It hits the feels even more when you consider that Gordon cared that much unlike so many other cops in Gotham, that he could remember something as little as comforting Bruce as a child all those years ago.

Like a ridiculous amount of money being moved out the day before, how convenient. And the patriot act failing to be instated, only needing a terrorist attack big enough to instate it, oh wait, a terrorist attack coincidentally happened soon after...what are the odds...and many witnesses reporting hearing explosions go off at times when the plain did not hit. Idk about you, but to look at all of that and say, "nah you dumb for believing that" is foolish.

    • @DocuzanQuitomos
      @DocuzanQuitomos 3 ปีที่แล้ว +41

Also to be fair... the first half of the script doesn't ask much of Bale's performance. They all act like "Batman needs to come back, then all will be fine" and Bruce Wayne is partially like "Damn you all and my ailments, I'm returning".
Everything moves as many would expect: Batman will reappear, will kick Bane's butt, deliver some witty replies in low raspy voice and everybody will be fine and happy dancing the BatiTwist... Until Bane breaks his back XD. For the audience not familiar with Batman's general storylines (and those maybe bothered going for the "oh yeah, predictable" feeling) this would have been a big shock boosting some interest for the second part of the fim (where Christian Bale actually starts to act better... in the sense that his emotions return XD).
I don't say that it was carefully planned (it could still be a mistake, in the sense that Nolan knew what he wanted and he didn't ask more emotional performances from his cast in the first half of the film in order to save time), but as far as many Batman comics go, it's an element that's been used before: "Oh, yeah; it's the goddam Batman; he has everything under control, nothing new to see... Jesus H. Christ; the dude is really hurt!".
When Nat said she was not getting anything from Bale, I just though "wait for it" XD.

@@j.m.w.5064 The Dark Knight trilogy is a series. The argument for it to be a serial is weak, and even if it was correct I don't think calling it a series would become incorrect.
Yes, they are better when watched as a series in order, but they can be watched as standalone films. They have full resolution to their story. Neither of the first two films needed sequels to resolve dramatic cliffhangers. They left opportunity to make sequels, but that is extremely normal for all pop cinema today.

This trilogy brings so much emotions. Michael Caine did such an amazing job, I cry everytime I see someone reacting to this trilogy. I see your point about Christian Bale, but I think that's a Batman thing. He is not an emotional character, not as Batman OR Bruce Wayne. Also, never know when someone might be around a corner, or hiding or something. If as soon as he thought Catwoman was gone, he dropped the voice... well she was probably just on the other side of a railing, in earshot; or might have been. Or just came back for something. I believe IMAX theaters in particular showed off the opening plane hijacking sequence with Bane's introduction. And that preview would have been followed by an actual trailer which would have included moments from the pit sequences.
That IMAX preview screened before Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol (though maybe others?). So, if you remember seeing that movie in theaters (specifically in IMAX), that would confirm this to be the case.

Well in this Story JGL is not actually Robin. He doesn't fit the name or character for any of the Robins. His middle name being Robin is just a nod, and an indication that he is fit to take up the Mantle of Batman.

One thing I did not like about this movie was using THE Robin name for Joseph Gordan Levitts character. Because Robin is just a code name like batman. With that being said I have two ways to describe the movie title. 1) Bales Batman literally and figuratively rises from despair, hopelessness, depression, and pain to overcoming Bane and achieving inner peace and moving on from the Batman. 2) Gary Oldman's explanation of "The Dark Knight" at the end of the previous movie is more aligned with who JGLs character is. So JGLs Batman is the rise of "The Dark Knight."

MatPat did a film theory on if Batman actually saved Gotham from the bomb. Spoiler, a ton of people still die ... The radiation and fallout from the explosion spreads far, pollutes the water and the air current makes it even worse. It even makes its way back to Gotham "technically NYC" equivalent if I remember right from that video ... O_O

Tom Hardy does such a great job as Bane. Christian Bale and Tom Hardy have a great chemistry as hero vs. villian.

Natalie, I have a challenge for you. The movie is Worlds Greatest Dad, directed by bobcat Goldthwait and starring Robin Williams in perhaps his best role. It’s a prophetic film. It is a deeply disturbing film. It is a completely honest film. I double-dog dare you to simply watch it. I triple-dog dare you to watch it as a recorded first time reaction with no research. I have enjoyed everything you’ve done so far, I’d like to see how you handle a sincerely dark film that has much to say to many many hopeless people.

This trilogy is comic book movie perfection, but I couldn’t agree more that Christian Bale doesn’t exactly set the world on fire with his performances as Bruce Wayne.
He looks like Bruce Wayne, and he has a tough stern-ness about him…and that’s it.

I think the fact that Bruce always uses the Batman voice when he's wearing the cowl, indicates that the cowl itself uses a harmonizer to help disguise his voice.

The movie doesn't make it too clear, but you can see it based on the changing seasons in Gotham, it's been several months since Bruce was placed in the pit. Not just 1 or 2 weeks.
Also I love Christian Bale's acting in the trilogy. It's often cast in the shadow because of the insane star-studded cast of the trilogy, but especially when re-watching the trilogy, a lot of Bale's acting has a lot of emotional depth.
