What are things about mics that you'd like to know or have simplified for you? If someone already suggested something that you like, like the comment. I'll be keeping an eye down here to make sure I'm giving you guys the best help I can ❤
I’d like to know more about recording in OBS for import into video editors. For example, Davinci doesn’t like my OBS recordings and after transcribe, nothing happens. Probably the way I’m recording in OBS.
I really love the lighting in this video. Great job man. Looked great, especially the b-roll shots! Hope y'all have fun purchasing and setting up your mics! Been using a Wave 1 for years and I'll never go back to a headset mic.
i have a hyperx quadcast, when i first got it i was never aware of how bad it sounded by default i just bought it cause it was cool looking. but after i got a new pc i realized how bad it could sound and how it was picking up my keyboard, mouse etc. so i started using steelseries gg's sonar program it was really easy to setup and now i sound crisp and it doesnt pick up keyboard sounds. (i use the deep voice preset if anyone was wondering. since my voice is deep)
Hey Harris! I've been watching you for a few years now, and ended up getting caught up with life and not watching much youtube at all so I've missed a lot of your videos, but I've always loved your content, and recommend it to any one trying to learn more and get into streaming/content creation. I remember when you first put out stream beats, and a couple weeks ago I looked at it again, and holy cow the amount of progress that has been made there is amazing! All that to say, thank you for what you do! I know you have helped out so many people in the industry, and I hope you keep at it for a long time to come ❤
I remember i got into streaming cause of you during world shutdown 2019/20. This is the only channel I regularly come back to. Good stuff and good vibes, as always.
for the filters(audio effects) to work you need to select Wave Link MicrophoneFX (Elgato Wave:3) do a quick recording and double check swapping between wave 3/micfx and play it back to check.
I can't wait until these masterclasses get a bit more advanced, but they have been beyond helpful when I lost my scenes recently. Now I don't have to second guess myself!
Finally, someone actually saying to shoot for the yellow X"D Having done media production for my major and worked as an audio engineer for live and studio for 7 years, it always irked me when people would say "don't hit the yellow, never hit yellow. Stay in green". It is so common on YT guide videos, that I almost never send YT guides to friends who are trying to setup audio anymore and I just jump on calls with them to help out XP
Harris, I think you really should’ve added some detail about using noise suppression filters as well as the compression and equalizing. The average person we don’t have a studio space a that filter, especially the RN noise filter in OBS is essential.
What is wrong with youtube algorithm all these big tech tubers are barely breaking 10k views on alot of there videos but the quality or nothing has seemed to change in content is the algorithm just broken or somthing?
not gonna lie, when his channel blew up it was during the Fortnite Ninja phase, where people were coming to gaming just to become streamers which significantly boosted how much he was put into the algorithm. now his videos are just being pushed to niche groups of people that appreciate tech like microphones, audio setups & webcams
I just wonder, if there can be an easy setup above the monitor or to the side (not intruding your space for gaming), that is just cancelling enough keyboard out to make it better (I e.g. use voice activation and I can imagine it being a hassle, if the mic picks up the noise of the keyboard). I see some "out of frame" booms facing down towards the speaker. Doesnt that pick up way more keyboard than anywhere else? I just want to sound decent enough...my go to for just voice were laveliers and I digged a little deeper and found unidirectional but I dont know if that would help. I sit mainly with my headphones...so a clip mic was decent, but as I lean towards the keyboard, it activated my voice too quickly. I heard some regular singing mics losing the voice quite rapidly...so I wonder if a rode videomic go 2 would maybe be a have decent solution to place at the side of you.
This thumbnail is very missleading, I clicked on the video thinking I could finally make my Quadcast S useful (very bad mic choice imo) but turns out it's yet another elgato video. Now i aint mad about an elgato video but yeah, next time include the microphone that you are actually featuring into the thumbnail instead of missleading the thumbnail.
@@Nman2003 i use it right now and its missing a lot of features and the program itself is very buggy, causes crashes and sometimes bugs out the entire default sound, effectively resetting most of my EQ.
Right at the start, I could tell the difference in mic quality. But I actually think the cheaper one sounds better and more natural... I use an AKG C214 for my "high-quality" needs, and a Shure SM57 (percussion microphone) for everything else. They're really cheap and sound really good.
Silencing Screams Completely Solution? I love the Elgato Noise Removal and other AI Noise Removal plugins but they silent my screams completely! My friends and viewers delight in hearing the screams so I have to do without AI Noise Removal. I use a Compressor, and my noise removal work around is using Deesgate plugin.. It's not as good but it atleast gets rid of some noise.
I have a Yeti X mic but i also use a Jabra EVOLVE LINK headset and mic for streaming since my setup is a bit jank and the yeti x on the stand is a bit awkward to use. I would enjoy a tutorial on how to set these up in OBS directly with the built in filters to sound at least decent. I've done the best i could within my capabilities, however not sure it sounds good at all. I'm also partially deaf (only one functioning ear, and sometimes that single ear also has issues) so i have a hard time figuring out what sounds good or not.
