I barely started playing MW3 a few weeks ago because it was on gamepass, I had no intention of purchasing it beforehand. My biggest gripe with zombies is the slow slog at the start of every match. No true solo option also hurts because you never really have to worry about dying since you can just ask the entire lobby for a revive and 2-4 people are bound to help. I also didn’t like the timer, that damn timer has stood in my way of completing so many missions on the first try so I have to rush into another match just to finish that mission and either exfil asap or complete teir 2 contracts until the time runs down. My BIGGEST pet peeve in MWZ is getting disconnected and losing containment levels and everything I had brought with me, I’m actually scared to use my wonder weapon cases because I don’t want to instantly lose them. All in all though I enjoy playing it in short bursts like you said because of the cooldowns and tedium, I just can’t put hours into it like I could with classic zombies
When season 3 was out and I finally had Deadwire detonator, it made Kazimirs out of the picture. I didn’t need to buy Kazimirs anymore. Molotovs became useful. 6-8 Kazimirs is basically 30k-40k essence saved with 6-8 Molotovs stacked, and they can be replenished, unlike Kazimirs. To this day I don’t buy Kazimirs UNLESS my Deadwire detonator is on cooldown or I have spare DWDs. Deadwire Detonator is an ABSOLUTE WORTH to have.
Crazy idea for making MWZ's timer better. Instead of the circle just expanding after 45 minutes, have the circle move around the map every X amount of time. Maybe 30 minutes to keep things fresh, and forgoing the timer entirely, or having this and giving like 3 hours instead.
I remember playing MWZ for the first time on a free weekend. I instantly felt that Der Enfang was better when I got beamed by human mercenaries in my zombies mode lol I look forward to finishing this video. Liked
It was fun, I enjoyed my time with it. It was something different to the typical round based and with actual recourse investment I could see something like mwz blossoming into something truly great. Maybe some people just need to realize the mode isn’t to your style or taste and not that it’s actually bad cause it really wasn’t, I enjoyed and had more fun with it then I did with Cold War. This mode was positively received at launch by people so I find it kinda cringe how now everyone is switching up and calling it trash or people who haven’t even truly given it a chance and just played around in tier 1 calling it bad. Its just dumb to me Its wasted potential but it’s not like I bought this game for zombies anyways, it was just a nice bonus and I actually have almost 80 hours of playtime on mwz almost more then I did with multiplayer.
First off, that pfp is based Second, the positive reception at launch came from how unique the mode was, and how it had potential for incredible content. The positive reception started to wain in around season 2, where no content was announced at its launch. Then it got worse in s4 when we literally only got one update the entire season. The lack of content and support hurt this game beyond words. I switched up from liking the game to disliking it, but it wasn’t instant. I held on to hope that they would at least add a new map, but they didn’t even do that.
@@zestymoon yeah I agree, I mean the post launch content really hurt especially since I was so hopeful for the future of the mode but idk. The negativity that sprouted after launch doesn’t change my feelings towards the mode and it doesn’t rid the great memories I have and experienced especially at launch, riding around with 5 other randoms in tier 3 fighting mega abominations having no idea what the meta was and not knowing what was going on will always remain a core memory for me. But my comment is more directed towards the zombies community in general and some of the stuff I’ve seen, people calling it “dmz or warzone zombies” or saying mwz was never a good idea at all or that zombies should always stick to round based is just like massive pointer stick of showing that it’s coming from someone who never truly tried the mode in the first place, I even feel like the map feels nothing like how urzikstan does and my mind completely separates it from the warzone varient and I absolutely love the atmosphere and what they did with the map even if it’s nothing ground breaking. Maybe I’m just a corporate shill or something but I feel like some people just need to look past the flaws of certain things and enjoy it for what it is even if that sounds wrong. It’s like anytime someone says “I enjoyed mwz” someone has to come in and say “well the mode was designed poorly and and is objectively bad” and it’s just annoying to hear and it’s even more disheartening learning we’re getting dmz again in mw4 and we will probably never get mwz again and we will go back to outbreak which is a more solo experience which I think ruins the vibe of what mwz strives to be which is a cooperative experience with cool random people unless your a god and can solo all the hardest stuff.
