As I understand it, Queen Elizabeth II made secure financial arrangements for Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent soon after her Coronation as up until that point Marina was left with very little money following the death of her husband Prince George, Duke of Kent. Why it was that King George VI did not support the Duchess of Kent when his brother the Duke died is a mystery to me as he must have known that Marina, with two young children and a new born baby to cope with whilst in the depths of loss and mourning most certainly would have been deserving of support.
The Queen Mother probably put a stop to him giving her much support. She and Marina didn't exactly get along. Marina used to refer to Queen Elizabeth (Queen Mother) and the Duchess of Gloucester as 'those common Scottish girls" because they were of the nobility and Marina was born royal. I'm sure Queen Elizabeth (Queen Mother) probably got some satisfaction in seeing Marina knocked off her high horse.
I had to give her a bouquet of flowers , about 1947, when she came to Manchester to formally re-open Heaton Hall in Heaton Park , which had been given to the people of Manchester by Lord Egerton, when he went to live in Kenya. My father was chairman of the local residents association, but I was too shy to talk to her. I remember she was very beautiful , but wore a lot of make-up .
Prince and Princess Michael are living in a grace and favor apartment at Kensington palace, and yes they are the poorer relations selling off some jewels to pay bills❤
The future Queen Elizabeth II was a flower girl at her uncle and aunt's wedding. She was 8 years old. You can see her in the photos at the beginning of the video. Prince George was her father's brother.
Most of jewelry inherited by Prince Michael and his wife have been discretely sold over the years to pay bills. Many of the pieces were replaced by well-made replications.

Her daughter, Princess Alexandra looks so like her mother. And Prince George, Duke of Kent shows a strong family resemblance as a young man to a young Prince William.
I wonder when her will was written? Only, she appears to have left a great deal of her jewellery to Prince Michael, her younger son, despite never knowing his future wife, with whom one suspects she'd have got on a lot better with and probably thought more of, than her successor Katharine Duchess of Kent; whom she did know and live alongside for much of the 1960s. If she felt superior to her sisters-in-law as suggested below, then quite what she made of Katharine's pedegree must have been left unspoken - although, could it have been expressed anyway, through how she bequeathed her jewels? While Katharine certainly did scrub-up well in her younger years and seemed willing enough to do so, Marina would have known whether her daughter-in-law found this side of her role cumbersome; which if her later retirement from Royal Duties and her subsequent teaching career was anything to go by; we might reasonably assume was the case. Marie-Christine on the other hand - while largely looked down on by the British Royal Family - may well have met with Marina's greater approval, as these two women would possibly have had a lot more in common than either of them did or have, with Katharine! Certainly, what Marina would have thought of Katharine's later decisions - and then not even attempt to attend most major Royal Events including King Charles' Coronation - dumbed down as it may have been; we can only surmise!!!
I believe the tiara has Russian ties they mention it in a documentary about the Queen Elizabeth jewelry collection they mentioned the tiara in the Russian collection

Princess m is a beauty with wonderful hair I wonder if the viewer who unkindly called her look vulgar might be mistaking eighties style for vulgsrittbinfo not find her look vulgar at all unless one criticises all flamboyance which I do not
Yes, it's a pity so many jewels were left to Michael (and his eventual wife) IMO they were (are) too poor and then too eager for funds to take care of them appropriately
Hello Jaydee. I just love your videos. By the way, do you now anything about the Kokoshnik tiara worn by Queen Mary when her son George married Elizabeth ( Queen Elizabeth II) . thanks in advance for your kindness and videos. Libby
Amazing video and story well told. Unfortunately the Kents had to sell a lot of their valuables during the years to cover taxes..so sad.

+The then Queen Elizabeth (George VIs wife) allegedly didn't get on with Princess Marina
Winston Churchill made a concerted effort with the British government to support her after her husband’s death, but it was to no avail.
She was a snob and looked down upon the Queen mother as she was more royal than her
I think he did what he could, but the country was at war at the time and therefore, no ostentatious gestures could be made.

Such a beautiful video in honour of the late princess. An amazing and outstanding woman! 🇬🇷

Give me a break... Like you even know.
Youre close to them?😂 How did you know?
Fidcreetly
Her three children sold off quite a few heirlooms at a Sotheby’s or Christie’s sale about 10 years ago.
Inheritance tax. What a disgusting rip off. Tax is paid on initial purchase, paying again is a double tax and is horrendously unfair!!!
Beautiful jewels
Yes they are
I wonder what she let to her daughter Alexandra, and her son the Duke of Kent.
It seems she passed most of her jewelry to her youngest child Prince Michael.
Such a pity that Princess Alexandra didn’t receive all her mother’s jewellery.

Thank you kindly!

Also looks extremely similar to the current Duke of Gloucester 's brother, William.
I was watching another show about Duke of Kent and noticed how much Prince William favored him.
I am glad to know someone else noticed this too
It's cute how you opine on people you have never met and will never know
Lady Gabriella Kingston is the spitting image of Princess Marina and Princess Alexandra - strong Kent genes!
Jewellery should be kept together for the eldest to inherit.
Thank you. This was very interesting!!
Can't understand why jewellery pieces are under inheritance tax. Shouldn't it be just property and land and businesses
Yeah it is nonsense theft by the government
Telford Runner jewellery is part of a persons possessions
Please they have to keep the civilians happy
She was beautiful.
Gorgeous choice for an engagement ring.
Yes I would be beautiful too , if I had all that pampering.
True Royalty
Did the Kents have to sell the engagement ring? I've never seen it, only pictures

the Vladimir Tiara is not linked to the Kent jewels,

Все очень красиво ))) милые парные клипы )))
Exquisite pieces, but Princess Michael likes to overdo them and makes them vulgar, I think.

She's so beautiful if she lives in this era she could become a model.
THe tiara with pearls s very similar to the one that Metit-Merrit wears.
Who has that fab sapphire ring?
I wonder what jewels her daughter got
The marriage was a disaster!
Well done!♥️
Thanks a lot Ms Evelyn
the pictire movement is often clumsy
Sorry about that

How unhappy she looks on most of her photos
So sad to lose your husband so young. 😢
Prince Andrew looks like Prince George quite a lot.
Great😍🥰🥰👌.
Geez she looks like my cousin
He was bisexual
omg
So what
😂
Who?
Charles Lucas rumours are not evidence
to refer to George, Duke of Kent as having impeccable taste is a euphemism...if ever i heard one
Whenever i see a photo or a documentary about the Duke of Kent to me, he looks so much like Prince Andrew
🌈💝💐
