    VIDEO INTRODUCTION:
On the 14th of June 2022, the Defence Minister of India and the chiefs of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force announced the rollout of the Agni path scheme!!! And by now you already know that it's a recruitment model for the youth in the Indian Armed Forces. And as we have seen in the 1.5 weeks, there have been massive protests all across the country, trains have been burnt, civilian properties have been damaged, and as usual social media has been flooded with radical opinions. So we spent the past 4 days trying to talk to people, ex-servicemen, and even media professionals on both sides to actually understand why is this such a controversial issue!!
and in this episode, we are going to put forth both these perspectives to help you understand
What exactly is the Agnipath scheme?
From the govt standpoint, why is absolutely necessary for the country?
from a citizen standpoint, what are the advantages of this scheme?
and lastly what are the drawbacks that have triggered protests all across the country?
So if this episode makes sense to you please share this message in your social circle to educate them about this burning issue in India!!

My Grandfather was in army , when I talked to him , he said "This scheme is very useful for those who are economically backward students who doesn't want to part of Indian army but due to economic instability they have great option to opt for agnipath scheme , so they can help their family and themselves too in terms of money " .

    Indeed a remarkable scheme.
    1. Often I found many 10th pass students taking up their father's work. This will give them a chance to prove themselves.
    2. The eligibility age for agneepath is critical. Youth will gain discipline, patience, attitude and confidence required for the future. Most important they start thinking from the Nations perspective rather than selfish needs.
    3. No pressure for IITs, NEETs

    • @triskeliontriskelion9520
      @triskeliontriskelion9520 ปีที่แล้ว +7

Hey for your third point i have a counter argument, which might be wrong aswell
You know serving in the army means there are chances you will be killed in action? I think that pressure is a lot higher. Additionally, IITs and NEETs are not the only way to accomplish something, they are just a much better way to accomplish it but honestly, a hardworking person can definitely achieve their dreams with persistence.
Still considering the high suicide rates and mental pressure of students appearing for these exams, its kinda balanced

  • @subhradipsaha9518
    @subhradipsaha9518 ปีที่แล้ว +28

Irrespective of political alignment (which I don't have honestly), I think this is a brilliant move!
This can be treated as a 4 year college degree, but with much much enhanced curriculum,
The training, discipline, and skill development opportunities are huge, and that too while you are getting paid, unlike any college/ universities!
But there are some points that I need clarify,
    > Will there be an official degree given at the end of 4 years, which can be used to apply for other companies, in both Government and Private sectors?
If so, this will be a huge opportunity for Make in India initiative, because, Indian companies have this unique opportunity to take first steps in recruiting them, and they will gain both a highly qualified employee, and support the country!
    > There can be mental breakdown for Agniveers not getting selected into the army, after 4 years of hard-work and dedication;
This needs to be sorted out in a better way, opportunities should be given from different sectors, such that they don't deviate from their path
    > I picked another point from NEWS channel, that after 4 years, many individuals can use the training received and turn anti-social,
I don't support this argument, but it is a valid point!
I think individuals, who are training hard so as to serve their country in extreme situations, have a certain sense of responsibility towards society, and won't actively turn into anti-socials,
BUT, if lack of opportunities arrives, it might derail them (as it does to many individuals)
So, this needs to be taken care off, sensibly!
    Thanks for reading!

Perhaps this will filter out the men who want to join defence for job security and then become complacent over there like other govt. institutes. I believe this will allow our forces to be filled with warriors who want to serve.
And if that graduation thing really works our imagine how helpful will so many educated youth be for the economy.

Yes, we all knows why teenages join defence forces and other govt jobs because of job security and other facilities like pension, PF, gratuity etc. And these are the people who are corrupted. They want money and want to get rich overnight, so for that they does everything possible to make more money and then they choose the wrong path of income - corruption.
They give vital informations to enemy forces, they sell railway tracks, they join mafias and help them to loot instead of money.

For now I could think of some points about what can we do to support those jawans who served for 4 years:
    1. They get respect and honour for entire life and we will be always thankful to them for serving the country.
    2. They should get discounts at places wherever they go. Foreigners give tremendous respect to retired soldiers and teachers which I learned. This would encourage them too.
    3. Every jawan will be respectful to our country for entire life (I feel youth is wasting their time in protests or vandalism etc) and hence making citizens realize it too which we lack currently.
    4. Bonus: we will always ready for war and don’t have to depend only on military, Like Israel.
    Thank u for great video.

