This joker is absolutely nasty. The amount of detail with the scars, filthy hair, and grimy fingers give such a different look. One that can’t even take care of himself and neglects his own appearance. Really excited for this joker.

Agreed. Love the fact of how freakishly mutilated he is. Fun fan theory - He did it himself, The Joker was a self- taught street chemist and rising drug baron who made SmileX - a drug he designed him self. I’m hoping this is the role of the Joker in this trilogy. The criminal angle Batman uses in his cases instead of being one of the villains himself. That way, we can still get this new Joker while getting new villains
They could do a lot with it. Have a second movie where joker is helping him then at the end he breaks out of Arkham becoming the villian of the third movie.
This really works as a deleted scene. You can appreciate what the Joker was getting at because you've seen the movie (presumably). If this was included, it would have been too on the nose. It shows how capable the Joker is, and it's exciting if he's in the next one :)

HOW DID JOKER SOLVE RIDDLER'S MOTIVE? A person becomes a serial killer because of bullying, disowned by society, corruption, family issues, religion, being cheated on & trauma of a horrific incident ! Joker has been through some of those stuff & understands what makes one a vigilant serial killer. Also the Arkham Hospital/ asylum had TV's outside every cell. Joker knew The Riddler loves putting people in traps & his victims are corrupt politicians ,officers & Commissioners. Riddler wasn't a pycho killing random people. He had motives & had put efforts in his traps and riddles. THEREFORE A PERSONAL VENDETTA !
Best part is the context isn’t out of place. Everything you need to know about their history and relationship is put out there in a way that makes sense for the story, Matt Reeves is incredible.
Robert Pattinson and Barry keoghan’s chemistry of Batman and joker would be the darkest intense adaptation, as it’s feeling like a chemistry of Batman and the joker from the Arkham games.
Jokers design in this film gave me heath ledger vibes, and that laugh is absolutely amazing! Barry Keoghan definitely knocked it out of the park with his fantastic performance!
I’d love if they kept joker a side character like this throughout the trilogy and we only see him in moments like this where he’s just off to the side or does little cameos being locked up , or even have him be mostly in the Arkham spin-off show their doing for this universe. But by the end of the main trilogy have him escape or something showing he’ll become the official crime lord we all know & love.
It would be cool to eventually have a War of Jokes and Riddles movie where Riddler and Joker escape Arkham and after a disagreement they are both terrorizing the city in competition with each other.
@@EskimoKillaz that would be a cool storyline to see in the Arkham show their doing. Maybe see joker b an influence on other big baddies from Batman’s villain gallery and how he operates crime from behind bars only to eventually escape
Love the Manhunter vibes. He is perfectly capable of playing this take on Joker. The director was correct to have taken it out but I’m grateful we can see it as a clip.

So for the real Crime Nerds like myself: this is similar to not only the Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal Lector assisting to catch Buffalo Bill but Ted Bundy also cooperated with the FBI to catch the Green River Killer. Matt Reeves is a beast for this scene 👏🏼👏🏼

