  • Todays Famous Grave visit, I go to see the Famous Grave of Hanoi Rocks drummer, Musician Nicholas Dingley. Who's life was cut short whilst partying with Motley Crue.
Nicholas Charles Dingley (2 December 1960 - 8 December 1984), better known by his stage name Razzle, was the English drummer of Finnish glam rock band Hanoi Rocks from 1982 until his death.

I was on the motorway doing 70mph and got totalled by a drunk driver and was nearly killed at the same age. I don't have any sympathy at all for drunk drivers. My sympathies for the drunk's victims.

Vince has always claimed to be cut up over Razzles death, yet to this very day he is STILL boozing it up. You'd have thought that killing your friend and permanently maiming two others would have made Vince swear off booze for life, but it didn't. Shame on you Vince.

I knew Razzle well, right from his days in The Fuck Pigs, Demon Preacher and the Dark. He was best mates with my mate Adam, went to a number of gigs with him not just the ones he was playing in. I remember when he got the gig to join Hanoi Rocks. At the time I was 17 just left school still living at my dads.
A real surreal moment I fondly remember was being in my dads house playing my guitar when my mate Adam turned up with Razzle and Nasty Suicide I had this little Leo valve practice amp and can remember Nasty playing it and absolutely raving about the guitar tone.

I have watched the film version of "The Dirt." The last time I did so, it really hit me that Razzle was never mentioned by name; his real name. It made me wonder if Vince Neil and the rest of the band even knew his name. They lived such shallow lives. It makes the loss of Nicholas Dingley that much worse.

I was a freshman in 1985 shortly after the crash and was walking in Nashville the day of the Crue concert. I saw Vince standing outside the Hermitage Hotel with an L.A. County Sheriff Department's shirt and blue snake skin boots. I walked by him and said "God Bless Razzle". He wouldn't even acknowledge me. So f#ck Vince Neil. It serves him right that he's a modern day joke as a lead singer. The fact that he lost his young daughter is probably karma for the pain he caused and the way he treats others.

I think to myself, why wouldn't Andy and Michael have stepped in and provided a worthy headstone for their band mate? I don't know English traditions... so perhaps this is common and my throught is out of place. A stone with a Top Hat would be perfect. Love Hanoi Rocks (Nasty, Sam, Michael, and Andy). Thanks again for a great story Paul, but really tragic ending for him. I was a big fan of Motley Crue in the day. Here’s a funny (but true) story about them . When they released their album Dr Feelgood, someone bought me a T shirt which had printed on the back “…the Crue’s back and they brought the Doctor…”. I was wearing this once whilst walking in the Lake District and a group of girls came running up to me whilst I was on a fell called Red Gable ( I think that’s right?) and asked if I could help a colleague who had twisted their ankle. I went to help and and fortunately it was only a slight strain. I strapped it up and advised them to go back and get it checked out. They were really grateful and said fancy bumping into a Doctor on the fell. I felt a bit embarrassed explaining I wasn’t a doctor, just a fan of the band !! We had a good laugh about it 🤣🤣 👍

Vince Neil did 15 days on a 30 day sentence, on the weekends only, at a Sheriff's substation, not actually County Jail. He's had AT LEAST 4 DUIs since then, in 2007, 2010, 2015 & 2019. So he's not exactly remorseful. He did the same amount of time for the 2010 DUI (in which no one was killed or injured) as he did for killing Razzle & seriously injuring two others. If you're referring to the $2.6 million he had to pay the victims &/or their families, considering he's worth $50 million (probably way more back then), that's hardly much of a "payment."
Of course, he DOES have to go through life being Vince Neil, & that's a far worse punishment than anyone ever could have given him. Fat, talentless, butt end of countless jokes. His own bandmates laugh at him!

Thanks Paul. Nicely filmed from Southsea to the island. The hovercraft is a unique way to travel, we use it occasionally to get over there as we live nearby.

Now I don’t know whether anyone notice, two dates of death for him was recorded. USA date was the 8th Dec but UK date was the 9th.
The Dirt is brilliant film and like Paul says you do need an open mind, as it is it is life in a very fast lane.
Thanks for another great video. ❤

@@UnusualThings1 4 years to the day after John Lennon was shot. December 8th not a good day for musicians...except Jim Morrison, who was born on that day 1943.

On the Netflix bio "The Dirt" they showed his death but in the movie they downed played Vince Neil's intoxication.
In fact, in the movie I don't think they portrayed Vince being drunk at all.
Another great episode coming up I see. Beauty.
    Thank you Paul.
    Appreciate your uploads.