    • @AshwinUmale
      @AshwinUmale ปีที่แล้ว +1

All you have spoken about in every point is respect. Respect and pride don't fill up anyone's belly.
People should get long term benefits like gst exemptions in large ticket size items, lifetime access to military canteen, additional discounts (even something near 4-5% is good), all companies can have ~10% reservations for agniveer candidates.
There needs to be a lot of work done on jobs post agniveer 4 year term. Only respect and pride won't give anything!
And protesters are protesting because there are few thousand people who have already cleared the exams and government delayed their joining date. These few thousand soldiers who thought now their life is set and they don't need to worry are also getting impacted since they will also now fall under agnipath scheme! Personally, I feel this is unfair for these candidates. Scheme could have been implemented the future, that would have also worked fine. But the current execution seems unfair.
And I am strongly against with MLA/MP pension scheme. They enjoy all the leisure, benefits, exemption from everything just for 5 years of service. Not justified, whatever the cost is!

Another real reason for protests not mentioned in the media: Dowry.
Most protests are in bihar and in poor areas there, male govt employee with 15 years of job security gets Rs. 30 Lakh dowry. Illegal in law but happens all the time in reality. Now with only 4 years of job security, Dowry value has gone down to about rupees Rs. 10 Lakhs.

7:53 you asked why will someone risk their lives for a job which is just for four years.
Well basically the answer is that in the four years of service you will hardly be facing life risk situations.
You will hardly be given top of the range weapons.
You will hardly be at dangerous battlefields like LOC etc.
Like you rightly said the Army is more than just weapons, bombs and guns like how the Bollywood shows us.
    It has more to it.
So first 6 months you will be given training. (It's going to be a basic one, not hardcore deep trainings we usually think about)
Then the next 6 months you will be absorbed into one of the wings or the department in the army.
There you will spend your time learning and training for that department.
Before you know it your 4 years are over.
It's just like college but at an army school which will train you, inculcate discipline and give you values which will stay with you forever.
And after that if your performance is good you will be further absorbed into the main stream Army.
That is where the stuff of big boys comes into the picture.
Big weapons, big battles, life risks.
There you are going to be permanently into the army.
Remember: the govt is recruiting Agniveers. It never said we are recruiting Soldiers.
You don't become a full fledged Soldier by becoming an Agniveer, rather by becoming an Agniveer you get the chance to become a full time Soldier and patriotically serve the nation.
Speaking of patriotism, can you imagine the impact it will have on our nation once we have the well disciplined, army trained, brave, courageous and chivalrous Ex-Agniveers working and doing jobs.
What a great impact it will have for generations to come.

A point you seemed to have missed is all defence forces depend heavily on the unity and brotherhood of the jawans, if a group of 4 jawans know only 1 is going to get a permanent stint among them , there will be competition among them given the craze for government jobs and more so the prestige associated with armed forces. Also read today's article in The Hindu where a retd Air force official says that it takes minimum 3-4 years to train someone handling missile, radar and aircraft system, by the time one is equipped to handle the equipment on his/her own 75% have to leave the service, won't that be a wastage of resource?
Also just see the short service commission recruitment in industries, very few industry execute their promises, most recruit as security officers. Hardly any major recruitments, Ex service data may be available online can check that.
Also a lot of the protesters are protesting because army written exam was cancelled 6 times , at the same time when the states had elections, air force had declared a merit list and cancelled it now. There should have been more communication and trust building by the government.

i can understand how people are thinking that this is a good move
but the defense services are not meant to empower people
they are meant to defend the nation
yes, it takes 3-4 years to break a civilian mentality into what is required in the services, especially the army
      this "reform" is a distaster
there is no two ways about how indisciplined and uncommited people are in general
it is not possible to change in 6 months what a boy/ girl has learnt at home in 17-21 years of their life
you cannot join a place like the services with a view to prepare for life after 4 years
      mark my words
      it is a disaster
why there isnt a greater outcry from the services is because they cannot do so by law
no sudden scheme launched by this government has met with success

Incorrect analysis by anyone who said that we need x years to train a person to operate a radar or other equipments. I would like you all to remind Balakot and operation Swift retort. Pakistanis outnumbered us by 4 is to 1. They had better planning. Their AWACS was better, their communication was better. Hell they jammed WC Abhinandan's radio connection and he entered PoK air space and was shot down.
And 5 dumb ass IAF officers shot down our own helicopter by thinking it as enemy jet. Don't they know they difference between radar signature of helo and jets? Where was the years of training gone? Why weren't we able to shoot down 4-5 pakistani F16s if current training is the best one? They had full comradarie and no competition amongst them still they killed their own colleagues because they couldn't differentiate between a jet and helo's radar signature.

I get it that some people are struggling to find jobs but Army is for protection of this country, railways is the transport institution and so on with other institutions as well, Indians have to stop seeing them as job providers. Army should not be forced to think about giving attractive job opportunity, its supposed to give out decisions as it suits it, if it rules out a scheme which benefits the armed forces its upto you to take it or not think about it. its not mandatory so what are people so angry about? Its the armed forces why in the world would someone try to intimidate the army of its own country by burning trains...

