I have the 2011 1700 voyager with the Vance and Hines, I also added the cobra fuel manager, anyway I really think you have shown the Vance and Hines have a deeper sound than the Tri-oval, great video.
Love the bikes. I have a 05 Vulcan 1500fi with the Cobra 2000 fuel tuner and a KN air filter with a set of Cobra slash cuts. I put the bike on the dyno and I got a return of 89 hp. I can honestly say it really WOKE the bike up..... You wont be disappointed with the extra mods. Ride safe from the Great White North. (hurry up spring)
+NorthernVulcan Thanks for your comment! I have toyed with the idea of a new air filter and power commander but wasn't sure it would be worth the $$. Sounds like your saying it would. I would love extra performance out of it. Great white north?? We just got a foot of snow here in the mountains of WNC! I'm with you brother..c'mon spring!
Agree with the consensus opinion: Vance and Hines sound better but the Cobra Tri Oval exhaust look better. My choice would be the Vance and Hines because the reason you purchase aftermarket exhaust is to enjoy a deeper and richer sounding bike while riding.
Honestly i am 100% agree with this comment !~! V&H have a much deeper Low Freq sound . Cobras are way too pretty but they sound more like Phut phut phut ;) GR8 Video though
Great looking bikes! There is no point in comparing the two exhausts... a wide pipe always sounds deeper. They both sound sexy. A low note pipe is not desirable for long distance runs, but these being so long and way behind the rider don't stress the ear that much. I do not know if these bikes have an idle adjustment or not. Most foreign cruisers require above 1,000 RPM idle, warm engine. It's just the way they are built and it has to do with oil pump and oil pressure for the top end. The RPM can be 'adjusted' using a voltmeter: the alternator should produce about 14V just a little over 1,000RPMs. You need 13.8V on the battery to keep it full with the engine running. These two bikes don't run super low idle like some people do trying to imitate a Harley idle, I don't think there is any damage being done... I just mentioned if anyone finds this helpful. Be safe, thanks for the upload. Have fun!
Great video! Your sense of humor kept me watching :) I agree with the sound VS looks comments here. I also wonder if that higher frequency ticking will go away after breakin? Maybe you could do another video? A link to Two Guys Cycle would be a real plus! Cheers
For the popping, the best solution is to install a fuel programmer. Now I've got the Dynojet Power Commander 5, the version I've got allows for ignition timing advance. With the right tuning aka map, I've got no popping except for one nice sounding one on down shift from fourth to third. To be honest get a big air kit and this bike wakes up!! Some purchase and install a throttle body gasket to eliminate any possibility of an air leak on the intake. Oh yes the pipes sound better broken in :) Deeper for sure.
I am impressed with both exhaust. V&H do sound better but the Cobra looks way better. I have been toying with the idea of the cobras, you just convinced me to go ahead with Cobra Tri Oval. You said you found the cheap in GA could you tell me where you found them?
liked both, vance and hines sounded deeper. used to have cobras on my VTX and they were awesome. side note... a little upset about dumping half a beer.
Ive got a Suzuki C90 have V&H slas cuts and Cobra drags. V&H have a deep pretty loud tone, the Cobras are more choppy and a slighty higher tone but I love those unbaffled V&H slash cuts people definitly hear ya v before they will see ya
I’ve always preferred the V&H sound over the Cobra…the tri-ovals do look better…just seems to go better with the lines of the bike..rounds seem out of place…the V&H ovals would look a little better than the rounds…but definitely the V&H have a deeper, throatier sound imho
On the iPad .. Vance n Hines has a deeper tone ... The cobra is a bit raspy, but that could be because of the frequency of the camera mic . If your happy ... That's all that matters.
I just ordered the Triovals for my 2014 nomad 1700. Did you ever get a power commander and or the K&N air filter? I ha e those items coming as well and was curious if you had feedback on them. Thanks again for your post. I will use your video to help with my install.
