Well I got my True dual battery set up in my pioneer over the weekend. It wasn't to bad, just time consuming. I don't have a lot of stuff, winch, front light bar, 2-rear lights, and a phone charger port. I got the one with a relay for the dual voltage meters, powers them with key on, so they shut off when key is off. Take care, good luck bow hunting, bow season started today here in Missouri.

Your welcome and thank you. Me personally I have had my pioneer in some pretty crazy spots while retrieving deer and I have to say its held up flawless against trees and things hanging down that I have to push through. I really like the armor stuff and some of the aluminum or metal flat tops. But they don't work as good as the factory Honda tops. The main reason I like the Honda roof is the contour of it. It hangs over just enough on the front for a sun visor, it comes down on the back corners over the rear of the cage and it routes water away from the sides so you don't get soaked when it raining. They are just a great engineered part that holds up to stress and time.
How are the directions that come with the hook up? I have ordered some accessories and the directions get frustrating quickly, especially with electrical. Good videos
I found better directions on line. The ones that come with it are understandable but when you go to google and punch in tru dual battery Honda pioneer and then hit images. There is some really good drawings of how this should be done. Thank you and thanks for watching

Your welcome and I'm glad you are getting good use of the videos. Yes it does charge both. If I'm not using the pioneer for maybe a week at a time, I will attach a tender to it and both batteries are ready to go when I use it. Thank you again for your continued support .

Hey Piney, Thx for all the videos! The link you got for the fuse block has a ground block on it? I didn’t see a ground block on your fuse block? Do I need to buy a ground block as well with the new Amazon fuse block?
Me personally I like to have my fuse block separate from my ground block. I guess that is from my drag racing days. lol . I'm not sure how that got switched but I have corrected the video descriptions and links. The link now is for the correct part that i have on my pioneer. Thanks for catching the issue and let me know if I can help in anyway.

Mine did too. I ended up putting a rocker switch in my dash that cuts the power of to my secondary fuse panel that goes to all my switches for my panel. also went to a single voltage gauge just for my accessories.
Yes that shouldn’t be a problem. The main reason I ran the coated wire was because I figured with time the positive wire might get a break or the costing might get rubbed into and ground out. But I see exactley what your saying in less wires.