Big thanks to your videos bro, it's really crystal clear and to the point. But I have few questions regarding this
1st question: what's the government doing with the money collecting in NPS & EEPFO. Are they using it to buy government bonds.
2nd question: To be a soldier is that tough, it has to do more work with the brains over with the body. So can they train jawans in to control themselves in less than 3 1/2years.
3rd: If a person who is not employed after a year of serving as Agniveers, Can they start a militia on their own in their respective areas. As they are well trained and know about all the technologies that are used in Army.
4th: Will the training be sufficient enough to create the brotherhood among the batallion.
4th: Final one, for suppose if an Agniveer is injured badly during the service. Will that Agniveer be getting pension or some preferred Government jobs. As by age of 23( that's one of the worst period in man's life as the perents become older and you have to start earning. So if something happens to him is there any help may be in terms of employment or in some sort of pension.
But I still feel this scheme is really beneficial to rural Indians. But I feel India is not that well prepared for it. As India even at present day cannot create enough jobs and cannot catch up with the increasing manforce. The success of this depends on the promises and implementation of schemes made by government for Agniveers after 4years.

I think, instead of us civilians debating about this topic, we should let our Generals run our Army. They have 3-4 decades of experience in that organisation, and know what's best for the establishment. Yet there are people who aren't even 4 decades old in this world, questioning about our honourable generals' patriotism towards the country and their loyalty. We are no one to question anyone's loyalty towards the nation, and especially not our Army personnel, because of whom we sleep peaceful nights not worrying about our lives in our homes. This is the need of the Armed Forces, and we should let our service chiefs decide what is needed and what is not.
As far as recruitment of the batch whose tests were conducted 2 years back, yes, they deserve another chance, and because of them, the government has given a 2 year relaxation as well. But tests have to be conducted again, because dynamics have changed in the last 2 years as well. People that would have performed the best in 2022 in physical might not perform as well this year. But whatever it is, we should let our Generals decide. They are the ones that would be leading the armed forces, and they should know the people they are leading.
Protestors are mere students that aspired to get into the military, but are now being influenced by unruly elements to propose against the government and this scheme. Since the news just came out recently, there is a huge amount of misinformation and fake rumours that are being spread across the nation, especially by Coaching centres which see their futures threatened. Soldiers are mostly from villages, with a maximum education qualification of 10th. These unruly elements can easily spread misinformation amongst such aspirants due to the lack of information on this topic.
As far as the scheme is concerned, there is nothing wrong with it. The scheme has been rolled out to make the Indian Army more young and efficient. The aspirants that will be joining through this scheme would be given a chance to serve their country in the front lines of the nation, and give them the much needed experience of army life as well. Army life just doesn't bring patriotism alone, it teaches one the feelings of brotherhood, discipline, the feeling of being a part of the nation's development in the best way possible.
From the recent Russo-Ukrainian war, there have been so many observations that are a key to a nation's security. Majorly, the fact that it's not just the Ukrainian army that is fighting the Russians, but it is mostly the volunteers that have come forward to take their place as well. In times of war, it makes it important that there is a significant amount of manpower in the nation, which is young and efficient enough to take part as volunteers in war, apart from having the training required to be quickly inducted into the batallions to cover up the losses and failing frontlines. This scheme not only provides the Indian Army with a much needed reserve manpower, but it also provides our nation with a highly disciplined work force, ready to take up the jobs necessary for our nation's development as well, after their service.
Also, as far as the future of Agniveers is concerned, there is a lot of misinformation, just because of the news being too nascent in its nature. The government has already given the confirmation of opening up newer avenues for these Agniveers, which in time would only increase. The first batch of Agniveers would be released only in 2027, and there's a lot that would change in the coming 4 years. The youth shouldn't be quick enough to judge this scheme, just because the said arrangements aren't yet in place. They should keep their patience, and have full faith in the Army and the government, and should know that they'll not be doing anything that would be harmful to a youth's future career and life.
Also regarding the monetary benefits of the Agniveers, there are close to zero liabilities that a youth has at an age of 17-21. That means that the 5 lakh per annum salary that an Agniveer would be getting (Salary includes the basic pay, military service pay, dress allowance, transport allowance, as well as the various allowances that depend on the place of deployment, namely high altitude, CI, and field area allowance), most of the salary would just be getting deposited into their accounts with close to no expenses. Also, they'll be getting 11 lakhs at the end of the service, and another 18 lakhs can be obtained as a loan on the basis of the seva nidhi. The entire sum comes out to around 50 lakhs, which is a hefty amount for a country like India, and for an aspirant who is just 10th pass, and is enough to start any business as an entrepreneur, or even if they don't want to run a business, they have enough money to complete their education in any college of their choice, after they get their 12th class certificate as well, apart from the job opportunities and priority the government would be giving to future employment of Agniveers in other sectors.
All in all, this is a very nice scheme, and the aspirants should keep their calm and wait for more and more announcements which would only be for their own benefit. Also, there is no bigger thing than serving the nation, which is the major highlight of this scheme as so many more young people would be getting the opportunity to do so.
    Jai Hind 🇮🇳