Haven’t played cods throughout their year of content since bo3, that includes MW3. Got it and played for a few days. I just started playing MWZ for the first time a few days ago and I’m loving it. I think it’s a good spin off mode taking the foundation of outbreak, and mixing that with an extraction shooter. Never played extraction games before and idk it’s got a neat game system that I can casually enjoy grinding the mission challenges solo
@@zestymoon yessir. the fact that there's a time limit, the constant crashes (I'm in the middle East servers too and my games crash like crazy), and the fact that you can't even play in a private lobby is absolutely ASININE. I didn't know about the unstable rift and good lord does that sound obnoxious from what you described also bonus points for using naruto music!
As you said early in the video, it wasnt adressed for traditional zombies players like us, the target audience was from the newer modes and mp players and the comments in defense of the mode show it. Youre on point but i really fear it will fall on deaf ears for most people because they have little to no experience of rb zombies (not all of them, but definitely most) so they cant comprehend the criticism.
That being said, I did try my best to not compare this game to rb zombies as much as I can, because I want this video to be a critique on the game itself, and not a pandering session to old zombies.
1:16:25 I live and play in America and I still get constant crashes even when doing dark aether item gather quest my game would crash and I’d lose everything
In other words, you are having the typical modern warfare 3 zombies experience. The crashing problem I was talking about was related to a bug with the language files of the game that made portions of the map completely inaccessible. And since the Middle East version of the game downloads these files by default, every middle eastern player is incapable of playing zombies
I played every zombies title for their entire cycle except vanguard and mwz. Why? 1 answer for each game. Vanguard: Why am I competing with other players to even find zombies to kill? Mwz: Why am I glitching to even have fun.
My issue is they can make Purgatory, thats just a rebirth battle royal map that's zombie themed a 2 hour limit, but couldn't do the same for actual zombies?? They stopped updating it after season 3, and obviously could care less about it. But they sure as hell will make sure to patch any glitches though
It was such a shame how the bones of the mode was genuinely good, but sadly the lack of updates and the lack of community transparency ruined this game in the long run. I'm glad it brought some new fans to round based and as someone who's played since BO1: I still had fun despite the flaws
1:29:39 The painful truth of modern gaming, said simply yet eloquently. Also insane props for buying multiple copies of the game to get the content for this video. Also also, I don’t want to go find the time stamp about the durability of American walls, but I was incredibly triggered until I looked at what is on my terribly fragile wall and was given a gentle, reassuring, embracing glance from my *_fully automatic_* M16A4.
make sure you don't accidently fire your fully automatic M16A4. it's possible that one of the bullets might go though your wall, the neighbor's wall, and hit one of the neighbors by accident
Mwz is a wasted potential i wish they did not pulled treyarch from the support Atleast some devs from treyarch to keep the mode with something different every season
It was nothing more but a grind set for ranking, guns, camos, and xp. Mid story and it’s just warzone/dmz zombies. It would’ve been better if they added other warzone maps like rebirth, fortune’s keep, Ashika island, Vondel, etc. as zombie modes instead just only Urzikstan.
@@zestymoon Was watching/listening to your olders videos, while doing something, and had to check the channel to make sure. But the editing style is also pretty close, and needless to say that the quality of your content is also pretty top notch.
Something that I absolutely despise with regards to stories is when they have significant potential to do something cool, and throw all that potential in the garbage. This is only PART of the issue I take with MWZ. MWZ and other extraction-type modes are inherently malicious game modes. They are too long for casuals to enjoy and properly get into, yet too short for hardcore players to get a meaningful play session that actually matters. Area scaling enemies is not good game design, and reusing bosses repeatedly is lazy as all hell. The story has no significance and Jansen is a whiny brat. And the worst part is that they actually tried to pass off an entirely different gamemode that nobody in the Zombies community wanted as a zombies experience thinking we wouldn't notice. Great video.
