We're still friend to this day & keep in touch. After we graduated high school in 1969, Paul was drafted in 1970 into the U.S Army even though he wasn't a citizen & immediately stationed in Vietnam for a tour of combat duty. Uhhh, I was being sarcastic. Shipley was talking with someone that sounded a little scattered. I talk with people like this all the time. They are incapable of carrying on a conversation because they can't, won't or lack the social ability to LISTEN so they tromp over anyone trying to interview them, giving disjointed and incomplete answers to only partially asked questions that they don't fully understand, along with a helping of irrelevant information. The situation is only exacerbated when they are speaking on the telephone. Mr. Vincenti sounds like he is a little forgetful and perhaps hard of hearing, and a rambling talker, which isn't uncommon for people in their 70s who suddenly feel like they've made a connection. Also, a lot of people who have spoken English as a second language for decades can suddenly start to struggle a bit with it past a certain age, further adding to the communication problem. Chief Shipley could have exercised more patience in teasing out the information required...but then as he mentions, perhaps it really was a long weekend and he was just tired himself. He did get a bit more respectful after he confirmed Mr. Vicenti's bona fides.

@@catch-2259 There are only 10 six person seal teams at a time and they last for several years together. As the son of a 27 yr Army veteran, nephew of a 30 yr Navy veteran, 8 year Marine vet and 4 year coast guard vet, I appreciate all you Do Don. God speed.
Fantastic you were able to verify him. Can't imagine how he must of felt being doubted of his service. But he kept his head up, and plowed through the language barrier
It's pretty interesting listening to a legit Navy Seal frustrate the hell out of another Navy Seal. He just about drove Don up the wall with his last name. Made sure to be one class off to add difficulty to Don's life as well.
Honestly it was the other guy and Dons own fault he became so frustrated. The guy accusing him of being a fake seal fucked it up at first and then later on in the video where Don was talking to the Italian guy he asked him to spell his last name, He started to spell it and Don mistook him to be spelling his first name which frustrated Don and he said he didn't care about his first name to just spell his last but he was actually spelling his last name. Don being impatient and the other guy at the beginning of the call is what caused that whole debacle
Id love to see more vids like this where senior chief verifies a real seal for a change. Its cool to see the smile pop on seniors face when he realizes the guy on the other end of the line is legit and the nice brotherly convo that proceeds afterwards..very cool Don
One of the few times I've seen Mr Shipley go from "you're full of Bull" To " You are the man ". Bonified. Had that soldier of fortune magazine. Thanks for y'alls service.
I appreciate the time you put into this important task of weeding out the phony liars. When you find someone who is lying you call them out. I’ve often wondered what percentage of checks you run are real vs. fake?
Had to watch this video again, two years later. Always impressed with Don and his interaction with people, especially with a fellow warrior seal. I never was one myself, but I sure do cherish America’s warriors.
That is absolutely awesome. It’s so satisfying and heartwarming to confirm a legitimate seal. I can see how people may have questioned his legitimacy because of his language barrier , but that is so cool to prove his story legit. God bless you Mr. Shipley and thank you!
Expecting to see another fake seal demolition only to find out he's legit was way better than watching you destroy a fake... I'd love to see more of these...
The Italian guy seems like a solid seal... Able to control his temper and make the guy buy drinks for the bar instead of knocking him out. Emotional flexibility and social dynamics
Don ur face when u realized he was actually a Seal is priceless lol. I bet that rarely happens so I can understand ur skepticism. Keep up the great work.👍🏻
Don when you get stern I get some serious flashbacks of my dad who was a salty retired Gunny, it's half the reason I watch, the other half is your dedication keep it up sir and thank you.
I admittedly clicked on Shipley's video automatically without reading the title. Former bud/s dud here and I lived in L'Italia for several years... Just listening to him; based on a few knowledgably tid-bits I was convinced he was legit immediately. Thank you Shipley for, not only taking the time, but rationalizing a bunch of different variables and being human. I've ran into fake Seals and I've ran into real ones... It's actually easy to recognize legitimacy if you've been involved and hard for others (even with the internet). Thank you for what you do. I'm a bit different; I make the bad ones aware that it's bad Juju to claim something you are not and know nothing about. I have not met a person yet that doesn't catch my hint or I would have sent their name in. Some people just wish they are looked upon by people as more than they are... it's human nature... I wished I was Aquaman but before that my parents told me I can be anything I want to be and I wanted to be a dolphin. As I got older and reality set in Aquaman and Navy SEAL was still on the table. I'm thankful I at least attempted but I hope people understand - find a way to be you and give credit to those that put in the work and endured the pain to become something you idolize. Attempt to carry those characteristics you want people to recognize in you that are similar to your perfect you. Please do not tarnish their sacrifices by stealing their valor you did not earn. It's called respect. And disrespect is bad karma looking straight at you. LOL, buon karma persone!
How cool is that! I am glad Don that you were able to clear up the confusion. And I appreciate your passion for doing the right thing and for your patience.
Quite refreshing! When asked about people in his class, he knew several names, knew that one person died and asked for the contact details of another, hoping that he would still be alive. Normally they can't name one single person in their class and they usually get the dates wrong. Such a cool and relaxed guy!
I can see why the guy is having trouble remembering some of the details, it was 50 freaking years ago! Like many people here, I also never knew non-US Citizens could join the Armed Forces and retire, never having become a Citizen. Love his story and appreciate his service!
I’m a British citizen and went into the US Army in 2009. Ex wife and my kids are American and I had my green card and joined. Was another two guys from England in basic at fort lenordwood. One guy from South Korea get his citizenship just after basic. Was another guy from India who was to be a medic. I was 88M as couldn’t do any mos that needed security clearance. Other guy from England he already had his US citizenship and he was able to be signals as he got his security clearance etc. we live back in the UK now but it was a great experience.
That was a surprise for sure! Dude is legit AF and even had his picture on the front cover of soldier of fortune. Dayum! With that language barrier I am guessing he mentioned being in the Navy, the guy probed further and he mentioned SEAL Teams and young buck called you up hoping to get a bust of his own but got an education instead! Excellent! Would love to see more "oh shit, you're legit sir" videos. We just found out that language barrier + loud Bar = Damn hard time even if you are legit. haha!
How about them apples, I want to see the whole bars faces when Don says he's legit, naming off the badasses that Don knows and being on the cover of soldier of Fortune. Don pretty much knew right after he said 7101 and immediately became respectful, cool to see.
10:29 We currently live in Fort Pierce. The reason why he said he goes to Fort Pierce is because on the barrier island is the Navy Seal Museum. Each year the the Seals have a muster. 💪. Don. I’m sure you have been to Fort Pierce. You’re always welcome to stay with us when in town.
About time you got a real one - nice ending. Thanks for you're service, Don. I don't just mean while in the service, but more what you and Dianne do to protect the hard earned honor of those who served from self-serving liars and thieves. Nobody's forcing you guys to do all this work but here you are, year after year just doing it. I know at times it must seem like fighting a swarm of bees with a peashooter, but it is appreciated, especially by those of us who had family serve and die. My hat's off to you, sir.
This was great! The frustrated looks at the camera because of the language barrier, then the awesome surprise for all of us to see the confirmation if a legit SEAL. Thanks Mr. Shipley!
No one admits to being a National Guard infantryman back in the 80’s. Or a light wheel mechanic. I sit at the VA and meet all the Ranger, Delta , Seal and Marine Recon all day. Everyone fought and have Purple Heart 💜 or two or five. After 11 years going to the VA three times a month I met one guy was a carpenter in the Army , injured when a garage fell on him. And one Air Force guy that drove a forklift . Everyone else has sealed records
I have encountered the same issues you mentioned. I am a Vietnam vet, serving as FN and clerk on an aircraft carrier in Yankee Station. I joined the Navy to enter the CB's to learn a trade and kill commies, but the military sends people where they are needed.
Nice you were able to connect with the vet, with age, our memories slip and someone who can help us remember courses and people with served with is a great thing. Cheers
Great seeing a legit verification. Although at 2:43 when he said “I am still alive” I almost lost it. Mad respect to all SEALs. They are some of the true heroes of our country. From former 0911 USMC

