    Well done Lama Biker. Followed your video to the “T” on my 2009 Kawasaki Vulcan 900 custom & sound is AMAZING! No impact to performance whatsoever. If your thinking about stage 2 de-baffle, don’t think twice. Walk through this step by step video & guaranteed you will not be sorry with end result. Sure as hell beats cost of custom exhaust & sounds just as good. Love it. Love it. Love it. ✌🏼😎

    Just did this and used your method with the wood plug idea. Wish i had done this sooner but did not feel confident until watching your video. Thank you so much I'm very happy with the outcome (not sure how my neighbors feel 😁). Without a doubt the best debaffle video for vulcan 900 on youtube. Finished with some heat resistant flat black spray paint inside.

    Did this on my 01 Nomad (1500) that had cobra slash cut true duels which have welded baffles. Used the bimetal hole saw bit to cut that ring out and it came out easy enough using a corded drill but there was another just like it at the other end. I put a 24" rebar rod between the inner pipe wall and the baffle, banged on it with a 3lb hammer in several spots until it was too weak to hold onto that end of the baffle and pulled it out with an extended needle nose. Came out clean and now she sounds absolutely beautiful qith that low noted gruffy putter.

    I found you dont need to actually hole saw and bust out the whole baffle for the same effect.
    6 large or 8 smaller holes as in stage one then use a 205mm long 3/4 drill and drill a hole through the plate thats half way down the baffle.
    Just as loud and should you wish to you can tap threads in the holes using high tensile allen bolts and put it back to its original configuration.
    Which when selling the bike can be an advantage.

    Thank you making such a great video. I also have 2008 Vulcan 900C. I followed your instructions and got the baffle out. Bike sounds amazing!
    I rode it only once and I did hear popping noise once. Not sure if there is a solution to eliminate it.

    • @lamabiker179
      @lamabiker179  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Imran Ahmed thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately the popping noise will be heard especially during deceleration. It’s been said that is to marble and/or get a fuel controller. By marbling you’ve simply shut off fresh air from entering the exhaust system. Without the O2 mixing with the super hot unburn A/F mixture, there’s no burn or de ellos pop. Unless your exhaust gaskets start leaking, the popping shouldn’t return.
      This is according to Vulcan Forums.

    The process works EXACTLY as described. Using the 2 1/2" hole saw took about 3 minutes per pipe with a corded drill and being careful so that's an easy process. It leaves the inside pipe nice and clean.
    Really get those baffle "flanges" pushed back so when you put the 1" dowel in the pipe, you can just work it around. No need to try to muscle it. Just work it back and forth and around. Trust the process, it will come out.

    OPEN QUESTION::
    I completed stage 1 on my husbands bike and he’s happy with the volume. I want to know if there is a way to put the face plates back on? By not removing the baffle completely it’s still visible. Obviously I cannot use the rivet holes. So?
    ANY suggestions from anyone are much appreciated!

    • @uomo3047
      @uomo3047 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, here you have an idea:
      One option may be to make a round metal plate with a diameter 3 millimeters larger than the inside diameter of the exhaust. Bend the contour of the plate making an eyebrow and bend it inwards, and in that eyebrow drill a hole and another equal in the exhaust in the area in front of the brake disc... That round plate must fit a little under pressure inside the exhaust... Then, in the round plate, drill the 3 holes where the rivets of the original exhaust front plate will go. You place the original front plate and the rivets that will hold it. Of course to the round metal plate you will have to make the central hole that coincides with the hole of the original front plate... I hope you like this idea and it works.

    For anyone thinking about doing this, stage 2 sounds great, but it’s not worth the gas mileage loss. I used to be able to ride 200miles per tank, after stage 2 debaffle at 180 miles I was left stranded, now that doesn’t seem too bad, 20 miles off the tank, we’ll my gas light ended up coming on earlier after that, I haven’t rode past 150 miles per tank.. I regret stage 2, aside from that you get popping on acceleration and the exhaust smells of gas.

      Tony Alb it all depends. For me the cheaper option was to defaffle the pipes. But if you have the funds for aftermarket pipes and/or going for a different look then go for it. Just make sure after getting new pipes, to air fuel tune the bike. I’m planning of getting a better airflow and to increase the fuel input in the cylinder to match all the air. Increase air inflow to match the outflow.

    Well everyone that went through this whole process there a lot easier way remove the pipes take the tips off and pull the center out put the pipes back on. This way if you have a warranty you can put them back in without voiding your warranty also youll need a power commander to program the stock computer to run correctly and add the power and correct sound please dont do this its so much easier to just pull the pipes. And do it right. Not knocking this way by any means it works. But youll never get the best sound.

    If your bike is fuel injected there will be no popping on deceleration. This is caused by an incorrect mixture , ( too lean ). Fuel injected bikes will automatically correct the mixture.

      yeah they pop on deceleration for numerous reasons...
      also, fuel injected bike engines follow a fueling map but not all of them rely on real time sensors (temps, load, oxygen, etc) to self-tune.

      Not true at all. A debaffle by itself requires no tuning / dyno and no aftermarket tuner or fuel management. If he did the debaffle AND upgraded his air intake, then he would need a tuner.

    Why all this surgery. It takes a few screws removed to debaffle Harley. Mustve been the same genious that thought self canceling signal and 4 ways were too much work.

    В этой истории очень жаль пёсика. Почему он привязан? Когда хозяин зачем-то кидает пёсе выпиленные дудки, в глазах у собакена вселенская грусть, что хозяин у него такой долбоящер - полчаса езды на этом колхозном тюнинге гарантируют мигрень как наезднику, так и любому попутчику. Тот случай, когда собака умнее хозяина.

    Exhaust Sound Recording Notes: 1. Never, ever, ever, record inside (tip, we ride outside) 2. Never put the camera (microphone) close to the exhaust exit (tip, we don't experience exhaust sounds that way naturally). Shortcut: Get outside and have a friend or tripod record while you ride. It's really that simple. Don't be put off by my comments. These mistakes are very common, they just serve no purpose.