Thanks Darren, for your question! I didn't get either of those, but I'm beginning to wonder if I should. When I Rev the engine, occasionally there is about a one second delay. Almost as if the engine isn't going to respond or actually stall. So, I think it's an air filter issue. I may need to bite the bullet and get the new air filter kit. I'm willing to bet you will not have that issue. As far as the power command, a lot of the literature I read suggested one doesn't need to have that. So, if you would be so kind as to let me know how your bike is doing with both of those, I'd appreciate it. Because I may need to bite that bullet too. I hope the video helps your install. Just please remember, stay away from the Sam Adams!
I.m partial to the Vance and Hines, but that's what I had on my Harley Roadking. Set off MANY alarms with those pipes!!! In fact, that's the bike in my profile pic.
I had the tri oval installed on my 2013 voyager and the cobra auto tuner power commander but i'm getting popping like sound from it, do you know of any solutions...please
I've read solutions by following the vulcan forums, but I don't recall them because I really like the popping sounds. Apparently, it happens from oxygen and the fuel combining in the prefect mix for combustion, hence the popping sound (if I recall correctly ).I would surmise having a different air filter and a power commander would fix this. But this is just intuition, not a guaranteed solution. The forums do have the solution. I'm sorry I couldn't give you a definitive answer. Thanks for your question though!
norman james Hi Norman. I'm afraid we are not qualified to provide you with a solution. We are absolutely novices who are lucky we got this job done. I would refer you to the Kawasaki Vulcan Forums where there are folks who could advise you. Nod to RACNRAY (you will find his posts on the Kawasaki Vulcan forums) out of Florida. That guy knows his stuff. Good luck!
Hi Allen. Several reasons for choosing Kawasaki over Harley. After much research, owners of the Vequero and Nomad were very happy. A very good and comfortable ride, liquid cooled, V twin, with cruise control included. The overall price and with 0% financing was hard to beat too. Overall I am very happy with the bike. Thanks for your question!
I ride a 2000 model year VN1500 Nomad..100 mile round trip to work twice a week.. been cross country at least 7 times, over 103,000 miles with no major repairs.. change oil, tires and replaced clutch every 35 - 40,000 miles..i am buying the VN1700 Voyager ( vaquero type , only with tall windshield and travel trunk) within months. Paid $7,000 for the 1500 with 5,300 miles, 15 years ago. I found a 2012 Voyager for $7,350 with 16,000 miles likely keep it 15 years too. My son bought a new Street Glide 2 years ago for $22,500. If you gotta have that 'image' , you actually pay for it, but if you wanna rumble and ride for years..get what you want.
Thanks for your comment! Do you mean the triovals? Yes, I do think they sound better now that I've had them for several months. They are less metalic sounding and slightly more throaty. Full throttle on the road both bikes now sound close to identical in both of our opinions.
+Lyndell Ricard Hey Lindell, no, I still haven't added a fuel commander or made any other changes to the intake. I'm still considering it, however. I'm just not too sure it'll be worth it yet, which is why I've procrastinated.
YOU MUST GET THIS BIKE IVANIZED!!!! it makes the bike a million times better! no need for a air intake, but i would reccommend it , i have the raoring toyz that ivan reccommends and the vance and hines slip ons..... ivanizing is the best thing you can do for these bikes hands down.... www.ivansperformanceproducts.com/vn1700.htm
Well to me they sound quite good, but the vance and hinze have got the edge at idle. But what about out on the road might be a different matter. The Cobras look nicer however. Perhaps one cannot expect to have their cake and eat it?
They really look good but the sound is not to great at all. Also what the hell is the loud clacking from the engine? It sounds like a bad tappet or a piston slapping. The Green bike with the Vance & Hinds wins the sound contest.

