    I was kinda waiting for "weh"
    You know how both Korea and Philippines have this word but like in Philippines its "weh?" like when you heard something unbelievable.
    "May multo dyan"
    "Weh?"
    Its also functions like "진짜?" But in Korea there also 'wae' "왜" which means 'why'.
    "너는 잘 못하겠어"
    "왜?"
    (Sorry for my Korean 😅)
    They also sound kinda the same when you use it 😆

    • @ragingkangkong4884
      @ragingkangkong4884 3 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Agree.. It's an interesting word.
      You can use "weh?" ("really?") when you sincerely want to confirm something is true
      or you could use it sarcastically, like "are you sure about that."
      basically it's a matter whether you're asking or not.

    "Awit": 1st syllable "Aw" comes frm the word "Ouch" means a painful expression from any english speaker then combined with the next syllable "Kit" which derived frm the filipino word "sakit" means pain, omitting the first syll "sa" to use the last syll "kit". Actually this is a "konyo" word where they are confortable to combine english and filipino words. Btw "sakit" (pain) is also the same in Malaysia and Indonesia. Share ko lan po 😊

    The word "lodi" came from the old mannerism of Filipinos at 1980's to reverse words but more on syllables, for example "Inka"(kaen) , "Goli"(ligo) "Bigtu"(tubig) and the most famous one "Kosing Gawlu"
    (Singko lugaw)
    which means: "5 peso porridge"
    And the trend at that time is slowly coming back these days.
    love your video, you really are updated with the slangs haha

      Actually, that reversing of the letters or syllabes came out and was strongest in the 70s. You'll notice that those inverted words are more prevalent with those in their middle ages because they've actually used them a lot in their childhood. An example would Manila mayor Isko who is very natural in using it. i'm pretty sure he can string up sentences just using reversed words.

      In bisaya we call it ilab ilab from the term bali bali which means inverting in English. This trend is also applied on english words such as relax is called xaler and laysho from the word social/sosyal.

    Add the word “peg” to your list of slang words.
    Peg means taking an inspiration from an ideal person or thing.
    (e.g. “Ito ang peg ko.”) in korean context this is similar to “이게 내 스타일이야” (This is my style)
    Take note though, peg is often used in gay lingo so only lgbt & females mostly use it, straight guys would prefer saying “Ito ang trip ko.”

    • @unknowing5818
      @unknowing5818 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Btw, the literal meaning of “awit” is “to sing”. The slang version is only very recent addition to Filipino’s slang department. Which only the young population may use and understand its meaning.
    Grabe is tagalized version of Spanish word “grave” (gra-veh) which means serious, acute, severe, or grave (adj. grave, graver, gravest in English)

    Hey jessica!!! you might want to check out this rising pinoy pop group in the Philippines, their name is Alamat. Just promoting them also 😂 because I really am a fan of them too. You might want to check them out, especially their mission as a group. They showcase the diverse and various ethnicities in the Philippines by singinging in 7 different languages present in the country (and all 7 belong to the 8 major languages in PH - Tagalog, Bisaya, Hiligaynon, Kapampangan, Ilocano, Bicolano, Waray-waray) and aims to cascade that to the current and future generations of Filipinos. They also have videos that are very educational and you can really have a look of the diversity of the Philippines. Alamat recently debuted last February and one of the members is actually from Bacolod too. You can find their channel in TH-cam as ALAMAT and listen to their debut song kbye. Thank you so much!!!!

But I am in to Korean food, and the only korean I am a fan of was Maanchi. And now you are the second Korean that I like. You are sharing Korea to us in a raw and authentic perspective by submerging yourself in to our culture and then share korean culture to us through your contents in a very relatable way. I have high respect to you maam Jessica. I wish you good health.
