@@777trader8 Does an EV make sense for you? Here's my perspective. I bought a Model 3 in the spring of 2019 when my ICE car was on its last legs. About that time EVs were finally becoming a feasible option. I could have gone the inexpensive route and replaced the engine for $3-4K, bought a perfectly decent used ICE car for $5-10K, or a new one for under $30K, but I chose to spend closer to $40K for the EV. I am very pleased with the purchase. I love that I don't have to go to gas stations or change the oil. I charge at home almost exclusively; works for me as I don't drive much. I really love that I don't have to be concerned with oil leaks on the driveway or garage floor, or passing emissions inspections. The peppy performance is very fun and I consider it a safety feature when you need it for merging or other maneuvers. The modern driving assistance features are certainly not perfect but are very good and can be attributed as to why Teslas are rated with the highest safety and accident avoidance marks. Each person has unique vehicle requirements and preferences. If you drive very long distances daily and need lots of cargo space such as offered by a truck or van, an EV may not yet be your ideal match. If you need a city car for trips to work, shopping, etc., an EV will probably do just great. Financially, other than the initial premium cost, the equation is very good. @@777trader8 I am not concerned about replacing the batteries. When I bought mine I believe the batteries were estimated to last around 300-500K miles, and since then I've heard perhaps even approaching a million miles. The only reason I could see to replace the batteries other than physical damage due to an accident would be if battery technology improved so dramatically that you could double or triple the range. Nice. Can't wait to see your new Model Y! I love my Y. I ordered it early as well and had panel gap issues. I didn't get FSD and am glad I didn't. But not having to worry about the gas pump, and always having an amazing drive, plus autopilot... (game changer for road trips) has been more than worth it. I don't and never did have noise issues. Paid a total of $53,600 when it was all said and done. Have had it 2 years and I still love it.
I also sold my 2020-built Model Y and bought a 2022 to replace it. I was hoping that the fit and finish would be better, but honestly, I had way more issues with the new car compared to my older one. I agree that Tesla pushes the quality control onto the customer, and it's really frustrating with how much more expensive the Model Y has become. I'm already 4 service center visits in and another is already scheduled. I think I got pretty unlucky with the quantity of issues, but the quality control checks clearly missed some serious flaws. My service center noted that my car was the worst they had seen in a while, but some issues like a high pitched whine they want to charge me to fix (even though I reported it on the first day of delivery). Hoping that my issues get resolved eventually, thanks for all the great Tesla content!
Dang, can I ask what other QC issues you had? My Y delivered mid-May had a half dollar sized paint blemish above a b pillar - no clear coat & u can see some primer. Also, the driver's door would rub against the fender when opening, making a big thud. Thankfully all fixed with one trip.
Sadly, your experience is typical. Tesla still does not know how to build cars. They are constantly having to make running changes because they are so far off from the right solutions. Its not "innovation." Its we suck at making cars and we are trying to make them less sucky. An Elon bot will be along shortly to say its not true.
I ordered my “Y” in December and just got it last week, and I found a lot of problems with mine from paint bubbles, misaligned panels, trunk lid paint chips, dents, and some interior cosmetic issues. I recommended everyone download the checklist because there were other buyers there with no checklist. When they saw me using a checklist, they then started checking their cars and the three cars around mine had similar problems I had, and 1 of the three refused to take delivery. We did accept delivery and have a service appt. to get all the repairs fixed. Also, the delivery date estimate is a joke! Mine first went, from April-May to June-July to August-September to November-February of 2023, then back to July-August! BTW your channel is excellent and has helped me immensely!
Hey Scott, did you order with FSD? I ordered mine in last November and delivery date moved like yours and now it is July-August but VIN is not yet assigned.
Received my Model Y Saturday. No big issues at all in terms of functionality. The steering wheel just had a blemish/rubber scratch mark, seats had buckle marking and one panel gape near the light. Cars works well but still need to test the charging ports and heated seats
got mine saturday too! tesla birthday buddies? haha. i’m in the same boat though. have an exterior A pillar panel that sticks out a little bit and i had a small dent where the corner of the charging cover opens up. But I Love it so far and driving it is so much more fun than anything i’ve ever driven.
My 2022 MYLR has been flawless. Fit and finish was excellent. I’m completely satisfied with my purchase. It’s an amazing car. I love driving more than any other car I owned.
Me too. Our 2022 MYLR has been perfect. No fit and finish issues except there was one drop of paint on the rubber door gasket that I was able to remove. It was a very expensive car but just about all cars are expensive right now.
The best thing I love about Tesla is their 100,000-mile battery warranty. I tend to ditch mines around 115 k miles or when I start to notice a slight battery deficiency. I just trade it for a newer model.