From what I read through some of these comments here and on forums, I shouldn’t need a dual battery to do this. Do you have any idea what the issue could be? I’m all for putting in a dual battery if necessary. Thanks for any input.
Honestly for one light bar or even two light bars. You don’t need the dual battery set up. On the light at and lights it’s got to be a fuse that just blew. I would check the fuses and see if one’s blown. If so just up the fuse a a few amps and you should be good. Also probably wouldn’t be a bad idea if you added a relay to the light bar hot wire that goes to the high beams just to help from getting the fuse hot. Let me know if you need anymore help or to look up a part for you. Thanks for watching
So, using the fuse and ground block that you added an answer to the key on for power? I've been looking at the plug and play harness that plugs into the back of the 12 v plug, but that looks painfully tough to do with big hands.
No not key on. My switch panel I added is Hooked to a 30 amp rocker switch which is hooked to my secondary battery. So that switch has power all the time. It’s not a lighted switch no more since I did not want it using any power while it’s parked.
So if I did the same I could run the key on power to the fuse for my winch, added lights, whip light and any other accessory that I don't want in the main battery, right?
Yes sir that is correct. I was the same way. I just wanted my main battery for the side x side. And have a way to turn the accessory panel off and on for less battery drainage.
I added the Tru dual set up on 2022 Pioneer. Just curious is the blue light in the isolator suppose to be on all the time? Mine is on when running and when the key is off. It's also on when it has a battery tender on it. Did I wire something wrong?
Hey there. May I ask a question that I can't seem to find an answer to? Why can't a larger capacity battery just be installed? Instead of a second with all the extra wiring.
Hello, With the pioneer running the battery in the front under the hood. That don't leave much room for a larger battery. Plus with a certain battery dimension for the tray you are limited on battery sizes. If you hooking up a few accessories then you should be fine on a regular battery but if your running a lot of accessories the second battery is a plus. Another good thing about two batteries is if one dies you can jump from the other if needed.
You can add a much larger battery under the driver's seat (and run long cables back there), but I would do that in ADDITION to the primary battery and the True Am isolator. The purpose of the isolator is to protect your main battery (responsible for starting the vehicle and operating the DCT, which is very picky when it comes to voltage) in the event that you run your accessories a long time and run the 2nd battery down. Without an isolator or other means to disconnect the two batteries, even with a larger battery, you run the risk of not being able to start your Pioneer and get home. EVERYTHING aftermarket should be powered by the AUX battery, including the winch (move the main leads even if factory or dealer installed). If you want the option to run your accessories with the key OFF, then you can install a DPDT switch that will allow you to (a) run it all normally via key-on power, (b) run any/all accessories connected to the AUX battery and fuse panel just by flipping the switch, or (c) put the switch in the middle position and not allow any accessory to run.
At the time this video was made it was run off of my main battery. When i bought the the side x side I wanted the winch covered under my blue torque warranty. So they installed it and hooked the winch up at honda but after my last battery replacement I moved it to the secondary battery.
I have 2d battery and True isolator installed. I have a winch, front led light bar and reverse lights, and a dual volt meter on my 2022 Pioneer. I do not have a fuse box, or bus bar and everything works fine. Why would I need them?
Sounds like you got some accessories. Do you have every thing just hooked to the batteries or does the 2022 have a fuse block for each accessory with a fuse link? Reason for the blocks is to separate your positive terminals on a fuse link and If there is any issue with a accessory you would just undo the wire from said block and hook up a new accessory. The cool thing about the blocks also is having the fuse to protect that one accessory.
James Fields the tru dual isolator is hooked to both batteries so it can charge them both. My power source is hooked straight to the main battery and the switch panel is hooked to the second battery. Hope this helps . Please Let me know if I answered your question .
I use 12 gauge wire to the fuse block and ground block. Here is the wire link i use amzn.to/4cxEU5h Let me jknow if you need anything else. Thanks for watching
I don’t see why you couldn’t because the isolator alternates between both batteries when they need charge. I have never needed to because my batteries stay charged up. But that’s not a bad idea at all. Let me know how it works and thanks for watching.
I did this awhile back for my talon but it seems like the battery doesn’t get charged enough or stay charged while I’m riding around using accessories. Have you had any issues like this?
Evan, No i haven't had any issues with mine keeping charge. I did run a switch on my panel so i could completely cut the power to the panel just incase something had a pull or developed a short.. is you tru battery isolator wired backwards? maybe?
If your aux battery is not getting charged up while riding around (assuming you're doing more than 3 minute rides), then you've got an issue somewhere with the wiring, one or more of the charging components (e.g., stator, regulator/rectifier, etc.), a battery, or the isolator. The OEM charging system on a Talon or Pioneer is more than adequate to keep up with the average load of accessories, provided you're not trying to pull 1.21 gigawatts at once.
Why didn’t you use a stinger relay? I’m trying to wire in a second battery and watched Robert Sparrow’s video but I’m lost and overwhelmed in the process.
Sorry for the late reply. I didn’t see the need for it at the time and to this day I’m not running one on mine. But I do plan on adding one soon. If I do I will be adding one. Please let me know how yours goes and if I can help in any way. Thanks for watching.
So you didn't install one of those stinger relay's ? I'm thinking about doing a dual battery in my 1000 Pioneer, I'm not sure exactly what the stinger does, and if you need it. Thanks !
Tim Sr. No i didn’t install a stinger. I didn’t install anything extra than what come with the tru dual kit. And mine has worked flawlessly for 2 years. I have put a little over 800 miles on my pioneer. Hope this helps.
@@pineylife Thanks for the fast reply, I'm going to get the kit and do it like yours, looks very neat, and nice. I did notice your battery voltage light is on, does it stay on all the time ? Does it put any drain on battery.Thank you !!!
Tim Sr. Your welcome. It does stay on but I have not seen any voltage drop at all. That worried me for the first few weeks but it’s not enough to hurt anything. Been like that for 2 years. Lol.
Tim Sr. To be honest the battery install is pretty easy. Now wiring the accessories can be time consuming. The main thing that I would say helped me was that I installed all my switch’s and stereo on the panel. Then I ran extra wire from them , marked them and zipped tied them, that way I had plenty of wire to deal with once the panel was installed. That made hooking to the fuse block and ground block so much easier.
Its to help protect the dual electric clutch (dct). if your battery gets low on volts from running accessories it can damage your clutch. Adding the extra battery and running your accessories off of your secondary battery leaves your factory battery to keep your dct with full voltage for shifting.
@@pineylife It benefits the DCT because it protects the original battery from running low. The other benefit from protecting that same battery is that you're not left stranded somewhere because you can't start your SXS to get home.
As I stated in the video. I installed this before my TH-cam channel. If I end up doing another dual battery on a pioneer. I will film step by step. Thanks for watching
I am running a pc925 gel battery for my secondary battery. The way i understand it is the post are reversed and on the opposite side on top of the battery on the pc925L. It’s designed to lay face down where the pc925 can be mounted in any position.

