I am joining everyone else in thanking you for wonderful demo! The Gallery 3 tech clearly seems a lot less sharp at black text content because there is no true black. Even newspapers are printed with CMYK which has a black color for the texts! As limited as Kaleido 3 is, each individual pixel can still show true black.
Thank you for taking the time to make two great videos on the Remarkable Paper Pro. So far, I find your videos to be the most informative on this new device. I agree with a lot of the points you made. When putting the devices next to each other to compare the text contrast, Remarkable PP's weakness clearly shows. However, when looking only its screen, our eyes adapt to it after a while. The color feature is really attractive on Remarkable PP. The picture at 9:30 is amazing. I may end up buying two devices, one for reading and one for writing. I may go with (Boox Tab X + a 2nd hand Remarkable 2) or (Book Go 10.3 + ReMarkable PP). If you plan to continue to make videos on this device, I wonder if you could test in an indoor environment with normal lighting, whether having the front light at max level can compensate the darkness of ReMarkable PP's screen, to make it at least comparable to Remarkable 2.
Thanks for your comment. I will now move into using the device productively - and not only for reviews, but I am planning some more videos as well. As it is raining today, I will do the indoor comparison with reM2 and Go10.3. By the way sooner or later my arsenal of e-ink devices will outgrow my time to spend with them, so the question is what to keep. And my current position is exactly your second option: For me the combination of the reM PP for the large screen and great color will be perfectly complemented by the Go10.3 for lighter luggage, pure text in bright sunlight, and some Android apps for reading.
Thank you for this outstanding demo, in particular for drawing/painting on the Remarkable Paper Pro ! AND the super tuning of the Boox Go 10.3 (the one I own) 😊

You love your eink devices huh 😂, understandable I have too many as well. Great to get a good gauge of how the RPP screen looks. Thank you again for the time and effort on another video when you could just be enjoying your device 😊
Thank you for the review! it would have been great to see the same handwritten notes (maybe only black ink notes) on the RM2 side by side in order to check the contrast and the difference between the two. It seems to me that the different screen coating makes the text less legible on the paper pro compared to the RM2.
I tried it! I think they should take it off the market before they lose face! The writing sensation was much better on RM2! It has serious problems: when you refresh the page or use color (even just to highlight) that flashing is very annoying! I preferred a larger MR2 with 1300 technology! With the same writing sensation! ps: obviously I tried more than one.. same problem!
Excellent review! Thank you!! One thing I don't see anyone in reviews doing is printing in colors other than black. Reviewers are doing long continuous back and forth lines. I may have missed you demonstrating writing in blue or or other. But, what happens to when you print in color? Does it flash each time you lift your pen?
Thanks! Gives me the right information to choose from all the options. I own the Boox go 10.3, and indeed this one of the best options actually. A bit surprised about that coming from a company like Boox that usually goes for mass production. The RM PP looks somehow interesting but I also get the feel that this technology will be old very quickly. There seems to be a lot of compromises made in order to make it work..
I fully understand your point. As a tech nerd I do love the latest, greatest, fastest ... but I think they understand, that for productivity this does not count. And I always come back to the reMarkable (until recently version 2), because "it just works" ... I know this is Apple language again :-) So I convince myself to remember, regardless of the CPU clockspeed, memory (2GB is ridiculously low in 2024), it has two purposes: note taking and e-reading. It can even handle > 100MB PDFs easily. So what?
Can I sync my notes/PDF on the RM Pro with my Google-Drive (or any other drives) like on Boox devices or do I have to manually export the files to save them like on the RM2?
You can access Google Drive, OneDrive, and Dropbox, but not fully synch. You browse the files and can download the files to your device, annotate etc. and then re-upload. So while this is possible, it is not replacing the simplicity of a full SYNC.
Thanks for the great Video. My paper pro also arrived yesterday and I could test it today. I use the remarkable 2 before and the update is amazing. I read something today in the bed and there I hear every time I touch the display to change the side or something a tone from the paper pro, does your devices also make this?
No I could not hear any noise like that. I had another issue so far, which I need to reproduce (device unresponsive after long period of inactivity - night - needing a reset). But my reM PP is absolutely silent.
Just something I have not metioned and did not find in the reM 2 the last time I wanted to "hack" the software ... You now need to enable "developer mode" explicitly to give you SSH access. And do this early on in your journey as it wipes the entire device.
@@Artellico assuming you set it up correctly, even if it wipes the device, everything should be in the cloud. My rM2 has actually worn out a bit, cause the writing feel is smoother and less tactile than the brand new rM2s my friends bought
Hello! Thank you for the review. I need a device to read RFP documents in PDF form (page range is 30 - 125 pages). I am using kindle scribe at present but i am not very happy with it. Also color is not that important for me. Having access to Microsoft Teams application would be an added benefit. Can you please suggest the device I go for?
I think it depends on what type of user experience you want. Is this the use case for e-ink? IF yes, then Tab X is an option, I agree, but maybe also Tab Ultra C Pro - productivity, colors, speed, ... Or the Go 10.3, which I prefer if you don't need the massive size of the Tab X. Regarding MS Teams, is it about video calls? Then, of course, you need a front-facing cam ... So a couple of options :-)
I purchased the Kindle Scribe immediately when it came out (in Europe), but I have sent it back after extensive evaluation. I know that the software has evolved quite a bit since. The Kindle is - for my use case - too much limited as I am not so deep in the Kindle ecosystem. Sure I buy some books, but more often tech gadgets. My books are sourced from other stores that give you unencrypted PDFs or ePubs. This is why it is not the ideal device for me. As far as I remember, the reading experience on the Kindle Scribe was very good as well, but I cannot do a side-by-side anymore.
Would you mind sharing some of the sources where you find your books? I'm looking to get away from the Kindle books and more into open PDF and ePub books myself.
Please tell me which one is better when studying notes, I care that the text is more grand them vertically so as not to strain the eyes so much, and that you can also take notes well. But above all that it is good to study my PDFs because I do not want to have to print them and carry everywhere a lot of sheets to study.
If reading text is your main concern, my first choice is Go 10.3, followed by reMarkable 2, with all advantages of simplicity, but the limitations of the ecosystem. But - this is also true for me - if large PDFs are your thing (A4 / US letter), then bigger is better ... Then the Paper Pro is the winner.
How does the remarkable paper pro's size compare to an A4 paper? I want to buy it to read journal articles and I own the Sony DPT RP1. I wonder if the remarkable's screen is too small.

So... It's still be a bit smaller than A4 but better than other devices and colors are way more vivids than with kaleido 3. I've a tab ultra C (boox), in 10.3 but i really think about RPP. I read a lot of work papers and comics (french and us on it) and i'm a bit frustrated with size and color. I don't know if i buy it or if i wait for a boox system... It's hard.
Which application did you use for showing the PDF on the Go10.3? I think it was not NeoReader, some other? Would the image quality be the same in the NeoReader, since it's a native app...?
I used a few, mainly Neoreader and the included library organization feature. However, this was never properly synching between dives, so I changed to Bookfusion (a cross-platform e-book tool). You can optimize the settings for e-ink, the only advantage Neoreader had for me: sever settings to truncate the margins to make large PDFs better readable ... BTW, this is still painful while possible on the reMarkable tablets. Regarding the image quality, I did not see any difference, this is controlled in the e-ink center.
