I think you missed the point he’s trying to demonstrate. Real traditional Shaolin Kung Fu empathizes on low stances for a reason. Obviously, you’ve probably never sparred or did full contact like I have. Let me emudcate you boy. Mike Tyson is known to be shorter and has very low boxing stance for a reason. So taller fighters are a very disadvantage because they can’t reach him unless they do a straight hard jab like Lennox Lewis. I still argue the fact that Mike lost that fight because he’s past his prime and doesn’t have that same fighting mentality spirit. Anyways, so if you’re very grounded, you can counter a low kick and can knock the other fighter out of balance. Real Shaolin Kung Fu attack low, medium and then high. They take you out mostly from the ground up. It’s perfect for taking out tall guys because they will fall.

He didn’t check it he just took it, flexing your thigh and moving into it is the best way to mitigate the damage of the kick if you’re not blocking it with a check or evading it entirely but the thing is the kick still lands, you take a few more of those and your leg’s gonna stop working you have to check them properly with the shin.

Moving forward, put ur lil ego away & absorb this Teaching Moment. Ancient masters, from childhood, would practice 1 technique all day, everyday for 2-3 years. So, obviously that level of dedication focus, discipline & concentration would make any style of combat training effective. This is what we dumbass Americans can not conceive nor understand about ancient martial arts combat fight training. It was a way of life. No days off - no vacations

You go through a lot of pain if you're ex athletes, everyone can become master as long as there's a people that get scammed by your tips and trick, but being athlete you need to compete, and won a lot of match to be acknowledged by public, and you naturally already a true combat athletes. meanwhile you can be an obese dude with diabetes, that never run in your life, and you can still become "master", as long as you have enough money to built a dojo and have students or membership.

      Well, so is Thailand lmao.
Anybody is a joke in terms of conventional arms compared to the USA.
But just remember, there are no magic systems. Martial arts aren't effective or ineffective; the question is, how effective is THE PRACTITIONER.
So if this master sparred with a Muay Thai master, the winner wouldn't be Kung Fu or Muay Thai but rather the individual who won the sparring match.
In fact, the same two people can spar at different times on the same day and there might be a different winner.
The principle of "it's not the art it's the artist" applies to many things in life.
In the Navy we say "wooden ships, iron men", which is just a variation on that saying.

He's still getting hit, but this is going to hurt way less than if the kick was allowed to complete.

      1. From this old man’s accent, he surely isn’t Shaolin, let alone Chinese. He’s Indonesian or Singaporean. Also dojo masters surely don’t practice to actually get into a real fight. Most of what they do is for point sparring or just flashy acrobatics that have no purpose in a ring. On the other hand, MT fighters at an early age train their shins to be indestructible. They train to actually destroy their opponents. This man surely wouldn’t be able to block a real MT kick with that measly technique which is likely just for demonstration purposes. The guy kicking him is doing so at less than 40% I’m sure. Try blocking a MT fighters kick by planting your foot to the ground. I’m willing to bet this man’s legs would fold.

When you close the gap in someone's swing, you reduce the force and velocity hugely. Muay Thai leg checks tend to push right through your kick if done right and timed well, which is why you sometimes see the attacker breaking their shin. Traditional masters love to do this “you can’t defeat me, see?” kind of demo. But then they get all puffed up and those closest to them never really challenge them.

I can attest that this does work against (at most) 50-60% power low kicks or a probing kick from a 180lb (max) person.
The trick is to wrap your leg onto theirs using a contrary direction, kinda like a jab parry but for feet.
Unless you've perfected the technique, it'll take some damage but pulling them off of their balance into a counter is usually worth it.
Any higher power and you're better off dodging or circling out like in Muay LerRit.
Have teste din sparring, the best response to a kick is to not take it.

Your comments just show your little understanding about Chinese Kung Fu.
We practice Fung Fu to improve physical fitness, though it might work for self-defense if unavoidable.
Muay Thai is professional fighting contest. If a Muay Thai fighter kicks an old man brutally, no one thinks he is a qualified pro-athlete.
To the best my understanding, some sumo wrestlers and boxers had to apologize for misconducts publicly, or enen be forced to retire after they had won the street fights.
Every sane person won't compare Eluid Kipchoge with
      old distance running teachers. Right!

@Jessica Shih Hello Jessica. An emotional response. You're right I have very limited knowledge on CKF......because its not good for self defence. I concentrated on Muay Thai and BJJ. Quote "Kung Fu Master demonstrates how no handle a Muay Thai kick...". Well he doesn't does he, use his technique and you will either have a broken leg or do a 360.....which was my point. I don't mind all the traditional, showy and pretty much useless martial arts but don't compare them to one that are actually useful. It dangerous and leads to all those videos of 'masters' challenging MMA guys and getting brutalised.

@@joncapon2274 if a Muay Thai fighter the same age as this older gentleman kicks him, will he do a 360? Whatever anyone says about superior technique is wrong if the experience and power (strength + speed + efficiency of movement) is not taken into account.

    • @joncapon2274
      @joncapon2274 ปีที่แล้ว +4

@agordon333 quote "Kung Fu Master demonstrates how to handle a Muay Thai kick....", well he doesn't does he. Do that and you get a broken leg or you do a 360. CFK is a ineffective marital art and should not be compared to Muay Thai.
