Livingston hurt his knee working out prior to 69 season. Had 10 carries for 29 yds in 69. Hurt knee again. I know, he was my favorite RB

That 3 yard TD run by Livingston (48) in the opening clip was a big one. It came with 59 seconds left to defeat Pittsburgh in the last game of the season. By losing the game, Pittsburgh tied Chicago for the worst record in the league - and they went on to get the first pick in the 1970 draft. And they drafted you know who - which is now history. Nice block by Ernie Wheelwright (39) on the MLB to clear that space.

This is very similar to what happened in 2002 with England legend Paul Gascoigne who by this point in his career was in the twilight of it having just been released by Everton. He had also previously played at Newcastle, Spurs, Lazio, Rangers & Middlesbrough during his career with controversy both on & off the field following him at every stop. However he wanted to play in the US before his career ended so he decided to try out for DC United which was still one of the top clubs in MLS at the time & had stars like Jaime Moreno, Ben Olsen & Marco Etcheverry. After his tryout, Gascoigne was offered a contract by DC United. However he rejected it because one of the requirements of it was that he needed to lose 25 pounds by the mid way point of the MLS season & be totally abstinent from alcohol during the season. MLS at the time was marketing itself as a family friendly league & absolutely did not want players with drug or alcohol issues on their teams rosters which is why this provision about alcohol use was put into every MLS contract at the time. Gascoigne ended his career playing in China where he only played in four games before quitting his club Gansu Tianma. Since he retired, Gascoigne has had major issues with alcoholism having been arrested multiple times for drunk driving, public intoxication & assault.

This seems to be the type of player that should get a full JG9 documentary treatment, at least from what I have heard.

Was debating that. Problem is there’s not a ton of footage on the man, but we’ll have quite a few videos on him over the years

Livingston had only a good season with New Orleans in 1969 with the saints -I figure they were 5-9 when he played that year! Jim Dooley,on the other hand, saw his team go 1-13 the same year! 😮😮😮😅😅

When a player leaves Chicago, they become stars with other teams. Livingston did this with New Orleans.

I listen to your research; I choose to remember the best of what this player did. As Bears fan in that epoch it was controversial to start 2 rookies in the backfield. Livingston was a load; we all saddened at his lose during '66 season. Life became far more "real" the next few yrs; I didn't remeber he at NO.

Life in the early '60s was a lot different than it was in the late '60s for sure. And completely by design.

Andy Livingston was 60 years ahead of his time. Now every high school kid is treated just like he was, with the same results. A real pioneer and trailblazer.

Livingston could've had a hell of a career, but he seems to be one of those players who constantly got in their own way.

No, I think his former Bears teammate Gale Sayers would have won comeback of the year by running for 1000 yards in ‘69 after a knee injury wrecked the ‘68 season.

Think if he had a coach who made him push himself , he got by because with out even try he could go to college and the pro's , just think if he went i want to be one of the greatest ever , but not everybody has a attitude of a champion.
