I'm so glad I watched this!! I tend to buy my floss drops as well as make them....my way of making them is similar to glueing down paper onto tags.....but I tend to be left with a mess & due to chronic illness I get tired doing them! I am so going to buy the tag maker & hole punch ^_^ so much quiker & less mess, especially as I will need 61 floss drops for one of my cross stitch charts I need to kit up!! Thank you sew much for this!!!!xx
I use “paper bobbins”- cut the bottom off and add hole punches. Can buy packs of 100 for only a few dollars- work just as well as the expensive ones and once finished can be either reused for same color or thrown out. I have considered “converting” the plastic bobbins but doubt my hole puncher will worn on them.
Thanks for the video. It's pretty much the methods I use, however I don't use a sticker on the back but use pencil instead and just rub it out and redo if I reuse the tags. I've also used printed or coloured card stock instead of gluing paper to card or paper.
This video came exactly at the right time. Just today I was thinking that I'd like to make some of this on my own!!! Thanks a lot for the great videos 😄🧵🪡
Thank you! I just punch my tags out of scrapbook paper. Punch the other holes & I’m done. I write directly on the back of the tag & then just toss them when I’m done. Thank you for a few different ideas.
Thank you so much for watching Peggy - glad I could give you some new ideas. I love making my floss drops special for a new project ☺️ Happy stitching 🌸 Marie
Hi, you definitively put threads on this cardboard ? or it's only for only embroidery project moment ? I have all my threads on little DMC cards and I wonder if I put my threads temporarly on drops or on DMC cards.
Thank you for watching. Personally I would use the floss drops when I am stitching a project. You can store them permanently on the made floss drops if you want to but it might be harder to store them when not needed.
Hi Karen, Marie here - thanks so much for watching 😊 I use the small hole for my 'active' thread - one that I've used already but it's not quite short enough to throw away so I'll use it again. I keep it separate from the main hole because it gets easily buried in the bulk of threads so it's quicker to grab it from the smaller hole 😊 I kit up all my projects on floss drops, I personally love it! Happy stitching 🌸 Marie
Now I know what I’m doing wrong. I need to punch the backing only if I glued the printed/decorative paper on first! Duh, why couldn’t I have figured this out first? Thank you for a mundane subject. It was sooo informative. Now I don’t have to buy the expensive plastic drops.

I have been watching floss drop videos, yours is great. Thank you.
Excellent ideas, thank you. I didn’t even think of using pre-made tags, but it’s genius.
Thanks for watching! We're glad you found this useful!

Love this. The plastic floss Drops are so expensive. I just ordered a punch and some pretty paper. I'm going to do #3 :)
The stickers are superfluous. You can write directly onto the brown paper of the cards.
Thanks for sharing your tip :)
This has inspired me to give this a try! Now I can have them in the colors or prints I like.
Great video. Thank you for sharing. I love organising my floss for projects - that is half the fun for me.
Hi Nicky, Marie here - thank you so much for watching! I am the same, so much fun to create all the things to with my projects 😊
Happy stitching 🌸
Loved the video but could not find the link for supplies

Some great ideas. I'm new to floss drops so I will definitely try some of these ideas. What size metal rings are you using in the video?
We're not sure exactly what size is used here but you can search thread rings online - the DMC version is 3 inches.
pretty tags, I love making floss drops but I use my silhouette Cameo machine makes it so easy and fast and you any color or pattern paper
Thanks for watching!
Thank you 🙏
Thank you for watching :)
Great ideas. Where do you get the cutter for the tags?
You will most likely be able to get these from your local craft shop
Very helpful video! Do you know where you got the sticker labels from?
Sticker labels are widely available from stationery shops, Amazon etc ..

@@CaterpillarCrossStitch Yes I think like you. It's difficult to storage them on drop card. I will see. Thank you very much for your answer 🌹
Great tutorial. Thanks
What is the small hole next to large hole used for. This looks so much easier than winding bobbins

What is the small hole for next to the larger hole?
It is for one piece of floss that may be leftover from your project so that you have a place to keep it :)