I remember when you got your first Tesla Model Y and I was so excited for you! I’ve been watching your videos over the years, and thank you for supporting EVs. I am sorry those bad things happened but I hope from now on that you will have good luck with your new Tesla and much better times! Congratulations on your new vehicle, and I also hope everything goes well!
Rented my Model 3 on Turo once and car was damaged. It wasn’t accident with another car, but my vehicle was damaged. It was all covered by Turo, but it was a hassle to get all the money and repair the car. Wasted time for not a lot of profit. I don’t plan to rent my car out again.
I sold my 2021 Model 3 SR+, with 18,000 miles, one accident reported, but otherwise clean, for $47,000. I bought my M3 off the lot at Telsa in St Louis, for $38,000. I owned the car for about 16 months. When it was all said and done, I walked away with close to a $18000 check. I got back my $8000 down payment from my Suby, plus all my payments and then some. plus another $2700 check from at fault driver's insurance for a little bump that never got fixed. It is unbelievable that you can sell a year old car for a profit. There used to be a rule that when you drove the car off the lot, it lost 30% right away. aka you are stuck with it. Now I have the car I wanted, but was a bit out of my price range. 2022 M3 LR, in the dark blue on white. I love the extra range, when I take road trips.
After I got my Model 3 LR. Of course my sister decided to start trying out Tesla as well. Due having a family on her own (fiance, kid and a dog). They need a SUV type. They tried the Model Y. I got to drive it once and I didn't like it, I did check the modes on it, but at that time found it to be a struggle to turn the wheel (bigger tires I guess). The car felt more clunky than the Model 3.
I too had hoped to pick up my new Y in Austin. Sadly, the timing did not allow it, however I still love the Fremont built car. Hope you can get the 4860’s in a long range version. That would provide topics for many interesting videos. Good luck.
Honestly I’m amazed that despite all the work renting it out, and the fact you could sell unreasonably high in this market you still came out negative. Hope TH-cam paid off you earned it
We got our new 2020 Model "Y" 24,000 miles ago and had flawless service from it! With the exception of a flat tire being fixed, no work has been done on this vehicle! Peace!
Just picked up my Austin made long range Y on Tuesday. Still some minor issues but they're getting there. Sold my 2017 Prius Prime (25 miles on electric) at in insane price. A good time not to own an ICE vehicle!
2 questions: 1. will you ever go back to gas cars? 2. will you own/keep your teslas after the 4 year warranty is up? hoping to here your thoughts on those, great video by the way!
1. I drove my son's 2010 Ford Crown Vic Police Interceptor. We work on it, and it is in near perfect shape. He loves it. But I hated driving it. I hated parking it without the visual aids. When you let off the gas, it keeps going without using brakes. It has ABS and that's it. I have gotten spoiled knowing my Telsa is looking after me. I have become a lazy driver. 2. This, I think will be the issue with long term Telsa owners. Little things that break and cost a "LOT" to fix. Mirrors that open and close EVERY time you get close with your phone. Easy Entry, that use the power seat motors to move the seats around. The more you use these motors, the more likely they will fail after years of use. And Telsa don't sell after market, or Hanes manual to repair yourself. The scroll wheels on the steering wheel are used for EVERYTHING. When I went from a 2021 SR+ with 18,000 miles a to a 2022 LR, I can already see those wheels were weaker. They are for cruise control and volume when you normally drive, but you need them for a lot more in the car. If they fail, how much are those to fix? I have heard of the windows regulators going out, seat sensors failing, stopping the car going into drive, and the charge port door won't open which is a $500 fix.
@@ken90004 i appreciate you so much for this response, as this is where i am with my bear ended warranty. i definitely needed to hear that, i appreciate that, man.
Imagine going to a high end restaurant and your food is undercooked. The waiter takes back your plate to the kitchen and the chef recooks the food to a satisfactory level. That’s the car buying experience at Tesla.
I ordered FSD with my CyberTruck. It was to be $7k. But I am not sure if Tesla will ever be able to take out all the bugs out of the FSD with the current architecture. I watched MobilEye's "unedited" drive in Jerusalem. It was very impressive. It will be an interesting 2-3 years when all these companies compete with their autonomous driving solutions.
You mentioned that you were going to try to pick up a model Y from Texas but I thought that you lived in California. Is that an option for people from the West Coast to pick up a car from Texas?
