I am 28 now, I was 16 when I figured this out. Met a guy when I was around 16, we kind of liked each other, he was the 1st guy I remember liking. We would meet most Fridays at a spot where teenagers go to. One Friday I didn't see him, so I texted him- he didn't reply at that time. When I got home, I believe someone told me that he was seen with another girl around the time we usually meet. For me, that was it. I pretended like I knew nothing. I agreed to meet him the next Friday- when that day came I was at home watching TV, while he was calling and texting my phone wondering where I was- I didn't answer. Later in the night I messaged him, asking if he liked the feeling of being stood up. That was it for me. A few weeks/months later, I got a call from the same guy. I answered. He began talking... so I asked him "who's this?" Needless to say, the guy was shocked that I didn't seem to know who he was and even more shocked that it seems that I had deleted his number ...
I interpreted this as advice on what to do when you don't know yet that he's a player. I wish I had applied this to my last two relationships at the beginning. It would have saved me uncountable pain.
I keep most of my former dates as friends - unless they tried to manipulate me. Manipulation shows total disrespect to you and don't ever offer friendship to a player. Friendship also requires mutual appreciation and respect and they obviously don't have it or they would not try to manipulate you. Deacent people will not hand down their bad experiences to others. That the player has been played with is not an excuse. I have great longterm male friends that do more for me than many "boyfreinds" do. That is the reason why I only date if I see a real potential for a committed relationship. The "friend zone" judgement only is a blow to people who buy into this strange concept.

I got hurt and had to have my knee reconstructed. I was told I would never run again, I was put back together with plastic and cadaver parts and forever lost 15 degrees of r.om.. By age 30 I was told I would need a knee replacement. Instead of feeling sorry for myself and becoming a fat loser, I took up bodybuilding because it can be done safely. I turned pro at the old age of 37 only 1 year after I started to compete. I now have 2 pro titles. But yeah....you sound like a real winner. No wonder no one wants you.

It's hard to do this and it hurts every time. People who play games are not empaths like the ones they manipulate. I want to believe it's a good thing I've dated people like this and I know the red flags and I trust my intuition. In the meantime you have your options open for better guys. A player will not change for you or for these games. I got hurt and had to have my knee reconstructed. I was told I would never run again, I was put back together with plastic and cadaver parts and forever lost 15 degrees of r.om.. By age 30 I was told I would need a knee replacement. Instead of feeling sorry for myself and becoming a fat loser, I took up bodybuilding because it can be done safely. I turned pro at the old age of 37 only 1 year after I started to compete. I now have 2 pro titles. But yeah....you sound like a real winner. No wonder no one wants you.

This is sooooo true. I’ve been talking (hooking up) with this guy for almost a year and I drive him absolutely nuts w/ the “we’re just friends” and the “I’ve been busy.” Now it all makes sense 😬
It's hard to do this and it hurts every time. People who play games are not empaths like the ones they manipulate. I want to believe it's a good thing I've dated people like this and I know the red flags and I trust my intuition. I feel like I'm becoming more and more jaded because I don't know if I'm drawn to these types of people lol but they seem to find me and I'm just left saying another one bites the dust in the end. Being upfront doesn't work, holding out doesn't work, not being exclusive doesn't work, nothing will change the fact that players will say anything to keep you around when they want you. Amazing advice! I wish I had heard this 10 years ago. This is not a waste of time or too much work. You need to clear out the situation and put your boundaries with a player. In the meantime you have your options open for better guys. A player will not change for you or for these games. He will only change if he feels he had enough of meaningless sex and he wants to settle. Last time I heard from a player I used to know he got married and had a kid in less than a year. He just decided that it was boring to sleep with random people after being 34.