That's like the best way to put it omg. The difficulty of the mode not being about actually challenging but being how much you can bypass the system, thus the fun doesn't come from how well you fair against challenges but how much you can bypass the system which gets boring Worse still, it's not even an unique mode they created from scratch. It's entirely leftover codes from dmz. It's basically dmz but with zombies. Well I'm not saying dmz-style gameplay is inherently bad but it's one thing to try out new stuff and it didn't work, but not even trying to make it look like they put efforts into it is on another level of couldn't-care-less The time limit is still very much a problem but no longer in a "not enough time" way. Imo, a timer makes you constantly worried about not utilizing every minute of it, sure you can still just chill and do tier1 w/o spending crazy loots but that's just simply not rewarding, ofc players are gonna lean towards the playstyle that's rewarding. And the rewarding playstyle it evidently forces on you is one that's grindy and tedious, which in return makes me feel like the match goes on forever instead
After bo6, and as much it pains me to say it but it's time to let it go if zombies and focus on something else. They literally have lighting in a bottle just waiting with the extinction game mode from ghost if they just give it another chance. Because it had so much potential. And looting and having an armor system just fits more with extinction than zombies. It would be perfect
I’d give this game mode a 6.5/10. I had fun being able to learning how to deal with the tiers, contracts, warps/ees, different places of the maps. What gets me is how much more it could’ve been. The dark aether got a little creative, but it took until nearing to the end of this game’s life cycle to get there. The pack a punch system was around the same as Cold War’s and same with ammo mods. Then came the horrible servers that would kick you out. Results of that happening are that you lose everything in your backpack, insured slots are on cooldown and you lose an insane amount of your extraction bonus. What I really do like about this game mode is how forgiving it is to newer players willing to learn how to get their operator armor, upgraded backpack, self revive and perks.(I say this as a zombies noob :D)
I would personally give it a similar rating, but I wanted more from this mode. it started out great at launch, and never built upon the structure it created.
I just completed the entire game within a month because it has just been put on gamepass, I enjoyed it for the most part but once you have everything unlocked and you have done everything the game truly has NOTHING else to offer.
I've gone back to Bo3 recently and had to completely re learn everything to be able to complete the main easter eggs. It is the most fun I've had playing zombies probably since it's original release. Honestly i don't think it's even possible for the current developers to create something like Bo3 again. (Whether it's lack of time/skill/care idk) but when a game from 2015 can completely outshine the current 2024 version it really seems like they don't care.
my personal thoughts on this is that I think it's really just a change in target demographic. they are trying to appeal to a crowd that is much easier to appeal to/impress than the older fanbase. you and I might not like this game, but a massive amount of people do. I remember this one clip on twitter of someone calling mw3 the best zombies mode, and in the clip, all he does is throw a monkey bomb. he literally says that he never enjoyed the old zombies games but he enjoyed this one.
@zestymoon I hear it and I actually agree to some extent. Some of it is really complicated for casual players that just wanna play zombies without doing the easter eggs but at the same time it really does suck that we won't get anything like bo3 again. I did try to enjoy mwz (I have all schematics unlocked) but it's a completely different game.
the things i hate the most in mwz is that dam timer bro it takes to long to do shit by the time im close woth op weapons i gotta go to exil and cant use them again
"well call our game modern warfare 2 so that when people talk about how mw2 was the greatest call of duty to exist they'll actually be talking about our game!"
The worst part about the story: BO6 is useless, we know that Weaver is going to end up in the warzone map with 3 other members of the team with 2 vials left, meaning 2 more have been used during the BO6 story...
Within 30 seconds of this video, I HAD to leave a like on it. Everybody was rightfully upset for the campaign, yet people defended MWZ. Especially from what I seen on twitter. People understand Warzone ruining the campaign gameplay but don’t see that for the Zombies? I don’t understand that. I don’t think the same people who defended MWZ is going to stay as loyal to those who played traditional zombies
Never looked into MW3 zombies before, so as my first exposure, I gotta say… WHEN WILL THEY LEARN PUTTING GUYS WITH GUNS THAT SHOOT AT YOU IS A TERRIBLE IDEA FOR ZOMBIES?!?!
I had many purple gear sets stolen from me due to server instability. I just quit after the game stole so much progress from me over and over again without even a sorry.