Should have left them both stock. Kawasaki v twins sound like poop with open exhaust. Very "ticky". Nothing against Kawi's - just think other v twins sound better.
Hi James they both sound great
Love the look of the cobras. Loved the video and your sense of humor. Thanks!!
I have the 2011 1700 voyager with the Vance and Hines, I also added the cobra fuel manager, anyway I really think you have shown the Vance and Hines have a deeper sound than the Tri-oval, great video.
Y'all made it look so easy, I decided to try it my self. Two hours start to finish! Thanks for your great video tutorial.
Love the bikes. I have a 05 Vulcan 1500fi with the Cobra 2000 fuel tuner and a KN air filter with a set of Cobra slash cuts. I put the bike on the dyno and I got a return of 89 hp. Vance and Hines all day
Greatly enjoyed your video, tri oval pipes are really sharp...
Great video! Your sense of humor kept me watching :) I agree with the sound VS looks comments here. I also wonder if that higher frequency ticking will go away after breakin? Maybe you could do another video? A link to Two Guys Cycle would be a real plus! Cheers

Vance & Hines hands down thanks for the comparison guys
Thoroughly enjoyed watching that video. Very funny.
Nice job gentlemen. I'll be Installing a set of cobras on my 1700 classic when they come in the mail.
They both sound Great, just wait
till the Tri ovals break-in,they'll sound good too.
Two beautiful rides there! I am looking to change the exhaust on my 2009 Kawasaki Vulcan Nomad 1700 myself.
I agree looks cobra sound Vance and Hines
nice i have a Vulcan 1500 yer 2000 whit deep sound Vance Hines pipes like a lot ,, but the Cobra i so cool ,i live in Denmark
I am impressed with both exhaust. V&H do sound better but the Cobra looks way better. I have been toying with the idea of the cobras, you just convinced me to go ahead with Cobra Tri Oval. You said you found the cheap in GA could you tell me where you found them?
Looks = cobra.... Sound = V&H
I hope that spilled beer went to Quality Control !! 😜
Vance won the Pepsi Cola challenge.... but MAN does your BIKE LOOK GOOD !!
liked both, vance and hines sounded deeper. used to have cobras on my VTX and they were awesome. side note... a little upset about dumping half a beer.
+Keith Hanson LOL Keith. I hear ya...

I remember doing this a few times. Loved it.
Very sweet. Glad the bottle of beer is an included option. :)
I the V&H sounds better personally but the Cobras are gorgeous
I’ve always preferred the V&H sound over the Cobra…the tri-ovals do look better…just seems to go better with the lines of the bike..rounds seem out of place…the V&H ovals would look a little better than the rounds…but definitely the V&H have a deeper, throatier sound imho

Great vid! Attempting to install V&H slip-ons on my 2014 Vaquero using this as guide. Thanks!
glad to hear it... you got this! Ride safe.
+James Saldutti did you get away with no power commander or ECU mod?
+Jonathan Meran Both bikes have the slip ons and both do not have the power commander or ECU mod.
Cobras by far!
Beautiful bike ... Love the color ...
They both sound good! Not too much of a difference
Vance and Hines sound better but I like the cobra look.
Very entertaining and informative guys.
+freddy fuss Thanks Freddy!
I am trying to find the Cobra for my Voyager but I can't find it available anywhere, please help if you know where I can purchase them.
I like the look of the cobra pipes , but the Vance and Hines sound better .
Thanks! I'll get the Vance & Hines!

steven saldutti with the k&n that 1 second delay is gone i ordered v&h the other day cant wait to put them on. thanks for the video
can you tell me where you bought your pipes? i have been looking for these pipes but they go for about 700.00 i have a 2014 vaquero
I.m partial to the Vance and Hines, but that's what I had on my Harley Roadking. Set off MANY alarms with those pipes!!! In fact, that's the bike in my profile pic.
can you list the website where you got them from
The look of the Cobras are awesome, however Vance & Hines sound better.
I agree. The Cobras look better, but the Vance & Haines sound better.
Can you give me the model number for the Cobra Tri-Oval Exhaust, please.
Cobra Sounds like a sewing machine, and the V&H sound best.
Cobras look awesome though imo
12:40 Buyers remorse. LOL
it would be nice to see the same comparison after Corba slipons break in. I believe, that it would sound different
I had the tri oval installed on my 2013 voyager and the cobra auto tuner power commander but i'm getting popping like sound from it, do you know of any solutions...please

thank you steven and thank you james for responding back to my question, I will try and find the forum...
Cobras sound nice!!! Out of curiosity, why did you decide to put money into to Kawasaki oppose to the Harley? Why choose Kawasaki?

Can you put straight pipe on a 2000 nomad anyone know I did it with my 800 but not sure about the nomad
can you remove the baffles out of the vance and hines....
+Oakmond Jones, my understanding is yes. We will be looking into that project soon. Stay tuned!
Thanks
The Black one, Sounds like me 50ccm

Throttleback¡~😎 ~Vanes&Hines~!00%
Sorry, though yours look better, his sound better.
Beer abuse- V&H

Vance rounds sound better!
0
I love the look# of the cobra trip ovals. but the Vance an Hines sounds better. maybe the cobra needs to burn in.
I Like was made in USA., you know! Now the sound is perfect; i mean is very diferent; but is more open.
Sound of green kawasaki better

Too bad they closed.
Just get a set of pipes and a jet kit cause those slip on's sound like shit .

Tbe lne on the right
Should have left them both stock. Kawasaki v twins sound like poop with open exhaust. Very "ticky". Nothing against Kawi's - just think other v twins sound better.
