Fun Fact: I got into a match against Masae and Chatia playing splatoon 3 yesterday. I saw "Chatia" and went "Heh, I'm playing against Jerod's wife" jokingly.....then I splatted Masae and the realization was "OH! I AM playing with the ACTUAL Chatia"
@@theminiyosshi2901 Chatia and Masae won. I was with a bunch of randoms. I remember Masae had like 13 splats but the least amount of coverage on her team. May have snuck into their base for a bit (It was on inkblot art academy ) and caused trouble. It wasn't until the last 30 seconds I realized it was Chatia and Masae (because that was when I splatted Masae...she never got me I don't think)
I like how Stephen woke up basically near the end of the of the Twitch ads discussion causing the subject to VIOLENTLY change... almost makes him feel like a sleeper agent for Twitch... I'll head for the door now.
So Stephen stopped talking and must have fallen asleep at 34:50 and woke up again at 52:26. He missed the entirety of the Steam/Stream Deck convo and had a good ol' 18 minute nap at most.
27:37 Jarod's story reminds me of the first time I visited my fiancee's family in Wisconsin. Her mom comes from a very large family (9 aunts and uncles) and they will have "nice fights" such as arguing over who gets to pay the bill. We went out to breakfast with her mom, one of her aunts, and one of her uncles and his wife. Toward the end of the meal, her mom and uncle started arguing over who was going to cover it. Her mom, to the waiter: "When you bring the bill you can give it to me." Uncle: "No, no, we invited you all, we'll get the bill." Aunt: "Um, actually, I gave them my credit card when we walked in the door. So I got the bill."
Jon talking about the ADHD story writing thing, yup, thats what I do. I call it "brainfic" and I work on various stories in a half awake state until I actually sleep.
Extra Life Exhaustion is right! 3:36 Jon gave Dan fair warning about this sort of thing. That’s on Dan for trying to push this podcast and not taking these shenanigans into account. 6:18 Used Baby has the same energy as ex-Parrot. This was the first time I’d heard Sewist and the difference between that and a Seamstress from what I can find is that the former sews for any reason while the latter makes a profession out of it. 7:30 I hope Tim’s seen this footage of Stephen fighting the Welk as well as the Snaby. 13:20 Or just Aqua. KH Aqua, Konosuba Aqua, Aqua from Super Bomberman R, just Aqua. 16:50 I don’t know if it’s because of a curfew or if it was because it’s a school night or something else entirely, but Halloween this year was dead quiet after 10 PM. We had a lot of people going around our neighborhood from Saturday to Halloween proper, but 10 PM struck, and the streets were completely vacant. It was weird. 18:48 Guessing Stephen didn’t dress up for Halloween. 19:52 I thought that was Jerod trying to be clever. 24:33 Too bad this smartphone still has a lightning bolt connection. All that quality, and it still uploads at a snail’s pace. 27:22 My folks are super competitive over paying the bill when friends or other family are involved. Me? If I treat, I pay. If someone else treats, let them pay. If no one’s treating, we all pay for our own orders, adding in if someone couldn’t afford theirs. Cost of an order gets split if the food was shared beyond just sampling like if we order a basket of fries for instance and everyone gets some. Tax and Tip goes to anyone who volunteers, otherwise we try and split those too. 31:30 Don’t try to pin your half-baked plan on Jon, Tom. Own up to it like a man. That sort of thing only works in a food line or some sort of fast food place, whether there’s a cashier at some point before you sit down and eat your food or take it out. No way you can be discreet about that after everyone’s orders have been taken unless you’ve made a reservation and have you footing the bill as a conditional. 35:00 As I’ve been corrected on, flip phones are still commonplace in Japan, so whatever models they’re getting and using, probably worth giving that a try. They’re as much glass as the (3)DS screens are glass i.e. they’re not really glass. 44:45 Between that, the ad revenue split, ads being played to people who are subbed, and the apparent unfriendliness towards Vtubers versus people who break Twitch TOS and get away with it, yeah I can see why people are jumping from Twitch to TH-cam more regularly like Masae and Jerod, and even then it ain’t much better in terms of how many ads and pre-rolls there are on TH-cam. Speaking of, it seems like Twitch got rid of the ability to subscribe directly to Twitch to circumvent getting ads at all on any stream. Was looking to use a Prime Sub on that a little while ago, and I can’t seem to find it at the bottom of the home page as was mentioned at some point on this podcast or by someone on it. 52:16 Arise, Grandpa. 