Yes sir, I have absolutely no problems. This time of year I’m running lights on recovering deer (running the front 52.inch light bar, radio, back lights and sometimes side lights)Radio is being used back in forth to my lease. @@pineylife thanks my man I'm about to put it in the Amazon cart and let the wife pay for it 😆😆 im just guessing but when I hook it all up it'll only be hot when the key is turned on, is that correct?
@@dustycrawley5215 Actually the isolator will have power on it all the time because its hooked to both batteries. It does not effect anything or theres no power usage from it having power to it when the switch is off... I have dual volt gauge on my batteries that display the voltage on each battery even while the switch is off so i can see what volt the batteries are at all times... The pioneer alternator charges the batteries after you start driving and the isolator just sends voltage to each battery as it they need it.
No that's not what I'm saying. You don't have to add a extra battery if your NOT gonna use a lot of accessories such as winch. EXAMPLE--The only time this would be a issue is if say you was stuck in a mudhole and you was using your winch to pull yourself out and trying to shift at the same time as the winch is pulling a lot of voltage from your battery and the battery is low you could damage your DCT. If you had a dual battery setup the extra battery would be hooked up to the winch therefor not affecting your main battery as it needs 12 volts to work your clutch properly. Your main battery will work the DCT just fine even when its low if your running a light or so fourth. ONLY if you are using a lot of accessories or a big accessory (such as a winch) would this be a problem. The tru dual system is just a added insurance to protect your machines DCT. For me and my machine im running 4 lightbars ,radio, and winch so I would rather buy the kit than replace a DCT.
I have a similar switch plate and switches. Can someone please tell me where to connect/run the blue and yellow wires from the switches? I have dual battery setup like yours and fuse box like yours. Thanks!
Mil Survival mine was all red and black. The only yellow and blue wire I have In my harness is the yellow from the radio and it’s hooked to the auxiliary battery and the blue wire is not hooked up till I decide if I’m running a amp. Is your yellow and blue coming off each switch?
Thanks for your input but I stated that this install was done before I had my you tube channel. As soon as I find a candidate that has a pioneer and willing to buy the kit. I will install it and video the process. Step by step. Thanks for watching.
My 52 inch light bar recommended a 25 amp fuse. so since I'm running two light bars on each side and a 14 inch on the back I just added 25 amp fuses to all my accessories. I haven't had any issues since the install. Thanks for watching
Beware I used the link and Amazon said PC925 like the one in the video but they sent ODS-AGM28L and it’s too damn big won’t fit sideways front ways etc
Did you get the link from my description? If so I will complain to them about it. I will also go back and see if they changed my link. Thank you for the heads up
I did not install the stinger on mine but I have thought about adding it now that my battery has a couple years on it. But I have not had any issues so far with this set up and know stinger. Hope this helps and thanks for watching.
@@andrewherzog9336 When I installed the dual battery isolator and battery I installed the stinger and wired it in the exhilarating fuse from the OME fuse box it will be the size 15amp fuse. It sounds hard but if you install the ground buss and power fuse box for the power it will be easy to land all your accessories. If you need any help I can send you a lay out how I installed mine.
Your main battery needs to be used for the pioneer electronics only, such as your dct clutch. You do not want to shift at a low volltage due to damaging your dct. The extra battery takes the load of all your accessories without pulling any volts from your primary battery. A larger battery will not fit in the factory battery location but there is two battery compartments in the front that allows you to run two of the same size batteries.
Thanks for watching. I have the amazon links in the description below the video if you click on them it will bring up the exact part i used . i don't mind at all to do another vid on the parts also.

Reason for the blocks is to separate your positive terminals on a fuse link and If there is any issue with a accessory you would just undo the wire from said block and hook up a new accessory. The cool thing about the blocks also is having the fuse to protect that one accessory.
Did you hook the power straight from the battery? Or from an egnition on power source?
James Fields the tru dual isolator is hooked to both batteries so it can charge them both. My power source is hooked straight to the main battery and the switch panel is hooked to the second battery. Hope this helps . Please Let me know if I answered your question .
What size/type wire did you use to feed your fuse block?
I use 12 gauge wire to the fuse block and ground block. Here is the wire link i use amzn.to/4cxEU5h
Let me jknow if you need anything else. Thanks for watching
@@pineylife I meant to actually feed the block. The main wire

Excellent video with links !!!