chills. The way Reeves doesn't reveal his face until that little bit in the end where you can see his mouth is genius, along with the sinister interpretation by Barry thanks to the script, gives the scene such tension and build up. So dark, I'm here for it.
I'd never thought I'd see a version of the joker that would genuinely surprise me. But this version feels frighteningly real. This feels like and individual who is a genuine psychopath as opposed to becoming a psychopath through systematic abuse, a horrible accident, or as an answer from a lower social class against the elitist society
You can still be a geniune psychopath through abuse. Lately, I've started seeing people's true colors and seemingly how Ledger's Joker wasn't as "real."
Needless to say Keoghan nailed this take on Joker. But the editing and positioning of each shot is absolutely masterful. There is nothing about the production that couldn’t be waxed lyrical about from the sound design, the score, the make up, the set/costume design. All within a single room, two actors and 5 minutes. This is truly a Batman graphic novel brought to life. Matt Reeves can direct two Batman trilogies for me. It will go down as the definitive Batman film series.
Hot take: I’m glad they cut this scene so it didn’t overshadow the riddler. Or spoil the ending, by telling us the riddler is a fan. Still love this version of the joker and I’m excited for the sequel.
This scene is interesting because it feels a lot clearer that this is The Joker you can see the smile and green hair where as the theatrical scene it was more mysterious and a lot of people got a two face vibe.
Honestly the Batman villains in this universe so far (riddler, penguin and joker) are actually amazing. They aren't comical and jokey like in previous adaptations, they all appear seriously dark and disturbed. Can't wait for what else Matt Reeves has in store.
This may possibly be the darkest and smartest Joker we’ve seen to date. And that’s saying a lot considering this scene was five minutes, and 90% of it he was out of focus from the window. Absolutely incredible.
I’d say Ledgers joker is still the smartest, but that comes from a tactical angle. Keoghan nails the aspect of Joker that understands how to torment people psychologically along with physically. He’s already shown how he can tweak a conversation and quickly anger Batman
This scene is so PERFECT… The way we know Batsman’s not the greatest detective yet that he’s pulling information and studying from the Joker. How CRAZY yet GENIUS the Joker is… And now we physically see the wounds from chemical poisoning. Just the connection these two have where the Joker just jumps from friend, to teacher, to almost Sith like trying to get Batman to break. It’s a blessing we have this!!!
Apparently, this Joker was born with that condition. He's always been forced to smile because of it and since day 1, everyone had viewed him as a freak...eventually he embraces it. Matt Reeves explains it in an interview- u should check it out
If you look closely, when Batman hands over the file to joker, the file had 3 paper clips and when the joker gives him back the file, only 2 paper clips are seen 🖇️.
Love this scene and I’m excited to see more but I’m glad they took it out of the movie. Joker is one of my all time favorite villains but it’s time that other villains got the spotlight they so deserve. This movie’s interpretation of the riddler is probably one of my favorites so far ❤️
While this scene makes sense, especially with the movies ending, it was smart to cut it. It makes it more meaningful when Batman realizes that he can't just be, "Vengeance," and needs to instill hope, not just fear.
@@agaheat1619 wrong, gotham needed the batman, because gotham lost hope. They're morale boost as as soon as batman existed. in the comics we was also defined as Hope
Keoghan's Joker looks like he doesn't care about his appearance unlike Leto and Phoenix, so it's possible he might peel his face off and make it a mask like Batman and Riddler lol.
Perhaps matt reeves took inspiration from Scott Snyder's run on Batman(New 52) that's the Joker who peeled his own face off plus the shaved look with patches of green hair definitely a darker look for Joker like that version was
Yea and it basically tells you the riddler could be writing to him because hes a fan or thinks hes on the same side. it kinda takes away from riddlers moment.
This scene seems like it would've fit perfectly into the film right after Alfred is hospitalized , showing just how desperate he really is to stopping the riddler.
I’m getting Hannibal Lecter vibes from Keoghan. A criminal genius that loves to toy with a Detectives Patience while somewhat enjoying working with him to solve a crime. Kudos to Barry for being the scariest Joker I’ve ever seen.
The vibe I’m getting with the music and the unsettling atmosphere is that of not Silence of the lambs but the Will Graham / Hannibal Lector interrogation scene in Manhunter. That scene is just wonderfully directed, reason say this is cause at the end when Batman is trying to leave Joker still taunts him about how Batman thinks they deserve this. Kinda blocked similarly as the scene with Will Graham leaving.
@@07foxmulder no, he’s referring to the characters at play. Clarice has a different dynamic with Hannibal than Will. Batman’s dynamic more closely resembles the latter.

Love how while Joker says the Riddler’s been planning this his whole life, you can almost hear him putting the whole scheme together like it’s easy for him
Amazes me how different actors can take on the same characters and each give them a personal spin. You can't really compare Leadger's joker, to Phoenix's or this one. They are all different and awesome on their own right
He is insane, he knows how to get into Batman’s head, he deduced the Riddler’s motives in a few minutes, and he is scary. All the ingredients needed to make a perfect Joker.
The scene where the joker laughs is just so horrifying. The scars are a lot more severe and the blackened out teeth make the appearance of this version of the Joker a lot more scarier. Barry keoghan,s Joker seem to be combination of Heath ledger,s, Cameron Monaghan’s and maybe Jack Nicholson,s Joker. This makes me even more hyped for the sequel!
Truly incredible! In this small scene you can already feel the relationship between Joker and Batman. You can tell that Joker believes that him and Batman are friends, like how he feels in the comics. And, you can hear the desperation in his voice as he stops him when he try’s to leave. You get a sense of what Barry’s interpretation of the character will be like, he’s definitely going to be the most deranged version of the joker. And might just turn out to be the best.
Joker being able to understand who the riddler is just by the case file is amazing, it really shows how Joker is able to manipulate people because he can read them so well
Honestly it would be more interesting and unique if they kept this kind of dynamic between Batman and Joker in the next movie while having someone else be the main villain.
See this is the perfect role for the Joker in this iteration. We’ve seen The Dark Knight already…the idea of the Joker as a Hannibal Lector like figure with whom Batman consults to catch other villains is a great angle.
That’s the best angle to take this in later films. Just have him be apart of the framework of the plot, but not have him be the main antagonist. Great way to freshen up that characters portrayal, and it’s been executed extremely well in the past, ala Silence of the Lambs