I am really surprise you sold your model Y. When I first saw your TH-cam channel, you were so looking forward to having one. The story of your ordering and not being delivered and you switched to ordering again, the car was driven to your house and the salesman drove away your Fit, I also remembered. Today, you are not just owning a model Y, you also buying model 3, and several Tesla. It’s like from a small family and getting more kids (cars). Like your channel of your experience with your Tesla. Although I am not in US, the cost seems not much sense to me. Hopefully after selling of your model Y, your experience with Tesla will get better, at least not much fixing required.
Outstanding recap of your car history, the costs, the income, and the overall experience. That car sure had an interesting "childhood." The new owner, if they can learn who it's original owner was, will have a well documented history. That increases the value by itself, CARFAX on steroids!
I believe you got the “Raw” deal from Tesla on the drive motor repair. It sounded to me the failure was due the Constant Velocity Joint, add the noise you were hearing and all the grease around the failure, it points to CV Joint. It is possible the first front accident could have contributed to failure, since I believe from your video, accident was on same RF side of CV Joint failure. In an case, the suspension upgrade had “NO” bearing on failure. (Keep in mind all OEM’s would have taken this opportunity to get out of the warranty repair, upgrade/modification to origin OEM design, license to steal).
I have a new PMY on order, CarGuru has offered me $64,159 for my 2020 LR AWD Y, my new PMY lists for $67,990. It was a no brainer given all the improvements found on the new Y. Am hoping I get the new door panels and real laminated glass.
The glaring omission is insurance costs. Undoubtedly this cost thousands more per year than a cheaper car to keep insured. And the accidents may have raised your insurance rates.
Neither are the case actually. I paid $120/mo with my previous car, this went up to $140/mo and stayed there with the MY. Rates do not change after an accident in CA, and since neither were my fault, the money all came from the at fault drivers’ insurance.
Thank you for sharing and the transparency. I have a long range model Y 7 seater hopefully coming out of Texas in November. I’m an hour south of the factory.
Got my 2021 LR MY Oct 2020. Took only 5 weeks. Still love it! Moved into a house last year & installed Nima charger to get faster charging. Will not go back to an ICE car as I had a Hybrid prior. Planning on keeping this vehicle for a minimum of 3-4 years. It’s perfect for a single mom. ☺️👍🚗 Only damage is some Road Rash on one Induction wheel. 🙏🏻🙏🏻😔
used car market is good for all cars not just Teslas. i'm personally not ready for a 100% EV hence I sold my 2019 Honda Clarity PHEV for a 5k profit this year and got a XC90 Recharge extended range
I ended up with an extra order because I had an open order when I noticed demo cars in inventory back in September. While I tried to reach my Tesla rep, I saw the cars disappearing and I needed to jump on a car before all the inventory was gone. So, I ended up with an extra order. Tesla wasn't willing to refund my order fee ($250) and simply told me to keep the order just in case. So, I still have the order. It is fun to check on the order just to see how long I would have waited if I had not acted quickly - based on latest estimates, my extra order will be over a year from when I placed the order if the time remains true (unlikely). Anyway, I have a few months to figure out what to do with the extra order. As much as I would love another Model Y, I don't think I can afford it nor justify it. I would sell the minivan, but it sure comes in handy during the holidays. I suppose worst case - I'm out $250 in order to save over a year of waiting (worth it!).
May I ask what site you used to sell your car? With the two accidents I’m surprised at the offer you were able to get considering carvana was only offering 38k for my m3lr 2021 with one not at fault accident and the repair was only 1500….

@@jmattos I si want the look of the 20 inch wheels and like the black rims. But I do love having more miles. And I keep hearing also that the 19 inch rides softer and not as stiff. So I’m thinking just ordering model Y with 19 inch wheels. And reading your comment just made up my mind.
I think Ryan did cover this in another video, but the 19" wheels seem to be night and day different with a softer ride than the 20" wheel. I also ordered a Model Y with 19" wheels.
This is something that Musk just doesn't seem to understand. The S hasn't really changed that much in the 10 years that it's been available. People don't want to drop a boat load of cash on nay car that looks the same as the car from 7 model years ago. People want others to know that they bought the latest and greatest. That's hard to do when all of the cars look the same for their entire life span.
When did you order your 2022 MY? I have an estimated delivery of Aug/Sep for a MYP. Your channel has been invaluable and I hope to create decent content on YT as well.
Ryan, thank you for videos. I’ve always learned so much, and really appreciate it. Like you, I ordered and took delivery of my Y in the same timeframe. Q: What company did you sell it to? Or, what list of companies did you shop it to? (Looking to sell mine as well). Thanks!
