I met him in Dublin in 1995, he was the nicest out of all the 20+ wrestlers I met that day. Him and Alundra Blaze.
2:25 go check Luger vs Yokozuna at Summerslam. Though the match and feud was forced as a replacement for Hogan vs Yokozuna, just watch and hear the crowd at Summerslam 1993 for Luger's match. The crowd loved it. No cell phones. Just purely classic WWF, with Luger having HUGE FAN SUPPORT no matter how they try to backtrack and say he wasn't good or popular. Check the WCW crowds in his matches. Luger could be heel or face and he ALWAYS got a reaction for over 10 years against Flair, Sting, Yoko, Hogan, Savage.... any effort to bury his decade career is just foolish. He was a great athlete and a dependable performer for over 10 years !

*What Brian says about Lex is something that I have heard many a times (and saw for myself at some of the shows). I used to be friends with someone who was in the wrestling business. (He passed away in february of this year, 2021.) He said that Lex was one of the absolutely worst people with whom he has been in the ring.*

Lex had an incredible physique though, one of the few guys with a Mr. Olympia level build, plus the torture rack was awesome

Lex luger tends to be underrated he really wasn't that bad of a worker or a person as people say. The negativity that surrounds him tends to be something that people join in on but not all of it tends to be true, or if it is it is an exaggerated version of it.
Lex was damm good. The thing is most wrestlers were jealous of lex. Bret hart cried backstage and Luger didnt win the belt at summerslam 1993. Then Bret cried again and inserted himself in the main event of wrestlemania.
Wrestling was great when it was about characters. Now it's only about working 30 mins matches and many moves.
Imo Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels ruined wrestling. Post that all vanilla midgets started thinking they work hard and they deserve the belt.
No matter what people think wrestling is at its worst phase. AEW and NXT are only for smarks. Smarks scream a lot of how great is AEW but nobody apart from smarks watch AEW.
Smarks have also affected WWE by hijacking shows and cheering for their 1 dimensional wrestlers.

Sting and Lex Luger were always two of my most favorite wrestlers. Sting had it all, the looks, charisma, and in ring ability. Lex Luger had a great look and it kept him up at the top his whole career. Looking back at his career today I'd have to say Luger was average when it came to charisma and in-ring ability. Nevertheless, I still consider him one of my favorites. One thing I really admire about Luger is his amazing development as a person over the years. Back in the day he had a big ego and not very personable, but today he's a very humble and friendly guy. He seems like a really down to earth person these days. Hopefully I get to meet him one day and have him sign my Big Gold belt.
3:20 - Shawn and Razor kept Jeff Jarrett and Shane/Dean Douglas from winning the IC title by deciding they would only lose to each other and Diesel. A gay three way for the butt buddy team called the Kliq.
Adam Bomb as IC champ in late 95 could have been pretty cool actually. WWF was in a down period in 1995 and no one really got across as a monster heel, even though there were a lot of dead end goofy "good guy" gimmicks. Royal Rumble 1995 is a huge let down for the time period. The 30 men Rumble was entirely jobber level comedic relief. Shawn won the Rumble in 38-minutes, which is nothing lol. Shawn was eliminated in five seconds by Ultimate Warrior. Screw HBK
I hate the mid-90s . I could never believe in Shawn as a Champ.
Bret Hart carried this company through the absolute shits of a period and people are super negative about him.
Sorry not trying to disparage Owen here, but…that’s not a rib - it’s sabotage. He was purposefully doing that to make Lex look like garbage: that’s not a good-natured prank between two buddys; it’s like a malicious co-worker setting you up to fail or appear bad at your job (usually in hopes to get you fired).
I got my theory on why Lex left for the WCW for pennies on the dollar - he was desperate to leave and go work with his legit boy Sting. Bret hated Luger (saw him as another Hogan and we know what he thought of him at the time) and probably utilized his younger bro and bro in-law to f with him and chase out of the company, I guarantee that shit, but they’d never admit to it, and Lex was probably embarrassed bout being..well bullied.
It was a house show, ribs happen all the time. Secondly Lex had a very bad attitude and told Owen to "make him look a star" after the match Owen said to Lex "You don't bump the wrestler, the wrestler bumps for you."
They did the entire Lex Express to make Lex the champion. Bret hart cried backstage and was supported by Patterson, Brisco and Prichard.
That led to Luger not winning the belt at Summerslam and even WrestleMania.
Well Bret was good with Luger on face but obviously hated him.
The Owen hart story is different. Lex refused to co operate in a few things like selling Owen more. That's why Owen ribbed him. I won't say Owens rib was funny, it was unprofessional. Luger did have attitude issues.
But Lex was definitely screwed.