There isn't even a slight hint of Jack Nicholson's Joker in this
there's a whole lot of ledger's joker in the appearance and mannerism, but that menace is all his own.
Looks like a cosplaying dork
Laugh was eh
@@scturnn the laugh was perfect
this 5 minute deleted scene is already better than Jared Leto's entire Joker career
Nah you meatriding now
@@imshmacked6162 uhh not really.
Doesn’t Jared Leto only have like 8 min total of him being Joker?
No disrespect, but you don’t know what you’re talking about bro.
They are both really bad jokers let's be honest
Truly incredible! In this small scene you can already feel the relationship between Joker and Batman. You can tell that Joker believes that him and Batman are friends, like how he feels in the comics. And, you can hear the desperation in his voice as he stops him when he try’s to leave. You get a sense of what Barry’s interpretation of the character will be like, he’s definitely going to be the most deranged version of the joker. And might just turn out to be the best.
is that u barry?
Hopefully he’s a more sadistic version of the tell tale joker
@@antpain1156 No way other Barry. I'm over here.
Lmao no
If you think he'd EVER top or come close to Ledger then ur mom smoked crack while she had u in her stomach
I just finished the final episode of The Penguin. Mygoodness I CANNOT WAIT to see how they handle The Joker !!
Joker being able to understand who the riddler is just by the case file is amazing, it really shows how Joker is able to manipulate people because he can read them so well
He's not real you know ?

@@citizencj3389 Yup, that’s why he was teasing Batman. Not only to fluster him, but provide a distraction for the swipe! Shows how green he still is.
sneaky little joker
Honestly it would be more interesting and unique if they kept this kind of dynamic between Batman and Joker in the next movie while having someone else be the main villain.
totally.
Yeah like in red dragon with hannibal lector and will graham
Some Silence of the Lambs vibes? I’m in..
Exactly
Joker is definitely not the main villain imo, he'll team up
OMG, didn't even know this scene existed! This movie only gets better and better! Awesome Joker, so creepy 😮
@@chromeviper5273 who said Batman caught this joker? He could have been caught by the police. This joker seems to be less strategic and coordinated like Heath Legders joker and more disturbed. Still very smart but probably taking more risks and not being as precise/strategic as heath ledgers joker
@@chromeviper5273 What are you talking about? How does Batman beating the Joker in his first year unbelievable at all? It makes perfect sense, you clearly don’t know these characters at all.
Your forgetting Jack Nicholson
@@Ace-nk8ht Matt Reeves said that Batman caught this joker.
Every about this seems great so far. He looks and sounds both intimidating and creepy and you kinda get the sense that he and Batman have this weird slight respect for one another.
@@chromeviper5273 if he came to the joker he had to respect him enough to share this. he knows the joker is smart
@@chromeviper5273 wrong
People who have read the comics understand this relationship better than anyone
excuse my vulgar language
The fact that this batman has run out of options and had to rely on joker is amazing. A batman with very little experience.
It also lays the foundation for the relationship that will drive them for life.
The mindhunter/Batman crossover we needed. This horrible grungey Gotham is fantastic.
Damn, that’s not a bad rendition of the Joker. Creepy, mysterious, yet both “intelligent” and insane. They should’ve kept this in the film.
Might haven't due to time constraints or to keep the ending scene a surprise reveal.
Nah it would’ve been unnecessary and hurt the pacing. The scene with him they melt in was already too long.
Nah he would’ve taken riddlers flame when Batman interrogated riddler Matt reeves said it an interview and he is right
No it would have stole the spotlight from riddler and falcone
@AKA Im Brandon yes it would of. A lot of what joker says is basically redundant because riddler also says it
This Joker iteration is really horrifying and fascinating. Hopefully we'll see him more in the sequel
Yeah, he seems possessed.
@@monetpetals86 this apparently takes place just weeks after he fell into the chemicals which is why his hair is still falling out and his skin is so wrinkled and decaying