Sold my white on white 21 model Y lr 2 months ago with 46k miles on it . I ordered mine in may of 21 received it 8/16/21. Drove tf out of it and listed it locally (Houston) and literally 45 minutes later had an offer 1k over my asking price. I ended up making 8k after driving it 46k miles and my only issues was a bad tpms sensor and it was ready for tires (I put 2 used on it lol). I wasn’t impressed with the range and Tesla is very misleading with that, plus my battery towards the last month would only charge to 312 miles vs 326. Wasn’t a bad experience but I honestly wouldn’t buy another Tesla as a daily driver. I’d get a plaid for a toy but they aren’t practical for daily drivers or road trip cars. Mine ended up at a Volvo/infinity dealership in Dallas where they resold it (I tracked it on my app until it was sold and removed from my app).

I ordered mine in last November and delivery date moved like yours and now it is July-August but VIN is not yet assigned.
where can i find this checklist? I had MYP delivery date today just to be called in the morning stating it was delayed.
No I did not. What color did you order.
@@MrKedrinscott white with white interior and with 3rd row.
I can accept one or two initial issues but I won't accept all the issues you found in a brand new car, especially one that costs > $50k. Sorry
No big issues? For a 60k car, a blemish is not a big issue?? You must be kidding. A 50k car from other manufacturers is flawless on delivery.
This is why I would never buy 1st and 2nd gen of _any_ product. I waited and now I'm super happy with my 2022 M3.
@@NatmanFilms The ones built in the USA seem to have more issues than the Chinese built ones
"I didn't know exactly how I'd pay for it" - lol.
I sold my 2020 MY two weeks ago and got a 2022 MYP. I’m impressed by the build quality and less noise in the cabin. I think you’ll enjoy your new MY🙂!
You still love Tesla though right Ryan!
Hoping your 2022 Model Y will be amazing and treat you good!
How about the PPF cost? Everyone wanting to spend thousands to protect the paint on a car they sell in 2 years.
Congratulations on your purchase. Glad to see you got your model y long range from Austin. When did you order your long range model y?
@@helicopterjohns Ordered in Sep but dinked around for a month deciding whether to go with trade or cash. FYI, I live in the Austin area.
Congrats!... mine should also come in September-October ... can't wait!
2 questions:
1. will you ever go back to gas cars?
2. will you own/keep your teslas after the 4 year warranty is up?
hoping to here your thoughts on those, great video by the way!

That’s the car buying experience at Tesla.
thank you for being transparent
You have extreme patience. I would never be able to own a Tesla with all the quality issues.
Me loving videos of Teslas while I drive a 1988 Toyota Corolla lol
I ordered FSD with my CyberTruck. It was to be $7k. But I am not sure if Tesla will ever be able to take out all the bugs out of the FSD with the current architecture. I watched MobilEye's "unedited" drive in Jerusalem. It was very impressive. It will be an interesting 2-3 years when all these companies compete with their autonomous driving solutions.
You mentioned that you were going to try to pick up a model Y from Texas but I thought that you lived in California. Is that an option for people from the West Coast to pick up a car from Texas?
Don’t they bring them down from Texas to California and all over.
I think Texas serves the eastern 2/3 of the United States as far as I understand…
Good luck on new ventures.
Tesla enthusiasts talk about sustainability but then buy a new Tesla every year, not very sustainable.
I love how you aligned your short tesla y biography lol it gives me god tier youtube video vibes
It’s like finally breaking up from an exciting but train-wreck relationship. Onward and upwards!
Are you kidding me? With all those problems, I'm surprised you're still calm lol...
Hopefully after selling of your model Y, your experience with Tesla will get better, at least not much fixing required.
what company did you sell it to? I'm looking to sell mine.
Check out car buyer USA... But I doubt if that's who he used
Outstanding recap of your car history, the costs, the income, and the overall experience. That car sure had an interesting "childhood." The new owner, if they can learn who it's original owner was, will have a well documented history. That increases the value by itself, CARFAX on steroids!
It’s proven that people with red paint have a higher probability of a rear end.
Man, I can't imagine what the Carfax report must look like for this car 😂
Man, you’ve had a lot of accidents! I know Turo contributed but still!
Safety score-98?
Which compony did you sell your Model Y ???? Any recommendations ?
Thank you for All your videos I love it.
Thank you Ryan, my wife and i are saving up for a model Y and we got a lot of great info from your video!
Hi, great video which car company bought back your tesla? thats an incredible deal
(Keep in mind all OEM’s would have taken this opportunity to get out of the warranty repair, upgrade/modification to origin OEM design, license to steal).
lol, sold the Model Y after 2 years. The first model Y only hit our shores in Australia a couple months ago, we are a long way behind.
Now this Model Y became a collectible as it was Ryan’s cursed Model Y!😊
At the current price range (2022) would you still recommend a Tesla? new or used?