"No sir, I'm not doing that again" LMFAO. Thank you, Mr Shipley. I love seeing your videos, ESPECIALLY ones with a good ending. I wish there were more of those, quite honestly. I want to edit my comment after watching the last minute of this video. THAT IS BAD-FUCKING-ASS I would love to sit down with that guy and ask many more questions than he'd be inclined to answer. @@jimclemente6546 There are about 2500 active SEAL's at any one time...don't think you can know everyone.
@@catch-2259 There are only 10 six person seal teams at a time and they last for several years together. He was the east coast and Don was west coast, but being on the cover of soldier of fortune made him semi-famous becomes everybody thought that was Robert DeNiro in the Deerhunter. My uncle was serving in the Navy and absolutely knew who he was.
@@catch-2259 with all the support staff, it probably makes 2,500. I used to do all the home purchases for the Seals in Coronado and there were a ton of support and legal personnel.
@@jimclemente6546 I see. Every organization needs support staffs. That cover does look a lot like DeNiro. They are both Italian.
I bet this guy had a hell of a time going through in '71... I can only imagine his English is a bit better now. I bet he had to work even a tad more with that barrier. Thanks for what you do, Mr. Shipley 🙏🥃
I bet he understands the word push-ups
@@hanktrill1498 lol had me laughing pretty good on that one

What if he was actually a native English speaker but pretended to not speak it so that he could try and get away with things? 300IQ play

I laughed pretty hard at that too.
When I was with the Royal Marines I said it sounds like they’re speaking English but, I can’t understand what they’re talking about…
It’s definitely refreshing to see the pride and admiration on his face when he discovers the legitimacy of a real individual’s claims. ❤
Holy shit the soldier fortune picture is badass
Scary. 🇬🇧👍🤣😂
As the son of a 27 yr Army veteran, nephew of a 30 yr Navy veteran, 8 year Marine vet and 4 year coast guard vet, I appreciate all you Do Don. God speed.