I dont get how throughout this entire game's life cycle, activision never put any time into fixing the packet bursts and connectivity issues AT ALL It's so, so fucking dumb
what I meant is that you can leave the weapon stash building while still doing progress to the contract, while if you leave the outlast building, you'll start losing progress. I still should've clarified that though
In my opinion and experience as a player form the first days of black ops 2… at MOST Cold War was pushing it. Did its best in some regards and its worst in others… but after Cold War I.E. Vanguard, WW2, MW3, just… no… they strayed too damn far… lost what makes zombies.. well zombies.. and it deeply saddens me. I played Day 1 Tranzit on the Xbox 360, yea I know I suffered that hell myself, I played every WaW and Black ops 1 dlc and base game… I *Love* zombies as it was my childhood! I only really enjoy up to CW because the replay value with camos and challenges and the like. Otherwise when I’m done with Dark Aether I’m done.. but now it’s just… what’s the point? Truly what is the point of MW3 zombies? It goes to show from what we see in Black ops 6 they are going right back to Cold War esque style…
the most popular crash, 0xC0000005(N) occured because the server and this shitty game wasnt able to talk with other people used to think its THEIR PC got some problem (driver issues, XMP, CPU or mainboard issue, etc) but it isnt. Just the game client being unstable and the server go whack
Mwz saddens me for what it could have been but i saw the writing on the wall When they started adding zombies content in the middle of a season only and it was always recycled bullshit They didnt care about mwz players at all A shame cause the guns/gameplay and map were fun

How is that any different from like BO1? Not all weapons are good, and all becomes useless after you reach a certain round because of their health. At least in MWZ, all good weapons stay good, and even then they’re mostly not one shot and could still put you at risk of getting overwhelmed especially in the DA

That time limit is a fucking crime as well as the 3 only per squad. Those 2 reasons were enough to make me give up. The whole idea of an open world is that you can do things at your own pace. Who thought it was a good idea to implement the limit. You can genuinely have fun in this game until you realize that 1 extraction zone is left and you're 400 miles from it and time is running out. Now you have to drop what you're doing, rush to get to that zone only for a PUBG ass zone to kill you and you lose everything you spent the past 45 minutes doing. Just a waste of time🤦♂️ Also we're already wasting enough time as it is but yet we gotta sit through the same infil and exfil animation every single time and for a game that's always online it takes real fucking long to actually get into the map.
Look if you like the new zombies that’s cool. Nothing wrong with change. Is it for me? No. But they tried something new.
I instantly felt that Der Enfang was better when I got beamed by human mercenaries in my zombies mode lol
I look forward to finishing this video. Liked
Warzone has its claws in the other game modes in CoD now. Wouldn't be surprised if it somehow got shoved into the campaign at some point.
@@KappaJones it already has. Many of the missions in mw3 take place in sections of mw2019 warzone map Verdansk.
The number of lazers in this game is ridiculous.
Its just dumb to me
Its wasted potential but it’s not like I bought this game for zombies anyways, it was just a nice bonus and I actually have almost 80 hours of playtime on mwz almost more then I did with multiplayer.
First off, that pfp is based
Second, the positive reception at launch came from how unique the mode was, and how it had potential for incredible content.
Never played extraction games before and idk it’s got a neat game system that I can casually enjoy grinding the mission challenges solo
can't wait to watch this. I played mwz recently too and I'm ready to hear all my frustrations through this video
have your expectations been met?
@@zestymoon yessir. the fact that there's a time limit, the constant crashes (I'm in the middle East servers too and my games crash like crazy), and the fact that you can't even play in a private lobby is absolutely ASININE. I didn't know about the unstable rift and good lord does that sound obnoxious from what you described
also bonus points for using naruto music!
I just got the notification😢 now im cursed to watch an entire 50 second ad😭
been waiting for this one lets go, will update my comment after i watch the video
Felt like Kekashi was explaining someone’s jutsu to me at 10:00 😂
no way really? who woulda guessed
BABE WAKE UP ZESTYMOON HAS JUST DROPPED HIS MAGNUM OPUS
Great video 💪
BO6 zombies is gonna ripped a new one soon enough
1:16:25 I live and play in America and I still get constant crashes even when doing dark aether item gather quest my game would crash and I’d lose everything
In other words, you are having the typical modern warfare 3 zombies experience. The crashing problem I was talking about was related to a bug with the language files of the game that made portions of the map completely inaccessible. And since the Middle East version of the game downloads these files by default, every middle eastern player is incapable of playing zombies
Getting this for free on gamepass is the only reason I play it and even then the other options on gamepass are just more worth it
I played every zombies title for their entire cycle except vanguard and mwz.
As an Outbreak fan, I would have been all over this game mode, had they not had a BS time limit. I love the open world concept of Zombies.