Because it’s been crashed into more times than a demolition derby car !
Was gonna say the same thing lmao
Lol hilarious, but true.
True that! That car has been through hell and back😂😂😂
Lmao
I have a new PMY on order, CarGuru has offered me $64,159 for my 2020 LR AWD Y, my new PMY lists for $67,990. It was a no brainer given all the improvements found on the new Y. Am hoping I get the new door panels and real laminated glass.
That's why You never buy the first year of production of any new model car, no matter the Brand !
2 people hit him and he replaced his suspensions which caused his alignment to mess up the drive train. He’s had 1 of the worst lucks I’ve ever seen
I guess this Turo thing can be a good idea to earn money when you don't use your car, but it probably does not help to avoid stuff getting damaged.
Very informative video! Have a long range Model Y on order. Supposed to receive it Nov 22-Jan 23. Our first electric car.
Sad that the effort of renting on Turo was a wash! (Really a loss, because of cleaning and time/stress trying to make repairs)
Maybe I missed it in the video but what private company did you use to sell it?
He did not say.
Thank you for sharing and the transparency. I have a long range model Y 7 seater hopefully coming out of Texas in November. I’m an hour south of the factory.
Is Tesla Crazy increasing the price every month or so
CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!
What company did you use to sell your car? Thinking of selling mine and been getting lowballed.
Only damage is some Road Rash on one Induction wheel. 🙏🏻🙏🏻😔
Great video. What company did you use to sell the car? Selling ours soon. Thanks
Love your videos. Keep up the good work
@4:42 looks like the Walnut, CA service center.
Good Honest video- thanks!
Pick up my new MYP tomorrow!
I was supposed to pick up today. Had a scheduled appointment they ended up canceling on me and now I got wait.
What company did you sell it too if I may ask?
What a great transparent video. Thanks
used car market is good for all cars not just Teslas. i'm personally not ready for a 100% EV hence I sold my 2019 Honda Clarity PHEV for a 5k profit this year and got a XC90 Recharge extended range
Where did you sell your Tesla? I am looking to sell my model 3 currently and looking for a solid price.
Thank you!
What company did you use to sell your car?
Congratulation moving on from the not so good luck on your first Tesla!
Hi, Ryan! Longtime watcher, first time writing. What service did you sell your car to? Thanks for all the great videos!
I asked the same question... but no response.
He makes greats videos, but I wonder if he reads the comments 🤔
Wow da paint issues coming with this crazy , among other issues ya mentioned but got fixed .
Wow…great chronicling . Very well done.
Appreciate your video Ryan! Great content! I had a Honda Accord that I had to trade in because of accidents. It was red just your Model Y.
May I ask what site you used to sell your car? With the two accidents I’m surprised at the offer you were able to get considering carvana was only offering 38k for my m3lr 2021 with one not at fault accident and the repair was only 1500….
Would love to know which company purchased the car as well
Agreed, selling my 2020 Model X Performance Ludicrous plus!

Don’t sell in carvana bro

i bought my wife an Acadia 2 years ago. She said she wanted the Model Y. So I bought her one last year. arrived in dec. 2021. when I drove it, i was in love with it. I always borrowed and gave my jeep the elbow. lol. anyways, we divorced so the model Y left with her. But, after driving it, i am not buying myself any gas vehicle. I wanted to step it up a notch, so waiting on My model S. delivery date oct-nov 2022 scheduled!

When did you ordered the new Model Y? I ordered in March and got delayed from December 2022, to March - June 2023...
This is the one with all the problems you had renting it out?
Lesson learned, never rent out to Turo!…😭😭😭
Quick question- would you recommend getting a 19 inch wheel instead of 20 on the Y
The comments I see most often on the 20" is that its a much firmer ride. I have the 19" and I love em. Longer range too.
Great content man. Thanks
Tesla needs a new model to replace model s. A new design or look is required to excite next generation of buyers
Content aside (which is great), I made the same hair transition over the last 2 years too! Same colouring too! I look like a Wish version of you!
What is your plan for getting a LR Y from Texas?
Great quality video as always!
Gotta do an ecoflow charging tesla vid
You did very well on your sale!
Ryan, thank you for videos. I’ve always learned so much, and really appreciate it. Like you, I ordered and took delivery of my Y in the same timeframe. Q: What company did you sell it to? Or, what list of companies did you shop it to? (Looking to sell mine as well). Thanks!
Waiting on this answer too!
What company did you use to sale the car Ryan?
Great recap Rayan. Thanks
This video makes me nervous to take delivery on my model Y 🤔
