicity of it all is the beauty and it was a good resurgence of that in the 1980s as well which of course made me happy and my dad as well