Mwz is a wasted potential i wish they did not pulled treyarch from the support
Atleast some devs from treyarch to keep the mode with something different every season
It was nothing more but a grind set for ranking, guns, camos, and xp. Mid story and it’s just warzone/dmz zombies. It would’ve been better if they added other warzone maps like rebirth, fortune’s keep, Ashika island, Vondel, etc. as zombie modes instead just only Urzikstan.
can't believe videogamedunkey is also doing cod zombies review now
as a fan of dunkey myself, I have no idea if you are referring to the way I speak or my editing style. but I'm honored regardless
Yeaaaaa (holy f 2 months in the making zesty works too much)
That's like the best way to put it omg. The difficulty of the mode not being about actually challenging but being how much you can bypass the system, thus the fun doesn't come from how well you fair against challenges but how much you can bypass the system which gets boring
Worse still, it's not even an unique mode they created from scratch. It's entirely leftover codes from dmz. It's basically dmz but with zombies. Well I'm not saying dmz-style gameplay is inherently bad but it's one thing to try out new stuff and it didn't work, but not even trying to make it look like they put efforts into it is on another level of couldn't-care-less
The time limit is still very much a problem but no longer in a "not enough time" way.
For the last 3 months EVERY match I played had constant pocket loss and extrapolation issues.
I would personally give it a similar rating, but I wanted more from this mode. it started out great at launch, and never built upon the structure it created.
yeah we playing this one on the work intercoms
You are enhancing the experience of everyone there
I just completed the entire game within a month because it has just been put on gamepass, I enjoyed it for the most part but once you have everything unlocked and you have done everything the game truly has NOTHING else to offer.
Am I the only person that wanted a Call of Duty zombies campaign something like nightmare from Black Ops 3 but it was an original story
Don’t forget you CANNOT turn off the annoying ass auto aim. Literally back 4 blood tier developing.
Make a playlist in your channel
Thank you
Done
@@zestymoon keep growing champ, your videos are good
I've gone back to Bo3 recently and had to completely re learn everything to be able to complete the main easter eggs.
MWZ and Vanguard is the only time i've agreed with the zombies community on zombies being bad
Gonna be missing my prison sentence to watch this instead.
the things i hate the most in mwz is that dam timer bro it takes to long to do shit by the time im close woth op weapons i gotta go to exil and cant use them again
"well call our game modern warfare 2 so that when people talk about how mw2 was the greatest call of duty to exist they'll actually be talking about our game!"
It’s fine if you forget that it’s call of duty. I don’t really count it as an entry into the proper zombies mode, but I still find it tons of fun.
Never looked into MW3 zombies before, so as my first exposure, I gotta say…
WHEN WILL THEY LEARN PUTTING GUYS WITH GUNS THAT SHOOT AT YOU IS A TERRIBLE IDEA FOR ZOMBIES?!?!
A shame, the whole concept of Operation Deadbolt atleas lore wise was cool for me
I had many purple gear sets stolen from me due to server instability. I just quit after the game stole so much progress from me over and over again without even a sorry.
I know what I’ll be doing today and tomorrow, watching this video of course
Hope you enjoy it man
@@zestymoonI enjoyed it! Which game is next?
Probably bo4, but I have a couple other ideas in mind that I want to do.
@@zestymoon looking forward to it 👀
I dont get how throughout this entire game's life cycle, activision never put any time into fixing the packet bursts and connectivity issues AT ALL
It's so, so fucking dumb
You can leave an outlast contract the same way you can with an safe contract
what I meant is that you can leave the weapon stash building while still doing progress to the contract, while if you leave the outlast building, you'll start losing progress. I still should've clarified that though
My brain isn't "doing the happy" either ...
Can’t understate how much I relate to this?
Sentries only appear in Merc camps in zone 2
I would love to see a continuation of the chaos story of bo4 instead of this "usa vs russia" shtfest of cold war, vanguard, mw3 and cold war 2 ("bo6")
the most popular crash, 0xC0000005(N) occured because the server and this shitty game wasnt able to talk with other
people used to think its THEIR PC got some problem (driver issues, XMP, CPU or mainboard issue, etc) but it isnt. Just the game client being unstable and the server go whack
I personally loved this mode, it was just poorly handled and given to an audience thay didnt want it.
