I've ran the Showdown and the Deep Woods on my rigs and the Deep Woods are a much better tire for rock crawling, especially on slick rock style surfaces. The Showdowns grab good in loose dirt and jagged rocks, but just don't have enough rubber contact for more smooth surfaces. I will run Deep Woods on many more rigs in the future! Great tire at a fantastic price!
I know what your talkin about with the showdowns. I cut 2 sipes per lug with a dremel with my 2.2s. That increased traction but not quite to the degree of the deepwoods. They're just awesome times.
I went with the deep woods. Can’t believe hyrax are nearly twice the price and wear out quickly. Now can someone make a reasonably priced dual stage foam or at least a closed cell foam that works with soft single stage foams to create a dual.
Needing to upgrade my stock tires on my Gen8 v2, i was considering either the pro-lines hyrax predators, jconcept landmines, or the deep woods. After watching this video and a quick search on pricing, I went with the deep woods. This tire guide helped tremendously as well!
i have videos on my buddy giving my scalers to try because my 10.2 f100 wasnt doing well. no joke... those scalers outperformed his f100 with deepwoods.. on every single surface... i fell in love with duratrax at that moment!
I thought I would give the Deep Woods a try. After purchasing two sets I found the foams in each set were two different sizes, 120mm and 125mm. What is the correct diameter? The foams came out all wrinkled as if they were inserted without care. I am letting the foams rest outside the tires to see if they regain their shape. If Horizon Hobbies has any info that might help them to regain their shape that would be appreciated.

Got a set of the deep woods. And after u wash them u can stack them on top of each other and u can pick up the top tire and it pulls the other ones with it. It won't do all 4 but does 3 stacked on top of each other. Very good tire. I can tell a big difference when I'm running a different tire
I got the 20 dollar two set on my rcs and they haven’t failed me yet and there one of my first scale brands and I use them in my red cat gen 8 as well as used the same tires on my scx10 honcho and there a little worn wear the wrighting is
I don't think ya could go wrong with any of them. But they're gonna be huge on your truck. Definitely don't go any bigger then the 1.9s. I have 2.2s and they're a smidge under 6". You'll have some rubbin issues to address but your truck will climb a tree. Lol.

@little harold I’m using ottsix halos. Also proline dual stage but don’t like them nearly as much. Couldn’t really find anything more economical.

I bought a set of 2.2s and they were huge compared to most 2.2s. Are the 1.9s bigger than most 1.9s also?
He worked so HARD not to mention the TRX4 when he started listing some crawler models in the beginning hey :p

Yes, we use Deep Wood from many months, they are really good, especially with wet conditions.
