I didn't realize you could pet or ride the whales, that's so cool! As for the aquarium module for the sea truck, maybe you could use it to breed or store fish that provide oxygen/water (and of course for food) so you could take some with you easily on expeditions? Not sure how that works in this game, it's been quite a while since I played Subnautica OR the DLC.