Mwz saddens me for what it could have been but i saw the writing on the wall
When they started adding zombies content in the middle of a season only and it was always recycled bullshit
They didnt care about mwz players at all
A shame cause the guns/gameplay and map were fun
cant wait for 1 on blops 6
we gotta wait a long time for that for sure
For me this game mode is a how to get bored speedrun and also a packet burst simulator
And somehow I just know they’re not doing away with the gay purple crystals everywhere. It’s gonna trickle over into bo6 they can’t help themselves
I’m gonna be honest with you chief, I straight up didn’t know MW3 had a zombies mode. Haven’t even seen a minute of gameplay till your video. Take that how you will
@@Egalia_1 honestly, I wish I was in your position. Being ignorant of this game would’ve given me a better life

I enjoy the outbreak style game mode as an option. But the feel of this one was horrible. And that time limit was the worst.
2:19 idk who needs these reassurances but jesus you can not like something without having to grovel to the people who do. Are these kinda of people so insure about themselves they get pissed off by criticisms about MWZ and take it as a personal attack, seriously?? I love MWZ and find it interesting to see why people dont.
@@sneedler5993 you would be surprised by the amount of people that get pissed off to an unhinged level when they see someone dislike a game that they like. Now that you bring it up, I think that this segment was completely pointless, since those people are gonna look at the title and comment about the video without watching it
Though the mode slightly warmed up to me over time, for CoD Zombies, this is as boring as it gets. If this was an extra mode just thrown in just because I might have accidentally thought it was half decent. But since this is all we had, yeah this is disappointing. And honestly I’m giving up hope completely for CoD Zombies in general. Even for Bo6. Even if it’s good.

The mode is pretty bad, a solo option, private servers, and a pause menu would’ve saved this game for me personally.
it would certainly help a lot
You just figured this out?
I used to love mwz but the longer i played it the more i startet haiting it i hate that u can only use the best weapons in tier3 like 95% of all weapons are useless there. Now i went back to black ops 1 and 2 zombies and i have so much more fun. mwz made appreciate bo1 zombies much more
How is that any different from like BO1? Not all weapons are good, and all becomes useless after you reach a certain round because of their health. At least in MWZ, all good weapons stay good, and even then they’re mostly not one shot and could still put you at risk of getting overwhelmed especially in the DA
@@evilkratos55 yeah but what i enjoy is using diffrent weapons for diffrent strats like using weak weapons like the famas for point farming and then trying to survive high rounds with the traps
Mwz i got 200hours on it the first 100 were really fun but after a while always the same contracts always the same elder portal bc everyone wants the golden armor ruined it to me and i cant even try out new guns the most fun ive ever had was when the fire ammo was bugged and did way to much damage thats whenn all shotguns were usable thx to dragonbreath a lot of mw2 weapons were usable in tier 3 too but now ... its just tidious to me
its so ass if ur looking for the round based experience, but it isnt a terrible mode imo
I forgot mwIII even had a zombies mode

@@zestymoon that's so real
That time limit is a fucking crime as well as the 3 only per squad.
Those 2 reasons were enough to make me give up.
The whole idea of an open world is that you can do things at your own pace. Who thought it was a good idea to implement the limit. You can genuinely have fun in this game until you realize that 1 extraction zone is left and you're 400 miles from it and time is running out. Now you have to drop what you're doing, rush to get to that zone only for a PUBG ass zone to kill you and you lose everything you spent the past 45 minutes doing. Just a waste of time🤦♂️
Also we're already wasting enough time as it is but yet we gotta sit through the same infil and exfil animation every single time and for a game that's always online it takes real fucking long to actually get into the map.
Goat’s referenced 30:15
It sucks cause I was interested in the idea of mw having its own take on the zombies mode but obviously it was disappointing and a huge letdown
AMEN
So basically cod zombies x stranger things😂
wtf is there a zombies mode in a remake of an old game
Look if you like the new zombies that’s cool. Nothing wrong with change. Is it for me? No. But they tried something new. I heard it had some unique features and was well received by the people who liked it. I liked Extinction mode from Ghost. I just want old zombies back. I wish we could have both modes so both zombies crowd can be happy.
WaW custom maps exists, you can use plutonium to play with friends. if for some reason you don't own a PC you definitly should, the game is so old it can run on cheap hardware and frankly you can do a lot of cool stuff with a computer besides gaming.