1:06:35 Low Pass. 1:07:26 What if it’s meant to be like that though like the outdoor section of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World’s fifth stage (or is it the sixth one? I always forget if Nega Scott or the Twins come first)? Or the Galar Gym Leader theme but it’s one of those “what living near a Pokémon Gym is like” videos? 1:08:12 Before bed, though not always right before if I was working out earlier in the day. The only time I’ll shower in the morning is if I was too tired to do so the night before. Otherwise I’m like Jerod: I prefer going to bed feeling clean. 1:10:42 Depends on where you’re showering and the size of the shower or tub you’re in. 1:13:12 I just lie there listening in the dark or playing something and then usually get tired enough to just fall asleep. I think for Tom’s case he might just try staying awake instead per one of Jules’s streams. The idea is that you tire yourself in trying to stay awake and that’s when you “give up” and fall asleep, and it works for some people. The only examples I can think of are rather childish/cartoonish, one of them being the opening of Luigi’s Mansion 3 where Luigi after being asleep on the bus opens his book to read after getting comfy in his hotel room and then falls asleep immediately and a story in Blues’s Clues that Steve tells about this one baby chick who wants to stay up. The only thing I remember about that story is the chick saying variations of “I’m not tired” as they progressively got more tired in trying to stay awake. Conversely, you have that parody of a children’s storybook, the one that Samuel L. Jackson did an audiobook for because of all the f-bombs in it, and the kid there can’t ever stay asleep because the parent is trying to force them to sleep and the kid takes that as a challenge which they win time and time again. Forcing something isn’t always the solution. 1:31:45 Does this mean Jon can roll a 17? Does this mean that Emile can relive his teenage crush years? 1:33:00 With Stephen on call or a Guest in his place. That or this would be his first MAGFest.
16:52 Everyone else I've talked to was like "Man, we got like no Trick-or-Treaters this year. :(" meanwhile my family hasn't got this many since the 90s.
I can commiserate on the problems of trying to fall asleep. my dad and I have talked about the problem. I think the main things to do are try to find something to settle your brain down before you go to sleep, and consistency.
I kinda do what Jon does, too; daydreaming and thinking up a story helps to exhaust an overactive mind. It’s not maladaptive daydreaming, either; I can’t speak for Jon, but my daydreaming has never had literally stop what I was doing. If anything, I’ve used daydreams to analyze and confront my inner demons. I even talked to a therapist about it, and she saw nothing wrong with it. That being said, electronics can help people keep awake because of the amount of information being shoved into your brain. Now obviously, that’s not absolute, as shown with Steven during the podcast, but for some people, it’s why they have irregular sleep schedules, or have trouble getting to sleep right after turning off electronics; it’s because they need to spend half an hour to an hour doing something not related to electronics to calm down mentally, and maybe have a set time where they turn off electronics each day.
1:14:15 So, here's what I do. I just play music while in the shower but I'm safe by having my phone near the bathroom sink with the faucet off. So by the time I'm out of the shower, either A. The song's still playing or B it already ended 🤣
I love and feel slightly called out by the chugg comment. I fall asleep to him, Tom, Luka and John let's plays. Also glad to know that I am not the only one that would just create a story to fall asleep. I do that if the let's plays don't work (1/4 of the time)
It’s one thing to fall asleep listening to Emile yelling or screaming through a mic and after editing’s been done. It’s another thing to do so when you’re in the same room as him and only a few feet away at most (at least? Not sure if they practice social distancing during their in-person recordings now).
On folding phones: folding screen bad. My mom went through I think 3 of them in less than a year (2 from wear and tear, one from a single cat nibble) before she gave up on them.

Stephen Georg. The man who writes a book on himself and talks about showering in said book.

Not even half.

A lot of ADHD or Autistic people have found that the basic "sleep hygeine" rules do NOT work for us, and trying to follow them makes things worse.