This was absolutely awesome, Thank you Don for hanging in there with him. Amazing
Thank you for your service
This video almost made me shed man tears. Great work, Don and thank you and Mr. Vincenti for your service.
Yeah, this was real touching.
That’s great Don he was so happy that you were able to verify him. Well done Senior Chief.
Well this one took an unpredictable turn for the better. 👍
At this point, I have patience with Don’s impatience.
Id love to see more vids like this where senior chief verifies a real seal for a change. Its cool to see the smile pop on seniors face when he realizes the guy on the other end of the line is legit and the nice brotherly convo that proceeds afterwards..very cool Don
Nobody *NOBODY* on Earth can overtalk like an Italian. 🤣
I might give them a run for their money after I have a few too many drinks.
You have the patience of a saint. I thought this would not go well, but you hung in there and verified a real Seal. Great job. Have a drink.
Lol what? No he doesn’t.
NICE to see a REAL SEAL. Respect. X Good Job Don.
Awesome! That guy was a waiter in the Navy. He overcame that and the language barrier. A true Patriot! God bless him.
One of the few times I've seen Mr Shipley go from "you're full of Bull" To " You are the man ". Bonified. Had that soldier of fortune magazine. Thanks for y'alls service.
God bless Mr. Vincenti, glad he got his honor. Happy to watch this one.
Both of You, Thank You for your service!!
That is absolutely awesome. It’s so satisfying and heartwarming to confirm a legitimate seal. I can see how people may have questioned his legitimacy because of his language barrier
, but that is so cool to prove his story legit. God bless you Mr. Shipley and thank you!
I love how his demeanor changed when he verified him. The respect his showed us wonderful.
Expecting to see another fake seal demolition only to find out he's legit was way better than watching you destroy a fake... I'd love to see more of these...
I’ve watched this video half a dozen times and i still get a little lump in my throat. Thanks y’all!!
Plot twist: The guy who doubted the legit SEAL's story was knocked out within seconds of this call ending.
The Italian guy seems like a solid seal... Able to control his temper and make the guy buy drinks for the bar instead of knocking him out. Emotional flexibility and social dynamics
@@jordanbell4736that’s impressive for an Italian!!! I’m part Italian and we have some short fuses at times
🤣🤣🤣
I might like conversations that go this way even more than the fake SEALs. Seein that big ol Senior Chief smile warmed my heart.
This is Badass!!! I love a legit find! And .. as a 3rd Generation American who comes from Italians, this guy is a Bonus!
I can see why the guy is having trouble remembering some of the details, it was 50 freaking years ago! Like many people here, I also never knew non-US Citizens could join the Armed Forces and retire, never having become a Citizen. Love his story and appreciate his service!
Sorry for the late reply. Sad fact that the USCIS even deports some of them after their discharge.
We just found out that language barrier + loud Bar = Damn hard time even if you are legit. haha!
It’s a breath of fresh air anytime someone does end up being a seal and hearing them talk about the guys ❤
How about them apples, I want to see the whole bars faces when Don says he's legit, naming off the badasses that Don knows and being on the cover of soldier of Fortune. Don pretty much knew right after he said 7101 and immediately became respectful, cool to see.
refreshing to see an honest man...
👏👏👏👏👏✌️ Thankyou for your service sir ✌️
Awesome to finally see one of these fellas on here! The real deal.
As soon as I seen the guys face I knew he was a REAL SEAL just something about his face it was honest and open.
Easy to out the fakes, you ask the right questions they fold like a cheap suit.
Yes sir they do !!
I have encountered the same issues you mentioned. I am a Vietnam vet, serving as FN and clerk on an aircraft carrier in Yankee Station. I joined the Navy to enter the CB's to learn a trade and kill commies, but the military sends people where they are needed.
Fuckin A Brother, always have said if folks want to be cool they'd be saying they was Army Infantry, some cases Marine Infantry (never NG)

I remember that Soldier of Fortune mag I always assumed it was Robert DeNiro from The Deer Hunter movie. Crazy. That magazine is still laying around somewhere in my dads house where I grew up. Wow what a blast from the past that was.
