Barbara Hutton was staying at The Waldorf-Astoria back in the day. She took a liking and a shine to an operator's telephone voice and asked her what she'd like as a gift. The operator replied in a very glib voice: "Oh, a sable coat". The next day, a sable coat arrived and was delivered to the telephone room.

They also sued her for non-payment of her bill! She died with only $3,500 in the bank. Her estimated worth at one time of $42 million would be $750 million in today’s money. Sadly, she never found true love or happiness and her over-spending, including being quite generous; led to her being nearly bankrupt.

Ashame the men she was involved with did her wrong. If only she married/loved the right one(s) she would have had a better life. Sad what she turned to instead...drinking and drugs.
