So sad to hear of the recent passing of their brother Leon Brennan, I met Leon several times whilst on holiday up in Donegal. He was a very nice person as are all the Brennan family which I had the good fortune to meet up with over many years of visiting their homeland. I think if my memory serves me well Leon used to manage Moya in the music industry some time back, It's such a loss for Moya and Enya to lose a brother, my heart goes out to them, two beautiful ladies indeed.
I saw Clannad on their last and final tour in Los Angeles. Not only the sisters, but the entire family was ridiculously talented, and the "next" generation was part of the band on this tour. I am so hoping it will be carried on in the capable hands of the new generation. It is a beauty to the world that we need desperately.
Wow! What a treasure to find this information. I am Irish descendant. I have always felt at odds with the modern life though I was born in it in 1955. I am my happiest in quiet, pure nature. I love the old ways, I love the thatched homes. There is a wonderful hot springs called Breitenbush in Detroit Lake, Oregon, no Wifi, old log houses, all off grid and you get the feeling of how life was, so long ago. It is my favorite place to go because I truly feel my true self there. When I hear old Irish and Scotch female singers, and always the bagpipes, I am unable to do anything but sit and take it in and feel the presence of God. The many healers I know (I am one) ... we share this love ... and though those ways are long ago, many do still work hard to retain their connection to nature, and add the old language and songs, and you we are always home ... the eternal spirits of nature have joined us, always waiting. Descendant from O'Dourghe from Drogheda -- nowadays called Durkee.
I have seen many singers in my time and as time grows shorter for me i find the need for a good women fades within me, as i lost my love of 40 years in 2010 but the pictures of this women and her voice has rekindled something inside me that I can not explain, and all i can say is thank you so very much and a small prayer for her as she is able to that for many a man as that is a great gift she has WOW
When God blessed this family with all their Musical gifts it feels as if they walked out of an ethereal Heaven to share their gifts with us mere mortals . I’m in such awe of their miraculous talent I would never choose between the sisters because both have voices that touch the soul. It is inspiring to watch this family when they sing together as their talent is so breathtaking. For a moment in time their voices take me into their world where Angels sing on high.

I saw and heard them all play and sing 40 years ago when they performed nightly in their father, Leo s pub in gweedore, county Donegal. Very popular pub it was. Leo played the accordion and sang as well. He was quite a performer.
Is Leo their Father, and out of interest, was that their pub at the beginning? My foster Father was Irish, we lived in Herefordshire England, and every year my foster parents go over to Ireland and they'd told me about how they knew Enyas parents and the pub. They never took me over with them, which broke my heart as I've been a massive Enya fan since a child. 🍻

When I first heard Enya's songs I immediately fell in love with her. I became a fan because of her ethereal voice. So out of this world. I thought there would be one else who could sing like her. And so when I heard of Maire's songs, her voice and 'style" reminded me of Enya. So they became my favorites for years without any idea that they are sisters! Lucky me! These angelic, fairy-like voices belong to one family after all. Enya's was featured in .. was it Two Towers or Return of the King?