This video was well-rounded, I give you that.
And the scheme is 100% great for the defense forces.
Sadly, what it also does is brings down the monetary value of putting one's life at risk for the country.
Most of the people who go to join the army, do it as a last resort.
That last resort has suddenly become a lot less financially viable.
Remember that guy working at a McDonalds and runnning home every night as practice for his entrance to the army.
Wouldn't it make more sense for him to just continue working at the McDonalds than risking his life for 11.7 lakhs?
But then there a lot of people who don't even have a job at a McDonalds and will still risk their life for an amount of money that we spend on a car!
In the books, the bastards and the unwanteds sought redemption in the Night's Watch!
In reality, the poor do the same for much less!

people who have never earned in there life shouldn't complain about the money they are receiving. plus the skills they'll be inculcated will be of immense value they just don't know it yet. many students these days don't even have jobs to begin with and living off parents income whereas people of backward class are getting the opportunity to "serve" the nation and in return getting a decent amount when compared to their day to day expenses. then there are food and medical facilities for the entire family of the jawan. the whole family is backed by medical expenses covered by the government. compare that to the other classes of people who have to pay high premium for their insurance off of their income which is of course taxed but the money these jawans are getting are tax free and there are many more benefits.

    1. Such trained Jawans will only serve the nation for 4 years(3.5 years excluding the 6 months of training period). I think this should be extended for at least 2-3 years more.
    2. This increases the strength and discipline among the youth in India to face any critical situations that might come. Imagine trained youth among the common people and this number growing in the years to come. This sounds soo good🔥. This helps the country in many ways when there are bigger threats.(Hoping those people use this training in a good way).

Thanks for putting this together, but a question:
It seems change in the pention plan for the army men from 2014 seems to be the root cause for increased pension costs. Should government really do a relook on this if this is actually causing a financial burden on the government?

There had been a lot of protest regarding OROP, so I hardly doubt govt would want to dig the issue up again!

Younger generation who did not have a chance to know about what it means to follow rules and discipline will now see the beauty of it and provide a way for the interested to embrace it. Builds character. With character I think all Agniveers (doesn't matter if they're retained or need to exit) can find a way out from just about anything.
    Thanks for all your videos!

This is one revolutionized decision that ever happens in our country. Youngsters lucky enough to have such brilliant leadership and securing bright future as joining as Agneepath. I think it should make mandatory to all citizen as well as any citiezen who are willful join in the army without age limits (as I wish to join Agneepath). I think this is an amazing initiative by the Govt of India. I'm currently 26yrs old and I wish there was something like this when I was 18 to get enrolled in this amazing scheme. Not only this will help me in enhancing my physical attributes and my mindset, But it will also give me a chance to serve my nation for a short term period. I really pity those who are looking into the financial benefits and not the other benefits(mental and physical strength) that this scheme will provide.
One last thing I would like to say is Violent Protests are definitely a NO NO as its the tax payers that have paid for all the stuff the people have destroyed.
    Jai Hind!!

While I appreciate the content I think you could have taken the example of Israel which currently has a mandatory 3 year conscription requirement for men and 2 year for women into the IDF (Israel Defense Force). Prospects of those who come out of the IDF look really good as they get trained in Strategic and Tactical thinking, technical knowledge and most importantly perform under stress. In fact some of my colleagues from Israel got placed in Tech Giants like Microsoft, Amazon, Intel and Meta due to those skills after service. From that perspective things look really bright. Again as you said this can't be commented upon until this has been implemented in India.

Great content as always and unbiased comments is welcoming
I have a supporting story to share
I work in a multi billion dollar global firm from here in India
I had a colleague, who served in the India Navy during the time of Kargil war. He was the ship's Radio operator
This guy was insanely technical well mannered and assertive. When I asked him about his journey, he said that he could have worked in the Navy till the age of 40 but he left at the age of 35 despite losing many of the perks. According to him after 40 getting a job is very difficult. When i had known him 4 years back he was earning 1.2 lakhs per month( He was not a team lead and was earning one of the highest within the team )
Contrary to the popular belief getting out early( before 28 ) gives you a wider horizon to move into
these people are getting trained for 4 years while the alternative could have been bleak