I suffer from having a quiet voice but loud background (window ac about 10 feet away). Nvidias filter (background noise remover?) always makes my voice sound like water no matter the strength. I just have to use a slightly high gain because of my voice on a sm7b, which unfortunately brings in background noise.
Second Q: Can you cover making different mics sound similar so doing a voice over doesn't sound completely different than a lav recorded during the action?
What I need is a video about how to stop your compressor making all of the room echoes 10x more obvious. I mean, I have decent foam panels and there's no obvious echoes until I add compression.
Hey, can you, by chance, do a review on the Tonor TD510? I wanna make sure this 50-75 USD mic is a good mic. (There's supposedly 2 versions, and idk which is better. The 510 and 510+. The only thing I can tell is that the 510+ has a boom arm)
Blue yeti is what I've used since 2016, people wonder how much money I dumped into a mic, and are amazed at the audio quality. And it has gone through some moving and bumps, and still doesn't show a single sign of wear or drop in audio quality. This shit was built to last, and it's the best money I've spent on any computer hardware ever. And I mainly use Logitech hardware, but this one takes the cake.
I have the same mic as you and I'm wondering if I should use the G Hub to tune the mic, or if it's better to do it with a 3rd party software. Would you have any tips?
Thanks for all your videos about streaming and reviews for Mics and Cams, I try learn all about thanks to you. But...Im curious, what about add nVidia Broadcast ? Video/audio through that software, codecs etc.? Im confused there (YT,Ttw,Kik,etc.).. use different codecs, resssolution, bitrate...
go xlr now has sub mixes and a dope white color for both versions can you make a video on their submixes? I have other problems with my goxlr mini but submixes seem cool.
Is it possible to have 4 mics in one device? Lets talk about a podcast, and us USB mics instead XLR and bunch of stuff. Only the mic software a OBS am 4 mics connected to one pc?
I have been using the Wave 3 since 2021 in all my streams and I love it. I still get asked to this day when will I buy a XLR mic? My answer is always the same I dont need it I am perfectly content and happy with the Wave 3. I love the design of it and it sounds good.
I am considering swapping from the Rode Podmic to either a Elgato Wave mig or Beacn mic. But i am in doubt of getting the Beacn sound mixer or Elgato Stream deck+... Which do you prefer to control audio?
Hey Harris, have you seen anything on those Hercules stream 100 and 200? I just came across them and was wondering if you were planning to review them at any point?
I'm going to start with video and streaming, but I'm not sure which mic I should choose. Thinking of Røde Podmic or Elgato Wave DX Dynamic since they are most available where I live, but not sure which one. Someone here which have any opinions on which one I should choose?
You talk about elgato but it looks like sound is coming from your shotgun mic. It would bring much more value and trust if you could share your setup, with your chosen gear
Can I get your opinion? I already have an audio interface (focusrite scarlett solo). I want to make gaming and chatting content. Should I get a Rode PodMic or something like a Hyoerx quadcast? Much love!
Big key difference he won't tell you is his noise isolating studio that make his mics sounds so crisp when they are condenser mics . Don't buy a condenser for your home stream . Buy dynamic! Your welcome 😁
Do you have any recommendations to set input level using the windows interface? have a Rhode Nt-USB and find it tough to find a level that's good, seems to either be blown out or too quiet.
Hey. Very useful video. Thank you! Question - I’ve just got myself a Lark M2 microphone… can I add any additional software to that in order to improve quality? Like what’s used in this video? Thanks 🙏🏼
Hey question, i just bought a used rode nt-usb (not the +), i realized it does not have a pre-amp like other recent usb microphones. What kind of software would i need?
PLEASE look at Maono Microphones! So good! I've been using the Maono PD200X for a year and could not be happier! Also has accompanying software (Which is not my favorite part, but better than nothing).
Holy hell, that intro was way louder than the vocals. I lunged for my speakers to turn it down. And then cranked it back up when the vocals came back super soft and I couldn't make anything out. Quite an odd choice for a video about setting up the perfect sound. Might want to rebalance the dynamics for future videos.
Let's all remember how much TH-cam crushes audio. Love your videos man. Hoping to build out a new setup at the end of the year. How would you spend 10k for a set up? Not counting PC and I mean every detail. Thank you!!
This video was a little underwhelming.Don't get me wrong there were some nice informations but the only thing about "better sound quality" is a EQ and a link to a compressor vid. And that's it? No other filters like an Expander etc? No word about the importance of the order of the active filters in OBS? That's a little thin for a "masterclass" imo. showing a dead, unsupported product (GoXLR mini) should be avoided in my opinion. People could buy it thinking you use it and recommend it.

for the filters(audio effects) to work you need to select Wave Link MicrophoneFX (Elgato Wave:3)
do a quick recording and double check swapping between wave 3/micfx and play it back to check.
That also works, however if you want to use the mixer whilst streaming and use your audio effects, you switch it to Wave Link Stream.
The new intro animation you used was great, and the video was very informative overall! 🙏🏼
I love the way you make complicated ideas/tasks sound easy. Keep up the good work
You're the reason why i got myself an Elgato wave 3. Thanks for helping me set it up too! Cheers!