3006USMC Thank you and thanks for watching. Welcome to piney life
I just installed this. Am I ok to put a trickle charger on it with the isolator?
Lol.
@@pineylife Thanks, I just can't stand doing wiring !!!
What is the main benefit of adding the second battery? Just curious...
Wheres the installation videos?
As I stated in the video. I installed this before my TH-cam channel. If I end up doing another dual battery on a pioneer. I will film step by step. Thanks for watching
@@pineylife My mistake i thought you said you were going to break it up into a series? Dont mind me im a dumb dumb sometimes,,,lol,,
Is there a wire that runs from the ground block to the ground on the machine where the batteries ground?
yes. The ground That goes to my fuse block runs off of the secondary battery ground post. I used a 6 gauge wire to connect the two.
Are you useing a odyssey pc925L gel battery or a Odyssey PC925 gel battery? Or is there a difference,
I am running a pc925 gel battery for my secondary battery. The way i understand it is the post are reversed and on the opposite side on top of the battery on the pc925L. It’s designed to lay face down where the pc925 can be mounted in any position.
Thank you for the information
I just bought 2019 honda pioneer, it has the hard cab, heater, winch, and several aftermarket lights, and I plan on adding a radio and some other electric add ons so I want to be prepared, I find your videos on the Honda pioneer very useful and informative. Thank you the good job of explaining stuff as you do them.
@@waydeclark3022 your welcome
@@waydeclark3022 Congrats on your purchase, sounds like you got a lot of extras with it! Thank you on the comments and support for my videos I really appreciate it! I had already done the install on mine before i started my channel. Im hoping to do a complete install of the dual battery system on another pioneer. Just haven't found the right candidate yet. Thinking about doing a free labor install on a pioneer if the owner buys the parts and then do a detailed step by step install video.. Anyways thanks for watching
Piney everything still good with the set up? I'm about to pull the trigger but I don't want to throw away 300 bucks if its junk 😬😬
Yes sir, I have absolutely no problems. This time of year I’m running lights on recovering deer (running the front 52.inch light bar, radio, back lights and sometimes side lights)Radio is being used back in forth to my lease. Cold weather has not affected either battery at all. I’m extremely pleased with the kit and would recommend it to anyone who is gonna run a lot of accessories or a big winch. It’s worth the money.
@@pineylife hey preciate you piney!!!
@@dustycrawley5215 anytime brother. Let me know how the install goes. Thanks for watching and welcome to piney life!
So what your telling me if you don’t add dual battery and your main battery goes low it’s going to. Damage your DCT ??????????
For me and my machine im running 4 lightbars ,radio, and winch so I would rather buy the kit than replace a DCT.
where u found that fuse box Piney
I got it on amazon. Here's the link to it --- amzn.to/3b6xGdN
I have a similar switch plate and switches. Can someone please tell me
where to connect/run the blue and yellow wires from the switches? I have
dual battery setup like yours and fuse box like yours. Thanks!
Mil Survival mine was all red and black. The only yellow and blue wire I have In my harness is the yellow from the radio and it’s hooked to the auxiliary battery and the blue wire is not hooked up till I decide if I’m running a amp. Is your yellow and blue coming off each switch?
Blue goes to keyed power and yellow goes to ground
Blue goes to keyed power and yellow goes to ground
As it is with every other video of this install , it’s different with several steps left out
Thanks for your input but I stated that this install was done before I had my you tube channel. As soon as I find a candidate that has a pioneer and willing to buy the kit. I will install it and video the process. Step by step. Thanks for watching.
Cool beans. 😃
love that saying. Thanks for watching
How do you know what size of fuse to use?
My 52 inch light bar recommended a 25 amp fuse. so since I'm running two light bars on each side and a 14 inch on the back I just added 25 amp fuses to all my accessories. I haven't had any issues since the install. Thanks for watching
Very good video
Thank you and thanks for watching!
Beware I used the link and Amazon said PC925 like the one in the video but they sent ODS-AGM28L and it’s too damn big won’t fit sideways front ways etc
Did you get the link from my description? If so I will complain to them about it. I will also go back and see if they changed my link. Thank you for the heads up
When you buy the battery isolator do you need the the stinger with it?
I did not install the stinger on mine but I have thought about adding it now that my battery has a couple years on it. But I have not had any issues so far with this set up and know stinger. Hope this helps and thanks for watching.
@@pineylife thanks man
What does the stinger addition do?
@@andrewherzog9336 When I installed the dual battery isolator and battery I installed the stinger and wired it in the exhilarating fuse from the OME fuse box it will be the size 15amp fuse.
It sounds hard but if you install the ground buss and power fuse box for the power it will be easy to land all your accessories. If you need any help I can send you a lay out how I installed mine.
Why dual battery’s why not just one heavier battery ?????
Your main battery needs to be used for the pioneer electronics only, such as your dct clutch. You do not want to shift at a low volltage due to damaging your dct. The extra battery takes the load of all your accessories without pulling any volts from your primary battery. A larger battery will not fit in the factory battery location but there is two battery compartments in the front that allows you to run two of the same size batteries.
Can you make a video of the items on amazon we will need?