It’s kind of funny to say that in the span of 5 minutes this joker is automatically 1000% times better than Jared Leto’s joker.
If you say "%" you don't need the word "times". And vice versa. Just for future reference.
Jared Leto is a great actor, it's the material that was bad.
@@medric38 nah he's acting was actually bad, don't lie
@@comicreaper7139 Nah hes a great actor. Just got a shitty script
@@pax_sxprano to be joker you need to be a world class best of the best actor willing to put all your time and effort into the character, jared Leto basically pretended to be a bad man
This scene is fantastic. Much better than the joker's tiny cameo at end of the film.
Amazing how great joker is at being cunning and manipulative, really gets into your head leaving you confused and angry
Yeah in 5 minutes he completely dissects Riddler and Batman, and manages to get under Batman's skin. Its cool seeing the intelligence of the Joker rather than just the crazy side.
Yeah. Props to Jared Leto for reprising his role and finally nailing the Joker down
*Whoopsies! BWAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!*
I'm going to really enjoy seeing pattinson transform his batman into the batman we are all used to seeing, and I'm excited to see keoghan transform his joker into something we haven't seen before hopefully fingers crossed!!
I’m sorry I’m going to have to already STRONGLY disagree there because This Batman already is PHENOMENAL and a perfect representation of the Batman!
Robert Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne truly is as it’s PERFECT representation of Batman’s trauma and life story completely portrayed throughout amazing subtle performances! Bruce' Trauma has deeply effected his entire life and well being. It's not about trying to portray a "play boy bachelor" at all, it's about showing a gloomy individual whose DEEPLY traumatized from his parent's death that he can't think or do anything else and it’s PERFECT the way how it's done as Bruce can't be batman without his trauma but this still it's consumed his life so much that he's never moved past his parent's passing to have his own life. But the point of this movie is showcase how Bruce can LEARN how to grow from that with his interactions with Selina so he can be a human again and learn HOW to be a better Batman for the people of Gotham by not being so full of rage but by being an inspiration of hope and love!
This ENTIRE movie is a 10/10 MASTERPIECE! We have a batman movie where the best character in the film IS Batman/Bruce Wayne! Robert Pattinson is the BEST batman I've seen and he's PHENOMENAL as Batman AND Bruce Wayne entirely while still given him a new stylized look that's FANTASTIC to see! Love this movie to death as it's the BEST batman movie, felt like Batman: The Animated Series BEAUTIFULLY brought to life with it's gorgeous Art Direction and aesthetics! MASTERPIECE of a film throughout!
Nolan Batman will always be wack to me
@@koacanne-perez799 LOL What? Nolan’s Batman will NEVER be “wAcK” AT ALL! His Batman is pretty great to amazing, but this Batman is PHENOMENAL and even better as a Batman movie and Character! But NO WAY is he “wAcK” at all, buzz off with that!
It will happen
@@Travis-4U it already has for the most part!
This scene fits perfectly in the movie, there was no reason to take it out other than to take the attention away from joker and focus on the main story which is respectable in itself, but it makes me wish we got this scene in some form. This adaptation of joker has so much potential, and even though that's not the laugh you would expect from a joker, the laugh fits this mixed adaptation so well that it's easily permissable in its own right. Not only is this joker the psychological character that we needed representation of, but just like you would want, there's no telling where this joker will go; he could easily be like the new 52, he could easily be like the Arkham verse, he even fits the animated series joker, all in one. It's truly astounding how much development we get out of this 5 minute scene
There is an interview with Matt Reeves explaining why he chose to take it out...look it up.
Bro, that IS the reason. It takes away from the flow and adds another 5 minutes to an already long enough movie.
This is the exact type of scene that works in an extended edition version, not the original theater cut
Nah. It's a cool scene in isolation but it does nothing for the actual film other than to tease Joker for some fan service. Nothing we learn in this scene affects the plot at all hence why it's cut.
Ngl, this scene was great, but it wouldve been a shock to suddenly see the Joker in the movie for only 5 minutes
Perhaps in the sequel they’d use this clip in the beginning, as a flashback or something.
This scene sends chills down my spine.
It shows how much of a morb the joker really is.
Dr. Michael Morbius would ne scared of what he has created.
What can you say? This is amazing. Matt Reeves knows how to shape a Batverse. Every character is in its essence what it should be, though with a personal, new touch from Reeves himself. Finally, we are back to top notch cinecomics!
