- Recently we have been having problems with Coyotes coming on our property and threatening the safety of our animals. We decided that it was time to get a dog to protect our livestock and what better option than a Great Pyrenees to do that. We had one when I was a kid on the farm to protect our goats, and Ralphie has been wanting us to get one for a long time because he loves their breed.

I couldn’t agree with you more. I had a great childhood and a part of it was the different dogs we had while growing up. It also helps a youngster learn about loss as it hurts to see them go. I seen my father shed a tear twice in my life; when my mother died and when, after spending over 20k trying to get him well, he had to put down the family Chow-Chow dog. That’s how much dogs can mean to everyone in the family.

There's nothing like a puppy to complete a home! We lost our old buddy and protector, but a week later Mama found Ellie, who came right in, stole our hearts and put smiles on our faces! Have fun!

😱 Good heavens! That's what I call cuteness overload! What a beautiful fluffy puppy. 💚 I guess that Murphy will become pretty big. Now the goat area has a watch dog and the goats will soon have to obey Murphy's law! 😁 ;-)

Growing up, our family dog was a mix of German Shepherd and wolf. She was extremely intelligent, and could speak six words: "mom", "b-air" an abbreviation of my brother's name. She called me "you" because three syllables was too hard for her. "Out", meaning she had to use the restroom, "out now" meaning it was urgent and "love you." We never taught her "sic him" (meaning to attack) but picked it up somewhere and would go into attack mode upon hearing it. She would howl upon hearing a siren and instinctively herd cattle (making our summer job so much easier).

We had a 200 lb English Mastiff to protect us out here in the country. Gentle giant. Sadly passed away from cancer. Zeus was almost 10 years old.

Pretty dog people have them around where I’m at for herd protection and they also have donkeys I live in Georgia and the coyotes run through my pasture and all around the property luckily I don’t have any livestock but I hear them yelping almost every night

Ralphie and Murphy? Sounds like characters from the Honeymooners! LOL I know the puppies get over it, eventually, but I always empathize with the little ones being separated from their dog families. It's kind of sad. ALL dogs are good dogs. AND, ALL dogs go to heaven!

Josh I have got to have a couple of those goats with coats. Those things are beautiful. Great choice on the Pyrenees for a livestock guardian dog.

These working dogs are great for hurting goat's but are also great protector for the family especially the kid's. We have had 3 of them so have a little exsperiance with them.
If it ever gets to the point you dispatch the Coyotes. Make sure you get them all. They have an uncanny ability to double the pack size when they're threatened with a downsize. The females go into heat automatically when the size is threatened. The pup is a cute little fella. And another thing Coyote will do is go after the pup before he is of a size to defend himself. You need to get another guard dog to. They work better in a team. I hope you keep an eye on him in his development. He really needs to be with protection.
You want a dog but you get a puppy, 2 different animals. He came to a loving family so it will work out just fine

You bought the perfect dog, latter he well be herding sqeezy and the other kids, I bet she paints him before to long. My grand kids live in missouri (mizzori} and they have one and he protects all the new babies, animals and humans. He's all white also, by the way I used to raise hunting dogs and I was told by an old dog man that you always name a dog with 2 cilables like Mitch ..el so when you call them that's what they liston for and I found that to be very true, like Rock...Yeee. I can't what for your videos, you could have one everyday and it would make me very happy. The longer the better, love each and every one of you.

Wife and said good bye to our sweet Gemma, she was an 11 year old white great Pyrenees. We got her as a fluff ball. We don't have any goats but we have grandchildren she loved to watch over.

We got a puppy from Williamson County Animal Center (TN) 2 months ago and they had 5 white Great Pyrenees puppies. Huge dogs!
Such a great move. I have always been a massive fan of protecting livestock with dogs, instead of guns, its how humans have done it for thousands of years. Now the local predators will know their boundary, when he stops looking like a slow cloud and more of a guardian dog, and they can live on still. Regular Carl updates please.

It’s definitely always fun getting a new puppy for sure!!! We got one back in 2015 and before she was even a year old she had gotten several foxes that kept killing are chickens!!! She was only 20.00$ from the Amish and she or Nellie goes everywhere I go every day!!! Then in late 2016 we got another one from a different Amish family and she only cost us 40.00$ definitely two of the best dogs we have ever had!!! The last one we got her name is blue and she is a full blooded blue healer and Nellie was 1/2 red healer 1/4 blue healer and 1/4 German shepherd!!!

I own (or he owns me)! A male Carin Terrier. They are best known from “Toto” from the Wizard of Oz. I’ve never met a more stubborn dog who is highly intelligent. The problem with this is he’s always getting himself in trouble and I got to bail him out! One day in the woods he broke free from his harness and started running down a little stream. When I found him he was in the middle of a mud pit totally frozen. Incase you don’t know, you shouldn’t go into a mud pit because they can suck you right down to the bottom. But I couldn’t leave him there and when I finally got to him I was chest high in mud.
Carin Terriers are friendly little dogs but need an owner who’s going to have to live with their quirks as much as they live with ours. He’s going to be 8 yrs old this year and even though he makes me walk him twice a day for over an hour, I love the little guy to death…thus my You Tube name Bradydog!

@sleeperdude2690 we have 2 for our 19 goats 🐐 that live full time with them. You were dead on regarding it being breed into them, we never trained ours but they knew what to do. We were told that 1 can become overwhelmed if there is a pack of predators so 2 is recommended
What a cute dog!! We have the same problem with the coyotes!! They are in our backyard late at night and in our front yard early in the morning!! We have an Australian Shepherd dog and she barks every time she hears them. She lives inside, and we don’t let her out when they’re around. We would like to know how to get rid of coyotes, if anyone knows. We love your show and your family!! We watch every episode!! We hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and a Merry Christmas, in case I don’t comment before then. You & Tosh are doing an excellent job raising your kids in the LORD and in life!!
