  • @rickonmic
    @rickonmic ปีที่แล้ว +12

    I agree, it's a good deal, but I still kinda feel it should be priced a bit lower. For $50 less, you get the comparable XCM-50, and only $50 more gets you the XDM-100. It's only a great deal if XLR capability is important to you. (It is to me, bit I'll still wait for a sale or price drop.)

    • @DarkCornerStudios
      @DarkCornerStudios  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I would say for people that want the dual outs, that $50 does make sense.
      And you are right, the XCM50 is a great option too, though it is a condenser.
      That said, I love the sound of it.

  • @SmokeDaJitt

    I was afraid that one side was going to be favored when it comes to the xlr/usb mics. Most other mics with the same xlr or usb connectivity seem to have favored the usb in my experience leaving the xlr just "ehh". RODE of course never disappoints as that doesn't seem to be the case here. Great video! - Antics

    Being a former disc jockey on the radio for years, I like an end-address mic. Right now, I have a Rode NT USB+ (side address) and I really, really like that you can turn on various effects such as Big Bottom using the Rode software. But, I would rather have an end-address mic like this Podmic. BUT, I cannot find a review that confirms that I can save the way I can make it sound using things like Big Bottom to the mic like I can do with the NT USB+. I hear that it can be used with the Rode Central app, but I want to hear that you can use the settings like Big Bottom and Compressor and the Aural Exciter and save it to the PodMic so that it can retain those effects even when just connected with an XLR connector.

    I have had usb and xlr mics.... honestly, i think xlr and mixers are soooo unnecessary and, especially for the mic, in my opinion the usb connection actually sounds wayyyyyy warmer and clearer! idk why people tend to go for xlr mics with mixers! is it really that much better quality?? from my experience, they are just more work! my shure sm7b, i never really cared for it! there was always this static/hissing in the background no matter what i did! but my rode usb mini did a wayyyy better job with sound quality even though their "built in" pop filter was really not that great!

      I could not see any difference between the sound quality of USB-C output microphones and the sound quality of XLR microphones. In fact, USB microphones are much better in terms of portability and ease of use. I say this as someone who also does dubbing.

    It is fantastic. I use it via USB with the DSP stuff enabled, combined with an Insta360 LINK usb C 4k tracking camera. What a great setup! With zero external interface devices, such as audio shaping or video capture. Highly recommended. BTW, I have mounted the PodMic USB on a C Stand(!), due to its weight, as my mic stands kept wilting. currently have the Rhode NT1 4th gen and an Audient Evo 4 as my input.
    The NT1 is on loan from a studio friend that has offered to sell it to me if I want it but also said I could use it basically for as long as I want. The Audient is mine tho
    I have been considering either buying the NT1 from him or buying the Original Podmic and then the USB version came up.
    Over here the usb one is 5500 and the original is 2500 so just over double.
    and the NT1 4th gen is being offered to me at about 4000 (thats with the premium shock mount and an arm that works well enough for it)
    I am wondering if I should sell my Audient interface and go rhode podmic usb?
    Should I stick with the NT1?
    or stick with my audient and get the original podmic?
    Mainly I do twitch streaming. I used to do singing which the NT1 would probably be better for. But I stopped a few years ago due to some throat and lung related health issues.
    So now I just speak and do voice acting.
    I really would love to be able to A/B test between the NT1 and Podmic but I know nobody that owns one.
    thoughts?

      Make sure your pc volume is turned up...as well as the mic input on your pc turned up.

      As others have mentioned, the MV7's default pop-filter is rather infamous for the poop plosive protection and most reviews/discussions I've seen about the mic mention it as the one major negative. Almost everyone's solution is to just replace it with the SM7B's RK345 which goes for like, $15.00 most places, so not too hard to fix if that's truly the only issue you have.
